The pulled pork a little chewy and some pieces charred on the ends, but good flavor and definitely stuffed The poutine was a large portion. Lots of sauce and chicken pieces. Personally I would have preferred shredded chicken but my other half liked the chicken pieces. The BBQ sauce is smokey. And the cheese curds were extra cheesy. It was a good visit but I was kind of hoping to be WoW'd since I've heard so many great things. Definitely good . I'll give them another try on some other dishes .

On the most recent trip I really enjoyed the country fried steak. While it is heavy, it is perfectly fried and topped with a savoury and creamy white gravy. The fries on the side were cooked absolutely perfectly. The coleslaw was tangy and balanced. The Mac n Cheese was so creamy, with a hint of spice and topped with breadcrumbs to create a mix of flavours. This is already on top of the many other tasty dishes such as the pork shoulder and smoked chicken wings which I highly recommend. Butchie's is a BBQ staple for Durham region. I've been here several times and I'll be back many times over, especially during the summer for their beautiful backyard style patio!

It was a mingling type of event with finger foods, including Bruschetta Crostinis, Cheeseburger Sliders, Fried Chicken Sliders, Spring Rolls, Coconut Shrimps, and Assorted Flatbreads. I remember that I was very disappointed by the food, but at that time, I thought that they were just doing some experimentation to introduce interesting Asian fusion food in this culinarily underwhelming town of Whitby. Thought it would be a good try. So I decided to come back maybe after this place settled more, but then COVID hit. And we never had a chance to come back until today. Unfortunately, the food experience was even worse this time. And their beer went very far from my beer preference, serving a lot of beers with wacky flavors - looks like those beers are taking over their craft beer lineups. Food: We had # Charred octopus with seasoned tomato sauce, chorizo, Calabria chili, ink tapioca crisp. Well, Octopus did not have "charred" flavor. Surface had no crispness. The portion was huge, but the octopus was rubbery texture, dry. The tomato sauce underneath it was just too much for the octopus portion. Over-seasoned & salty tomato sauce with additional salt and spice from chorizo pieces. Do they want to make me thirsty to sell more beer? Yes that might have worked, and unfortunately it didn't. I waited for our server to order another beer but it took her more than 15 minutes to come to our table . # Jagerschnitzel : Essentially, schnitzel. Came with braised red cabbage, apple sauerkraut, Yukon mashed potato with "mushroom sauce". Schnitzel was endlessly huge but dry. Mushroom sauce tasted like can or some pre-made cheap & junky taste. A lot of mashed potatoes. Well suited for those who want to get a lot of comfort food to fill stomach with no intention of enjoying delicacy. Beer was OK. They have rotating beer selections on tap. We had tap beers such as IPA, Scotch Ale and Premium Pilsner. IPA was not as good, it left a lot of one-dimensional bitter aftertaste. If I want IPA then I will go to Town Brewery. Premium Pilsner was good. We also had Scotch Ale which was also good with nice Scotch aftertaste. Do I come back? No, if the food quality remains the same.

Server was very nice and even suggested for us to order the broccoli cheddar poppers! Very good appetizer, super cheesy! I had ordered the spicy garlic parm, and it was delicious, but very spicy. Unfortunately, the server seemed to always be hard to reach, or if we asked for something, it would take another 20-30 minutes to get. For example, asked for an apple juice for my goddaughter and didn't receive it until 20 minutes later (mind you, it wasn't busy at all!) Overall, the wings are good and very delicious, but service needs to improve.

But..... my gosh. The dishes looked nice. My niece said her food was okay. Her cousin said his food was overcooked. My dish was trash, my gosh, I couldn't stomach the taste. The salmon was tough, tasted bad, rank. The seasoning was weird and didn't pair well. It had some kinda spice that tasted odd. I don't even know what to say about it. But later that night I was throwing up well into the morning. I only eat possibly 3-4 small bites, most of the dish was left back. I still tipped and didn't complain as I just wanted the kids to have a nice night without arguing with whoever. As I write this I am reminded of the disgusting taste. NEVER again for that dish! So we changed our mind to try more than just pizza! We ordered: - Cheese burger (came with potato salad, a piece of pickles and coleslaw) - Brisket 1/2lb - Margarita Pizza - Poutine (classic) The most impressive food was Cheese burger. Generous meaty double patties, caramelized onion, and melty cheese were sandwiched by brioche buns. Well excused, simple pleasure. One negative is that I did not feel enough charcoal flavor that I expect from BBQ place. The brisket was also good. Tender, and it came with a small container of beef gravy. I liked it! The gravy had well rounded flavor, depth, and consistency. But again, I wished that the meat had more charcoal flavor. Poutine was good. Nothing outstanding but generous volume. I am not sure if it is real cheese curd though, but the cheese was not shredded, came with chunk. The brown beef gravy was addictively good on the fries. Considering the size, $10 was a good deal. The most disappointing was Pizza. No wood fired flavor, and the dough was kind of dry and hard. No bubbles, no chewiness that I look for in wood fried pizza dough. I am also against using parmesan for margarita pizza, as it totally kills the pizza's simple delicacy. It had mozzarella and fresh basil, which was good. Tomato sauce was good too. And again, it lacked wood fired flavor that I expected from this place. I think I will come back for their meat and burgers. They were simply delicious. :)
