Judy, his assistant, was warm and welcoming, encouraging me to come in anytime--even on a Saturday--without an appointment, for only $60 for two treatments. My recent visit to a well-known chiropractor in Newport Beach had left me reeling. She quoted me nearly $9,000 for spinal treatments and described my condition in such dire terms that I walked out feeling anxious and pressured, racing against an imminent deadline before the price climbed even higher. After just a few minutes with Dr. Ward, he carefully reviewed the previous doctor's notes and images, offered me a fresh, encouraging outlook on my back, and explained how it could be healed--without a sky-high price tag. Hearing Dr. Ward give me this new perspective, I felt the tension melt away and became so much lighter and more optimistic. I asked why I would need to do a new patient appointment (which includes X-rays and is more expensive), and she responded, "uh you haven't been here since 2024." I then asked if that was a policy because I don't remember being told that, and she said, "uh no but it's been 2 years and I don't even know if we take your insurance anymore." So I said okay, can you check if you still take my insurance and I'll make an appointment for a later time. Her response: "the person that checks insurance isn't here but I can take a note." The attitude throughout the entire call was rude and unprofessional. I would understand if this was clearly explained as a policy, but that wasn't the case. I just wanted to come in for an adjustment, but after this interaction, I won't be back.
