It says they are closed on Sunday evenings but I just got an order from there so.....don't give up hope!
If I were dying, my last meal would be a combination of Nepalese/Indian food. I spent time in Nepal with my friend's mom and village grandmother's cooking for me. I was spoiled.
That was almost 3 years ago.
Since that time I haven't found anything that comes close. Until now.
Visiting town for business from the US. Felt like a night in and on a whim picked this restaurant off the Uber Eats list.
Fate, kismet, serendipity....man am I grateful.
I ordered the lentil soup, butter chicken, and basmati rice.
The butter chicken was fantastic. Tender chicken, great sauce. Could have used more heat but you just never know when ordering from a new place. Now I know, go for hot.
The shining star was the lentil soup (nepalese style Dal).
Indian dal has more texture, the lentils are left closer to whole. Nepalese dal is soupy, the lentils are cooked down to near nothing and have spent time absorbing the spices, a lovely comforting soup served with rice.
This was that. I closed my eyes and was by a fire in Nepal. The spices were wonderful, heat just right and it was still piping warm when I got it. in short, it was spectacular.
I have 2 more days here. I plan to have this at least two more times.
Thanks melbourne, for truly being a melting pot of cultures and food.
I bet their momo's are great too. I will just be hard pressed to steer from the soup. read more
