With each flip house I call Steve from Five Star Clutter and have him drop a dump trailer. There are usually 5-6 swap out of trailers while working on each house. Each time I call Steve to empty a trailer he comes within the hour. No waiting around, or numerous phone calls. His pricing is excellent, and very competitive. So much so that we own a moving company and no longer do disposals ourselves. We give the customer Steve's phone number and refer him. I had to call a bunch of times, leave two messages, send a few…read moretexts, send an email, and wait a few days to finally get a hold of someone who wasn't very willing to schedule a time for a dumpster. Response was very slow and they made me it very apparent that I was annoying them to ask them for their services. When I was finally able to ask for a dumpster and they couldn't get me in for about a week, which was fine. We got a date scheduled but had to back out because our contractor was going to be out of town so we asked to schedule one two weeks out. They replied and said, "I would just call somebody else to be honest with you, buddy. I am booked solid." Never had a company tell me to hit the road and make it so painfully obvious they didn't want our business. Also, it's hard to believe they were booked out solid for two weeks. Most companies would be happy to secure business, even if it's two weeks out. I'm confused.... Anyway, I worked it out with my contractor so he could get people to be there for the drop off, I told them this, and never heard back so we just went with another company. It was weird to be put in the position of begging a company to let me give them my money. This was a very strange experience that I've never had with any other company. Usually, companies love for us to give them our cash, but for whatever reason, these guys did not want our business. We flip houses and use dumpsters all the time so it could have been a nice partnership but alas, they didn't want it.

After weeks of trying to get plumbers to come and replace our water heater (they are busy & water…read moreheater inventories are tight due to the pandemic), I decided to DIY. Problem was, I needed the new 200 lb water heater moved down into our old basement and the two previous ones removed. (I have a bad back.) I contacted four moving companies and only two replied, one saying they were too busy. Bruce at Expert Clutter replied in just a few hours on a Friday and offered to do it at a reasonable price the following week. I bought the water heater the very next day. Bruce's crew arrived on time. They did an excellent job getting the two old ones out of the basement, including a 25" wide 80 gallon tank up the 26" wide stairway. As anyone who has run this type of business knows, finding reliable help can be a challenge - especially during a pandemic. Yeah, the guys were a bit rough and tumble, but that's what you need to haul heavy stuff up/down narrow, old basements. The crew foreman supervised the crew to make sure they were careful. I don't know about you, but I'd have a tough time finding a couple of good old boys to lug three water heaters in/out my basement. I am grateful that Bruce is around, dealing with the headaches of managing a moving crew all while doing his best to be attentive to customer's needs.
