We'd been meaning to check this place out for a while, and ended up going tonight to catch up with a long time family friend. On a Sunday evening, there were a few groups but it wasn't overly busy.
There were three banquet options (mid-range price was $30pp) but we decided not to go that route and just ordered some appetizers and mains to share. We started with a couple of orders of spring rolls (there were supposed to be two rolls per order, but they gave us three per order instead; not sure if we were charged extra for this or if they were just nice) and chicken satay skewers, all of which were quite good.
Things kind of went downhill from there, specifically due to huge gaps between mains being served. The veggie and tofu hotpot came first, which was okay I guess because those things stay hot. It would have been at least ten minutes after that when the honey chicken arrived, and although it was pretty good, there was disappointingly little of it. Half an hour later, we were almost convinced that they had forgotten about our Peking duck, when it finally arrived. The duck was served crepe style, which wasn't indicated on the menu, but I've had before and enjoyed this time as much as any other time.
I guess I wouldn't say that there's anything really wrong with the place, except that the servers could be a bit friendlier and more efficient, and the portions could stand to be bigger or cost less. Ended up spending very close to $30pp, so in that respect the banquet probably would have been better value. I'd like to give their breakfast a shot, but other than that I think there are better places around where one can get a decent Chinese meal. read more
