I walked in and asked one of the sales people that I was looking for 1/2 carat diamond studs. I tell him the clarity and color range I am looking for. I also tell him my budget. He goes to the back to ask his manager, and his manager starts laughing loudly. I can see and hear him through the glass office door. Even if they could not meet me at my budget, he did not have to stoop that low. Then the sales associate comes out and tells me they do not have anything in my price range. I told him I heard his boss laugh at me. I said that was not professional. All he could say was "I agree". I just came from another jeweler that gave me exactly what I was looking for in my price range (I am shopping around before I make my final purchase). So I know my price was fair. Do not buy a thing from here. The diamonds are not certified and they tell you they come from a mine. My prong bent with in a month and a half of having it brought it to my local jeweler who told me it is very cheap not a diamond and not white gold and paid $3,700 for it. This place is very misleading with their advertising on tv. They will show off all of these low prices diamonds to entice you to visit. I went two years ago with my wife and were greatly disappointed in the selection. Besides the crappy diamonds, the staff was so damn rude. Usually you have salesmen at jewelry places hounding you (which is also annoying), but here you had to flag down someone to look your way. Once you got someone they were either A) not helpful or B) so trained to get you over to the more expensive items. Located in Hackensack...that is reason enough not to visit. read more

Last year I decided that I was going to propose to my girlfriend. I knew that I wanted to get an unforgettable engagement ring but I also wanted to stay within my budget. After browsing through a couple of jewelry stores I stumbled upon the Jewelry Factory in Hackensack. Upon entering the store I was met by the Assistant Manager, Edith. Unlike most people who work in sales, she was not overwhelming or overly-aggressive. She was very calm, soft-spoken and she sounded like she knew what she was talking about! She happily explained to me the ins and outs of engagement rings, what to look out for in terms of diamond cuts, clarity, etc. She showed me a variety of rings that were within my budget but I couldn't find one that stood out to me. After noticing my lack of interest in the rings I was looking at, Edith stepped away and brought back an absolutely beautiful engagement ring. This one was a bit higher than my initial budget but after some negotiating we were able to come to a fair price. Long story short- I purchased the ring, my proposal was a success and I have to thank Edith for helping me pick out a ring that my fiance fell in love with! The customer service at this store is second to none. Months later, my fiance accidentally banged her ring on a wall and knocked out one of the small diamonds on her band, and we both freaked out. I called the store, spoke with Edith about our situation and she told me to come in right away and that they would replace the diamond for free! They have an excellent warranty program and they absolutely will do anything they can to make their customers happy. I would definitely recommend this location for any guy or gal looking to purchase jewelry while receiving great customer service and loyalty. Go see Edith! She is amazing! read more

I first purchased a pair of diamond studs in the summer and I wanted them reset from a prong to a basket setting. After the earrings were reset and sent to me I saw all these flaws and carbon deposits very visible to the naked eye. I did not see any of these flaws or carbon deposits while they were in the prong setting. I brought them back to the store very dissatisfied and feeling like I had been taken advantage of. They have a no refund policy. However, with diamond studs, you can exchange within 90 days and if you choose to upgrade after 90days you get 80% of the value you purchased it for, which is ok. When I went back to the store I spoke with the supervisor, Jennifer. Jennifer was very calm and patient with me. She informed me of my options, but did not pressure me to make a decision on the spot. She also wanted me to be happy with my purchase. Jennifer told me she would keep a look out for any other diamond studs in the same price range with better quality and also loose certified stones that matched in size. She also, told me not to worry about the 90 day exchange period - that if she needed to she would extend it for me to help me find something I was truly happy with. Over the course of the summer Jennifer called me with a few options, I went in to look at them and I either didn't like them or were out of my price range. Jennifer kept looking and finally found stones I was happy with. I had to go down in size, but I was much more happy with the quality. I received the earrings last week and I am very happy with them. While I cannot attest for the overall quality of the inventory in the store, I will attest to the great customer service that Jennifer provided and all the effort she put in to find me something that I was happy with. She was always super nice, patient, and honest with me. She also has very good knowledge of gem/diamond quality with regards to color and clarity. DONT deal with this company, I seen the commercial on TV i called looking for 4 GIA .5 ct diamonds VS1 color G, I told the woman i spoke to on the phone that was all i wanted and i could buy them where i live for 2000.00 each total 8000.00, she told me she had the same GIA diamonds at her store for less, so i asked what would be your price she said 1500.00 to1600.00 per diamond GIA .5 ct. VS1 G. i told her i was coming from NY about 1 1/2 hours north of her store she said come. When i got there she showed me 4 .5ct GIA diamonds she said the price was 2250.00 each. I said you told me on the phone 1500-1600.00 per diamond she said well i said i have cheaper diamonds that are not GIA certified. She didn't say that on the phone she just lied to get me there figured i drove all that way and i would settle for a cheaper diamond. A nice gentleman named Steven helped my picky butt out and he was extremely patient with me as we looked through this place of endless rings it seems like. When I first went to TJE I explained to the first sales person I had a diamond ring that I wanted to take the diamond out of and buy a new 3 stone setting to put it in along with purchasing 2 more diamonds and she told me they didn't do that! I bought a diamond ring and have had it cleaned many times. The jeweler there now, though, buffed the ring so much, he literally took out small engraving details from the ring! I had to go back and complain so that he would re-etch the lines into the band, but the ring is definitely not the same, nor will it ever be. read more

Went with my bf there for a birthday gift for myself. First off there were no customers, and we felt very pressured because all the sales people eyed us like vultures. Also there was what appeared to be like the sales people family sitting on the couches mostly children playing and talking very loudly the entire time we were there. We were approached by one salesperson who was very hard to understand. I told her politely we were just looking... We really wanted to get a good sense of what their stock was like. She kept following us and kept asking questions like what's it for? Who's it for?What are you looking for etc... Which is fine but we told her we were just looking on our own!! And told her to be honest it all depended on the piece. And if we had questions we would ask. She then began pulling these horrible gaudy ugly pieces out... In heart shapes. I explained to her I like simple clean pieces... And that I didn't like anything in predictable shapes such ass hearts etc... She then said Oh! Then this! and pulled out a star!!! Clearly she didn't pay attention to customer preference. Then said what is your budget 59$?? Both my boyfriend and I thought that was very rude! We never said our budget as we know in places like that they can price it whatever they choose basing on "your budget"... Then she took us to a case and showed us a huge ugly peace sign pendant!!! At that point I said" thank you we don't see anything we are interested in". And we left. As we left my BF and I discussed how disappointed we were and how the shop looked NOTHING like the commercial, and thought maybe we were in the wrong store. Well come to find out that's because they film their commercial in their Tustin, CA location..... Extremely misleading. And was such a disappointment especially since we make the trek all the way to Jersey based on expectation that it would be a huge place with lots of variety of stock pieces as the commercial pictured. I bought my wife a diamond stud earring and paid $35 extra for a screw type lock. this is suppose to be better since the screws will hold the diamond earring more securely. the craftsman worked on it for several minutes. but lo and behold, after several days of use, the lock unscrewed and fell off. and then the diamond earring fell off too. it took us several hours to locate the earring. fortunately it was only in the house, otherwise that would be $450 down the drain. I called the manager and was told to bring it in. No apologies, and adding insult to injury, he bragged that they stand by the high quality of craftsmanship. Now I have to go to their store from New York, pay the toll and the gas. It is just too much hassle. Dont waste your time going here, buy your jewelries in NYC, at least it wont cost as much to go there. read more

Went to the jewelry exchange to purchase an engagement ring and I was disappointed with the place. The TV commercial is deceiving because the place looks nothing like it. It is half the size of what they show you on the commercial. The selection on the settings are limited as well as the diamonds. The salesman that helped us was pleasant but Edith the manager was not. She was not very patient or very accommodating. During our experience there some of the diamonds were not lab tested and did not have a certificate. We were told that we should have it lab tested on our own and now we would have an additional expense. They were having a holiday special with 18% off but when the billed was totaled the sum was no where near 18%. The longer we stayed there the more b.s. was told to us. This was liked talking to a crooked used car dealer. It is not worth going there and I do not recommend this place. Don't waste your time. read more

When sizing my ring, they bent the setting. They treated us like we were bothering them after giving them business for many years. They do not treat their customers with respect. We were blown off and told to deal with their main office in California. They make promises and do not keep them, such as returning my calls and telling me they would give me a new setting at no cost, since it was not my fault. When the new replacement setting came in, they demanded more money claiming my new ring "appraised higher". Never once did we receive an apology. What a disappointment. Rings Resized To Perfection! After 13 years of marriage, my engagement and wedding rings had become too tight on my finger and I was in desperate need to get them resized. I'm very protective of my rings and couldn't bear not having them. With that said, I had consulted with other jewelry chains / stores about resizing my rings. Each time, they told me they would have to send them out to a jeweler to get resized, which could take up to 2 weeks. I couldn't believe none of these jewelry stores had an actual jeweler onsite to resize rings. Since I'm very protective of my rings, I did not want to take the risk of them potentially getting lost in the mail when their sent out to a jeweler. That began my quest to find a place that had a jeweler onsite so that I didn't have to worry about them getting lost, even if that was a slim possibility, it still was not out of the ordinary. I remember a place that did have a jeweler onsite and that was The Jewelry Exchange in Hackensack, NJ. I checked online and called to confirm that their jeweler was onsite. I was so happy and relieved when they did. I was also happy to hear that not only did they have a jeweler onsite but depending on how busy they were I could pick up my ring within the same day, after a few hours. Keep in mind, that's not a guarantee, it all depends on how busy the jeweler is that day. Also, he is not there on Tuesdays and Sundays. Anyway, My husband and I went in on a Saturday, we worked with Steven & Delwin on resizing my finger and assessing if they could resize my rings. At first, they said it couldn't be done because of the intricacy of the design and the inside engravings. I said, "please, is there anything you can do." They called over the Jeweler named David who was very nice and assessed the rings. He informed us that because my ring was machine designed, it would not be possible to resize. I then said to him is there a way you can replicate the design without ruining the integrity of the design. He thought about it and said; "yes, I can do it." They assured me that you wouldn't even tell that they had to add gold and make the rings bigger and I wouldn't lose the engravings inside. My fingers were sized from originally being a 4 1/2 to 6 ¾. I couldn't believe my rings were being sized a little more than 2 sizes up from the originals. The other thing that's nice is they can do in between sizes. Originally, I was sized at a 6 1/2 but I felt it was a little snug yet the 7 was too loose. I really needed something in between. Delwin said, how about a 6 ¾ and I said, "you can do that?" He said, "yes, we can." I was so happy. Another note to mention, since my rings were so tight on my finger, my finger had an indentation so I had to not wear my rings for about 1 week to allow my fingers to go back to normal size and not be swollen. You need to do this so that they can appropriately size your finger. After all was completed, we left my rings to get resized and picked them up the next day. I believe it cost about $40/ ring because of the design. Prices vary, depending on the rings. I was a little nervous on how the rings would look. When we arrived that next day, Delwin brought out my rings and I was so excited! They were perfect. You couldn't even tell that they sized the rings up more than 2 sizes. You didn't see any seams that would show they added more gold, the engravings were untouched inside and the design integrity was still in place. It absolutely did not look altered in any way. We were amazed. Also, he polished the rings so my engagement ring that originally started to look a yellowish color, even though it's white gold, now looked white again. My rings were beautiful and perfect! David did an amazing job! With that said, we will be bringing my husband's rings to also get resized. Overall, we were very happy with the whole process, customer service from Steven & Delwin and the expertise of David, the jeweler. He does beautiful work and we'll definitely be back again and again. read more

I went there yesterday to reset my engagement ring. I also purchased an anniversary band. I do not think I received a deal because they do not give you nothing more than I-J diamonds in the anniversary bands and the prices are higher than you would have paid at Zales for the same carat weight as well as quality of diamonds. The other major down side of this place is that they charge me $250.00 to move my center stone with the prong setting into the new ring. This I felt was a MAJOR RIP OFF. Additionally, they included the $250.00 into the price of the ring and charge me tax on it. This should be illegal. I would NEVER return here. I am the type of customer who would pay full price for an item if I think it's worth it and I hate being lied and tricked. I think they tricked me. The sales person what somewhat deceptive because she calculated my price 3 times. The first price was $1785., then she said she forgot something which took it up to $1875 and the last time she added the tax it was closer to $2264. I was very disgusted with them. read more

The diamond I picked out is not the diamond that I received when I purchased this product. Unfortunately, I noticed this 3 years later because I kept it in a safe after cancelling my engagement. My ex fiance was in love with the way it looked in the store and all the reps seemed to think it was a real great buy, but I guess that's what a sales rep is supposed to do. I noticed inclusions with my own eyes, but when I was in the store, they gave me a loupe (diamond microscope) and didn't notice anything wrong with the diamond at all, so how is it now I can see inclusions with the naked eye. When we got it, I did notice inclusions, but they said it just had to be cleaned etc. BS! .Anyway, I payed about 5k, and the diamond was allegedly worth 8 to 10. These people don't know what they are talking about, or don't have the proper tools to tell you what color your diamond is, cut, etc. The diamond I purchased after getting a GIA Certification is a I1, M color, 1.50. It got appraised for about 7k, but that doesn't really matter when you try to sell it some where else. I've been hearing that I will probably get 1500 max. I believe that they switched my diamond for a lower quality one when they sent it off. Kind of weird that they have to mail it to you as opposed to picking up at the store. They only buy back 85% of what you paid if you buy another diamond in their store. Other than that, they don't accept returns. If you don't care about certifications and like taking chances with getting what you didn't pick out in the store, go right ahead. read more

i waited 20 years for my husband and i to be able to afford an engagement ring for me. we just never were able to really get one. so on my birthday he bought me a 5'000 iga 1 1/4 carat soliitare flawless diamond which fell out of the setting within seven hours was lost you could clearly see the prongs broke offholding it. never had a chance to insure it and when i called these people they said it was my problem even though other jewelers looked at it and said it was the way the diamond was set. end result i never got another ring or credit with the store no help or cooperation. unless you want to be robbed stay clear of this rip off place. with extremely poor customer service policies. do not buy jewelry from here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
