    Going up!
    Rachel Macie H.

So we made a trip to Discovery Kingdom back in early February and watched The Joker being built and we're lucky enough to see huge pieces of the track being assembled in the parking lot it was with this that I knew this was going to be an awesome ride as most good coasters start out being built in the parking lot! The Joker itself definitely lives up to it's name as you really don't know what to expect next when riding it because the twists and turns really come out of no where and wow is there some hang time when your upside down! The Joker is California's second hybrid coaster to be built by Rocky Mountain Construction a company that's leading the way when it's coming to revamping old wooden coasters by adding a steel track to already existing wooden fixtures by doing this they are able to make it do corkscrews and just really insane turns that your typical wooden coaster can't do because the physical aspect of it just won't work. The Joker is definitely in the top of best coasters I've ever ridden at any park anywhere not only because it's so smooth but because the design of it is just insane inside to the point of where it left me wanting to ride it again and again! The line actually moves pretty fast so that's definitely a plus when your standing there with the anticipation of how awesome this is going to be. On our second day here they had a late start to opening and I'm sure that's just the result of it being a new ride as I remember it took them a few months to work the bugs of of the states other hybrid coaster Twisted Colossus which is running perfect now so I'm assuming it won't be to long before The Joker comes around and gets all his jokes just right for everyone who wants to enjoy them! Overall I will definitely be back here at some point for another awesome ride on The Joker the only real question is when will I be back? Until then the jokes on you!

    Hahahahah

My brother and I are at the Joker now! This is my first time riding it since the ride was converted from Roar. I believe that the Joker is one of the only steel/wooden inverted coasters on the planet. The line is long for this ride from the time the park opens because it is so unique. I'm super excited! A bit nervous... Aaaah! That was sick! Multiple inverts and corkscrews! The steel on wood makes the ride incredibly smooth and fast!

I give this a 4 star because it is one of the weaker RMCs, better than Twisted Cyclone at Over Georgia 1000%. And it has inversions

It's a 3 star because we went to the park at 11:00 and we got to ride the ride at 12:50 so 1 hour and 50 minutes we waited in line.

I really like this roller coaster and I'm not the roller coaster type of person. I don't feel dizzy or queasy after this ride.

It is a wooden coaster but definitely with a twist as the steel track allows it to achieve some inversions and rolls that non-hybrid wooden coasters cannot.

Got a fantastic parking spot close to the entrance. Opted to walk ~10 minutes to the entrance instead of taking the trolley/bus. My husband and I have the gold pass and are all about trying to maximize our value. The gold pass alone has been great for saving on parking costs after multiple visits. We were also able to buy Bring-A-Friend discounted tickets at Discovery Kingdom even though our home park is California's Great America. In comparison to California's Great America, I found the employees here much more pleasant and efficient in loading rides and doing safety checks. Waits for rides (included kiddie rides) didn't feel as long and it made a huge difference in our experience! My husband got the Fast Lane Ultimate and had a great experience squeezing in about 15 rides with no long waits. Mainly just needed to wait his turn as a car finished up. As for food, if you plan to stay a while and eat there, highly recommend the all day dining plan. The premium all day dining plan includes free refills (ICEEs included) and we totally got our money's worth within two meals! We shared food from two dining plans for five adults and a young toddler and were pretty full by the end of the day. There were plenty of tables with umbrellas for shade, so didn't have trouble finding a spot on a Thursday, but can see it being a problem when it's more crowded. Restrooms were very clean and plentiful. My husband and I accidentally forgot our diaper bag and thankfully, the shops had emergency diapers kits. Overall, very pleasant experience going on a non-peak day!

Overall I personally would not wait more than 40 mins for this ride, because on days where the park is empty, you could get on in under 20. Something I would recommend is if there's only 2-3 people in your party and the line is super long, just go to the single rider line (on the left side when you enter the ride line) - who cares if you don't get to sit RIGHT next to your friend haha, don't wait an hour plus for this ride. The best thing about this ride is that it's a LONG one - I think it's like almost 3 minutes so it's worth your time, and it's a pretty fun floorless roller coaster that has a lot of twists, turns, and upside down moments. Very snake-like fitting for its name. Super smooth, NOT rough like Kong (the worst ride at this park LOL). Definitely this ranks as top 2 roller coasters in this park for me (the first one being Joker). The only con is it does occasionally have technical difficulties, but they usually get it up and running again in 10-15 minutes. Also has a dippin' dots close by haha.

I think my aging body has a harder time riding rides like these and I prefer actual "roller coasters" like Medusa and Joker. If you ride in the seats facing the dolphin area (facing RIGHT when you are looking at the ride at the entrance of the line), I feel like it's way scarier LOL. It's just so spinny (and I think you swing more if you and your seat mate are heavier maybe? Someone who's good at physics pls weigh in). I felt like I had to close my eyes to not be so scared haha. I would say this is worth going on if the wait is shorter than 15 minutes, otherwise I don't love it. Also I would recommend not wearing sandals to the park because they do make you take off slides flip flops if you're wearing them (since your shoes would probably just fly off with all the rotation), but sometimes after raining, the floor below this ride can be very wet and have lots of puddles (so good luck getting off without getting your feet/socks wet lol).

So this coaster is a 4th dimensional free spin spinning coaster it is a clone of its design as there are various other ones at some other Six Flags Parks so i believe this was my 3rd or 4th one that I've ridden. So this coaster just isn't for me as I don't like how it spins and I don't like the restraints as well as the whole concept of the ride I just feel it's more rough than fun as it just kinda hurts my upper body every time but that's just me you might have a different experience than I do! Overall this is a great addition to a park that doesn't have a lotta land but to be honest I wish they would have gotten something else as I just really don't like these types of coasters.

Superman is the other one and I personally think that one is better than The Flash, but that does not mean The Flash has no presence in Discovery Kingdom here. It reminded me a lot like the now defunct Deja Vu in some ways. Outside the loading dock, there are two ways you can go -- one in an ultra-twisted inline curve, and the other that goes straight up 90 degrees. So you're kinda all over the place for this ride, but you're definitely in for a treat.
