We were fortunate to have the place to ourselves at the time we went and the owner/chef, Jeff, was a great host with many personal stories about the history of Utica and his personal colorful past. We had his stuffed French toast which was awesome and some eggs. The coffee and tea are self serve and there are seats at the counter and a couple tables. The place only seats around 16 people but he assured us that he occasionally gets many more in there at a time. The first one on the list was closer to my appointment but they closed at noon so gave us the perfect opportunity to try Qamar Cafe and it did not disappoint. It is a cute little coffee shop located on Genesee Street (Utica's version of Main Street) in the recently restore hive building. The hive building is so cute which gave this coffee shop a quaint atmosphere with all the exposed brick. The owner was so sweet and helpful. She helped steer us to the must try drinks which did not disappoint. Latte was just the right combination of coffee to sweetness and was not overly sweet like many other coffee shops.
