When a historic windstorm tore through Custer State Park during the night of December 17th-18th,…read more2026, it left our over 100-year-old cabin surrounded by devastation. Sustained high winds, with gusts exceeding 90 mph, brought down 11 mature trees, most between 80 and 110 feet, around our property. The majority were windthrown -- uprooted entirely, leaving partially exposed root balls more than six feet across -- making the terrain around the cabin nearly impassable and the forest damage extensive. In the aftermath, we called Deep Roots Tree Service, and from the very first contact, Jared Price set the tone for an outstanding experience. He was timely for every appointment, prompt with phone calls, and kept every promise he made -- no exceptions. In a situation that was already stressful, that kind of reliability meant everything. What truly sets Jared apart, though, is the way he approaches his work. You can tell he genuinely loves working with trees and holds a deep respect for them -- even in the context of removal and cleanup. Watching him work, it's clear this isn't just a job; it's a craft he cares about. The crew cleared all 11 fallen trees and placed the debris in an area required by the Park. The result was impressive, especially given the scale and difficulty of the storm damage. If you need tree service in the Rapid City area, look no further. Deep Roots Tree Service earns our highest recommendation -- five stars, without hesitation.

The bid we received was astronomical compared to the size of the job. It was clear to my husband and I that he did not want the work. We later obtained 4 additional bids that all came in at about a third of what Zack quoted. We were also told by multiple landscaping companies that no company should charge you for an estimate. We asked for our money back and were told, "Impossible". We asked for half of it back and were told, "Impossible". We feel this is all a scam. Unfortunately this was not a positive experience and ended with a somewhat threatening call from the owner. Two guys showed up to clean the gutters and were here for less than 15 minutes. After they left I quickly inspected a section of the gutters and found that the downspouts were not cleaned at all and there was still dirt and leaves in the gutter. I took some photos and contacted Superior to dispute the invoice as the work was not completed correctly. The person I spoke with saw my pictures, agreed the work was substandard and offered to send their employees back out. I didn't want them back on my roof, potentially upset about being called out for sub par work so I refused and said I didn't want to pay the invoice. The office employee said they would have someone call me to discuss further. After three weeks with no response I called again and was told I would receive a call. Two weeks later the owner called me saying he has pictures showing the work was completed correctly and that they do not clean downspouts. He said he wasn't going to discuss the issue any further and if I refused to pay the invoice he would send it to collections. With no recourse outside of litigation, which would be costly and unjustified over a $100 invoice, I reluctantly paid it. I have video footage from my security cameras to prove my claims as well as a couple of pictures following the job. I want others to be aware of my terrible experience and to be careful if you choose to do business with this company. After speaking with others who have done business with this company and reading other's reviews, intimidation seems to be a common tactic along with substandard work. I will no longer be doing business with Superior and caution others to do so at your own risk.
