I have been going to the Joint for years, starting out at a branch in San Diego when traveling a lot for work, I ended up going to places that suit me closer to errands or home, but it's helpful to be able to go to another location when traveling. The front desk person notified me that I would need to complete by paperwork quickly as a new patient so they could see me same day or I would have to go back the following day. He was very funny about it so I appreciate the honesty. I got the paperwork completed and ushered back to see Dr. Williams. She was really great! I went here for the first time a few weeks ago. My lower back is killing me after all the driving I did on vacation. This place is cheaper than any other chiropractor I've been too before. The first chiropractor I had was really good, a great communicator and really had my back feeling better after my adjustment. I went back the next week and had a different chiropractor. He was equally as awesome with telling me what he was doing and what to expect. I left that day feeling great and happy. The third time I went the guy wasn't a great communicator. He was basically popping and snapping, pulling and pushing while somewhat telling me. I didn't like that at all. He also used a massager which I didn't exactly like either. The fourth time I went back, the last chiropractor was there and I almost left. He asked me why, I told him and he did a much better job at talking to me first, then adjusting. I feel communication is key in life, especially if your getting adjustments. I wish I knew the chiropractors names, but unfortunately I do not. I went in on a 27th of the month. Paid for that visit and then signed up and I told them I wanted my membership to start on the 1st of the month. The idiots,l didn't pay attention to my request and signed me up as if I was starting my membership on the 27th. There was a reason why I needed it to start on the 1st. I came in to this place on a Saturday because my normal chiropractor isn't open on weekends and I had a great experience. The front desk employee was kind and welcoming and the chiropractor who worked on me was very helpful. I came in with a limp because of the amount of pain I was in, and I left feeling instant relief; still going to need to go back for more regular appointments but already I feel better than I did in the morning. So grateful they are open 7 days a week in San Marcos and grateful this chiropractor worked with me and let me take brakes to breathe in between each adjustment (because I get nervous). Sadly, over Dr. Hines time at The Joint in San Marcos, he's begun implementing rules for using the bathroom, rules against anyone sitting back with you during adjustments, even if the next patient is the person accompanying you, and today, he informed me that he will no longer do the specific adjustments he's been doing on and for me since Dr. Sorensen left (2 years?). One or the other, I get to pick. He won't do a drop table AND a side posture "because they adjust the same places even if I don't hear a pop." It's his new policy. "That's just the way he works." I am VERY disappointed in my visit today!! I came in with my neck hurting and asked for that to be looked at along with everything else. Dr. Hines had me lay on the table and he adjusted my neck and said I'm all good to go. ??? I asked him to adjust my whole body, he then pressed three times on my pelvis and said I was good to go again. He did NOTHING for my WHOLE body. I asked him again to adjust my whole body and he said he did not need to because he already adjusted me. I paid $39 for that?? I have gone to the chiropractor my entire life because I was hit by a car when I was younger and it stunted my bone growth on my left side making my hips sit uneven so I KNOW how chiropractor visits SHOULD work. He was SO argumentative and defensive about what he was doing. He would not stop arguing with me once I said he didn't adjust my whole body. He did NOT listen to anything I had to say. Dr. Heinz is a cocky young man that has forgotten his mission in patient care. The strong arm technique is for bullies and con artists and has no place here. This is when we are vulnerable, when pain has set in and we are looking for help. I was told by Dr. Heinz that if I was not going to come in for regular visits that I "should find somewhere else to go" I've spoken with the Dr. that over sees the SD area and since visited the Carlsbad location. Went here for a free adjustment with this promotion they had. The chiropractor put me in a position to crack my neck and pushed down to crack it. It didn't crack immediately so they slammed my head harshly twice again to try to get it to crack. Instantly I felt a horrible severe pain in my neck like nothing I've ever felt. I literally thought my neck was going to break. I said that hurt so bad, and the chiropractor's exact words were "uh oh, that wasn't supposed to hurt" then they said relax your neck and lightly rubbed it a few times before finishing the last couple adjustments. My head was throbbing with the worst migraine I've ever had. They said sometimes after adjustments, some bad gases and things, need to release from your spine and it's normal to have a headache. The headache was shooting from the right base of my neck to the right of my spine all the way up to the right front of my head traveling in a painful line. It throbbed all day in such bad pain that I couldn't eat or sleep and felt like throwing up. I figured it would go away the next day after sleeping. After a week the pain was still the exact same, 2 weeks and I started to get worried about the headache so I went to the ER, they gave me muscle relaxing medicine which finally took the pain away. I declined the prescription which I ended up regretting and just took the shot they gave me. Finally I felt back to normal for just that day. Although the next day after the medicine wore off, the pain continued again for weeks. I was taking tons of Tylenol to try to help with the pain which wasn't really working. It was hard to sleep because of the pain and I was constantly waking up because of my head pounding. It was a horrible throbbing migraine, not just a small one. About 2 years later my neck has still never been the same. Luckily the headache went away after about 7 weeks, but my neck still is not as mobile, it feels like it gets caught or snagged when I turn my head a certain way. And it hurts to look down. The pain is like a 4/10 constantly if/when I move my neck. Anyway that's my experience here. read more

Dr Hines' name is on the door and the one I prefer to see, although the other Drs are good too. A consummate professional and always very courteous Dr. Hines does his job and does it well. This is a subscription program and you take advantage of it by ensuring you get all of your appointments by showing up consistently. My neck soreness and back stiffness have gone away due to seeing the doctor every week. The plans are well worth it and I highly recommend this location due to Dr. Hines professionalism, bedside manner, and magic touch. He has the ability to know when he did not get a complete adjustment and does one small tweak and ends up getting that adjustment complete. Dr. Sorensen is wonderful! My husband swears by him and now so do I. The receptionists are always really friendly and I've never had to wait to be seen. Dr. Sorensen gets you in and out and does a great job. My first, blah experience at the Joint. I've been to several different locations in San Diego County, Temecula, Phoenix, and Utah and this was not at all what I was accustomed to. Every other location the chiropractor asks why I was visiting and if there was anything that was bothering me. They then do a quick assessment to see if I'm misaligned and where to focus their adjustment. The chiropractor here immediately had me lie on my back and she adjusted my neck, then my back. I couldn't believe she was adjusting areas without even knowing what to adjust. Really disappointed in the experience here.
