This was my first time on a giant roller coaster like this. I have always been afraid of things like this, I'm not a thrill seeker, and the anticipation before the drop was unbearable. The seat was comfy and the lap bar was very well secured. The drop was insane, one of the scariest things I have ever done, but after the drop it was so so so much fun. The Joker was a very good ride. In some ways it's more intense than Medusa, yet not as fast perhaps. Going on the ride, you cannot always see what's next because it weaves around a bit, unlike Medusa where you see exactly where you're heading. It moves you around in ways you might not exactly expect. Some people get a little motion sickness on this ride. I personally did not. I would recommend this ride. read more

I give this a 4 star because it is one of the weaker RMCs, better than Twisted Cyclone at Over Georgia 1000%. And it has inversions

So we made a trip to Discovery Kingdom back in early February and watched The Joker being built and we're lucky enough to see huge pieces of the track being assembled in the parking lot it was with this that I knew this was going to be an awesome ride as most good coasters start out being built in the parking lot! The Joker itself definitely lives up to it's name as you really don't know what to expect next when riding it because the twists and turns really come out of no where and wow is there some hang time when your upside down! The Joker is California's second hybrid coaster to be built by Rocky Mountain Construction a company that's leading the way when it's coming to revamping old wooden coasters by adding a steel track to already existing wooden fixtures by doing this they are able to make it do corkscrews and just really insane turns that your typical wooden coaster can't do because the physical aspect of it just won't work. The Joker is definitely in the top of best coasters I've ever ridden at any park anywhere not only because it's so smooth but because the design of it is just insane inside to the point of where it left me wanting to ride it again and again! The line actually moves pretty fast so that's definitely a plus when your standing there with the anticipation of how awesome this is going to be. On our second day here they had a late start to opening and I'm sure that's just the result of it being a new ride as I remember it took them a few months to work the bugs of of the states other hybrid coaster Twisted Colossus which is running perfect now so I'm assuming it won't be to long before The Joker comes around and gets all his jokes just right for everyone who wants to enjoy them! Overall I will definitely be back here at some point for another awesome ride on The Joker the only real question is when will I be back? Until then the jokes on you! read more

Two minutes long, it's a hundred foot hill with a 78 degree drop, 3 inversions with 15 hang times long enough to hope your seat restraint works, a zero g barrel roll, and evil little hills at 53mph. "Introduce a little anarchy. Upset the established order, and everything becomes chaos..." The airtime and hangtime makes it thrilling without being death-defying. It's the first ever step-up under flip and a breaking wave turn. Whatever that means. They could say it's the first ever step-on, underwear, breakdance geri-curl, and I'd be, "sounds great!" "As you know, madness is like gravity...all it takes is a little push."- The Joker (Heath Ledger) I don't like that the gates are on a timer. Once the gates open you have to wait for the people to get out, but the gates start to slowly come to hit, pinch, and turn you into Lt. Dan. There's nothing to hold on to. Also, if you're well-fed like me, they have to really push the bar to lock. As the Joker said in Batman, "Never rub another man's rhubarb." read more

I love this ride! I think it has the longest lines for this park. Even longer than the new batman ride. It's fast and full of drops and turns and upside downs. There's even a photograph. Only two rides have pictures so far. This is my first go to ride every time I come to this park. read more

My brother and I are at the Joker now! This is my first time riding it since the ride was converted from Roar. I believe that the Joker is one of the only steel/wooden inverted coasters on the planet. The line is long for this ride from the time the park opens because it is so unique. I'm super excited! A bit nervous... Aaaah! That was sick! Multiple inverts and corkscrews! The steel on wood makes the ride incredibly smooth and fast! read more

OMG. That was amazing. The first drop is epic. I normally don't need to grab on to anything on a drop, but I actually had to grab for my husband. I wasn't prepared for that!! The inversions are amazing, incredibly smooth. The track is very reminiscent of Roar, right down to where you he ride photo is snapped. I just got off and my adrenaline is pumping like crazy. While I miss Roar, it was worth losing it if I'm being completely honest. They need to still work out some kinks naturally. I wish they designers thought to include sound on the ride to fully immerse you in the chaos that is the Joker. His laugh on the drops and inversions would do nicely with the screams. read more

It's a 3 star because we went to the park at 11:00 and we got to ride the ride at 12:50 so 1 hour and 50 minutes we waited in line.

I LOVE this coaster! Very intense....and just overall fun! Love all of the inversions....especially the one after the first drop!

This ride is tied with Superman of being the best roller coaster in the park. The good news is that the line moves very fast and is not long at all. However, the paint for the line is peeling off already. When the ride breaks down however and you are waiting near the front, the music is so annoying as it is a 30 second loop that plays over and over again. Was cool at first, but man it plays over and over again and then of course when it does break down, no one is there to tell you. We waited for 30 minutes and it was in the middle of the line. The ride itself is awesome as there is a lot of corkscrews and then it is smooth as well. The ride does break down quite a bit, but we ended up riding it 4 times. The presentation outside was pretty awesome too. The drops are just okay nothing to be excited about. The Twisted Colleseus is better at Magic Mountain as the drops are better and it is longer, but this one does give one for the money. read more

A fantastic new addition to the "thrill rides" at Six Flags, the recently opened Joker coaster doesn't disappoint. With a suitable purple-and-green color scheme and carnival of terror theme at the entrance, the twists, turns, and drops during the actual ride are as maniacally fun and unpredictable as the man himself! Sure, the line may seem a bit long as everyone attempts to give this newer ride a test run, but it is more than worth the wait. The line snakes around outside but once you get to the actual entrance and stairs, you're good to go, and with two cars of 24 passengers running at the same time, the line moves faster than some other coasters in the park. Remember to store your loose articles/bags in a locker for $1 (per 2 hours) beforehand as there are NO cubbies at the loading platform. Once strapped in, the lap bar actually secures your feet as well and makes for a fairly snug fit, but if you're at the front of the car, then there's no actual bar in front of you to hold onto, so let go and have fun! It is a wooden coaster but definitely with a twist as the steel track allows it to achieve some inversions and rolls that non-hybrid wooden coasters cannot. And don't forget to smile for the camera when your photo is taken - as the Joker himself would say, why so serious!? read more

out of all the new DC theme superhero rides, this one is by far my favorite. all the new experiences are about a minute long in total and very minor when it comes to the scale of the other large rides in the park like Kong. also, this rides waiting line had water misters as you waited along side it which made it one of the best waits in all of the park. 10/10 wanna know how i got these scars? read more

I will be filing a lawsuit against Six Flags for their negligence as well as discrimination against my nephew who has a prosthetic leg. This incident happened on Sunday, July 8th. They allowed him to ride this ride the first time with no problem, as he went to ride again later in the day, they gave him grief about his prosthetic leg. It was total embarrassment on my nephew's part to had to have endure that kind of humiliation, not to mention there were no signs of any sort stating people with prosthesis could not ride. Management would not even come out to talk to us, the entire ordeal was handled poorly, now legal actions will be enforced. Customer Service was poor, the entire day was day was ruined! I will NEVER attend this park AGAIN!!! read more

Best ride at six flags discovery kingdom and in my mind it is the 2nd best roller coaster in Northern california after Gold Striker....this is a very smooth ride and the only hybrid and one of two coasters built by RMC coasters in Norcal....highly recommend this ride to all read more

Keeps breaking down constantly 7 times for extended periods of time, never got to ride it. I was in front of the line and waited through the breakdowns to see if it would comeback on service twice. Waste of time. read more

Holy crap! Our littlest one just hit 48 inches so we were excited to introduce her to some thrill rides. We ran (literally) the moment the park opened. We got right on and we were seated in the front. The ride was so incredibly thrilling!! It was so smooth and you felt so secure and safe which is important for the little riders.
