This place is terrible the people in the back making food don't wash their hands and don't clean the equipment properly

Tried this today on a whim. We ordered a pizza with two drinks. The pizza was 16" and had 3 toppings. The pizza was flavorful and the crust not super thin but thinner. The staff we dealt with were both friendly. The register could use an upgrade. She had to restart it to run our card. 5 people came in right after us so it got popular fast. The dining room was a little dated but Italian style. I'd eat here again. read more

I had the worst experience at this restaurant today. I saw that their menu was cut into half again (which is due to it being in Illinois.) I ordered the 4" garlic bread and the two pieces were the same size as one original piece. [Never mess with a girl's garlic bread.] This restaurant needs a major upgrade and since there's a new Italian restaurant in Canton, this one will most likely go downhill. Had lunch today, had to ask for plates, crackers (only received one (1) for my salad that had seen better days!! Coke product had to be exchanged because of an off taste. Was charged for pepper chips and parmesan cheese for my pizza! read more

I was visiting family in Canton,Il 2 weeks and got a craving for some pasta. I was looking to pick up something to bring home to share with my elderly parents. I ordered the 1/2 gallon spaghetti dinner with salad and bread. It was somewhere between $20 - $25. I read the 2 reviews available and decided to try it after all the LaGondolas chain in Illinois doesn't get stellar reviews but I love it. And both said the bread was great. Oh well - I don't think I'll be revisiting Italian Express to satiate any more pasta cravings. The spaghetti noodles were cooked perfectly, however it was a bland meatless sauce. The bread was slightly undercooked, sliced lengthwise and saturated with garlic butter giving it a greasy doughy texture. I would have gotten a better salad had I stopped by and picked up a bag of an iceberg mix at the grocery store. read more

Ordered food for the first time there and was immediately met by a sassy short girl. opened conversation with, "What do you need?" This was my first impression of the restaurant and I haven't even ordered food yet. I asked for a 8 inch sub with everything on it, toasted(I was told to get it by several people who go there). I get, an "Ok" and she went off without taking my money for it. I decide to sit down and read one of the free retailer pamphlets. As I'm reading, I hear lovely things like, "He looks like hes stealing stuff" and "He looks like he steals stuff" and I'm now appalled at the notion. I am the only customer in the building and when she comes out with my sub, it wasn't even toasted. I asked politely, "Um, excuse me, I asked for this to be toasted. Could I please get it toasted?" Hoping for a "oh Im sorry, sure it'll be just one moment." I got, "Ummmm no?" and she left me there. I then ring the bell and ask her if she would ring me up on the cash register, because she still hasn't taken my money yet. She rings it up for 5 dollars more than what the 8in sub costed. It says they only toppings that come extra are mushrooms and they handed me those in a cup... Not on the sub. I paid the money because I just wanted out of there. Horrible service for some sub-par food. Go here if it's a last resort. read more

Worst pizza I had in a long time , very stingy on sauce, cheese, and meat. Ordered a salad and tossed it in the garbage as the lettuce was brown and soggy. Need to pay attention to their business and not just let the kids run it. Will never go back as this was a total waste of money! read more

It's all about the bread. This place seriously has some of the best bread around and their menu caters to that fact. Hearty open faced sandwiches, garlic and cheese bread by the loaf and nearly every meal comes with a slab of delicious garlic bread on the side. There's little wonder the place is a Canton staple. Very hit or miss, but the bread is fantastic! Service is also hit or miss. Pastas definitely taste generic, tons of potential.

My Mom and I went to Italian Express for dinner while I was in town to visit them. I have known of Italian Express for a long time, having grown up in the area, although I haven't eaten there in years. The bread is as good as I remembered, slightly sweet and really good as garlic bread. The other fare was not great. I had ravioli (which were beef even though the menu didn't call this out) and my Mom had lasagna. Both were disappointing. The sauce is bland, and the sauce is the most important thing to me when I eat Italian food! The service was friendly, but I did have to wait for a while when I was ready to pay the check, and they weren't that busy. Needs improvement. read more

Italian express is a favorite living in this small town. Their prices are amazing compared to other similar restaurants. The staff is always friendly. Occasionally they get behind on refills but that's the only complaint I have. Food is always amazing and the restaurant is always clean. read more

I got Italian Express take out this past week. Their dishes are def hit or miss. I typically go with a basic turkey sandwich. Love love love the bread. It is sweet and o so tasty. It is perfect with sandwiches or as garlic cheesey bread! Nothing fancy, but just fine for lunch. read more

First time at Italian Express and I found it quite to my liking. It is an All-American no frills pasta diner. I got the spaghetti dinner that includes a side salad and four generous slices of garlic bread. The service was fast and extremely friendly. Both servers working at the time were very attentive to my needs. The side salad was shredded lettuce with shredded cheese and mini croutons. The lettuce was cold and fresh and the Italian dressing I chose was delightful. The spaghetti was just the right temperature and the sauce was tasty enough but has room for improvement. The garlic bread was very good and I chased down the meal with an iced tea and a slice of lemon. The entire meal cost $11. I recommend the Italian Express if you're looking for a basic dinner that is reasonably priced and good. I will certainly go back again next time I'm in town. read more

These people were some of the nicest restaurant staff members that I've ever met in my life! My family and I were treated so well and it was like talking to family when we were there. I especially loved their garlic bread (that's what they're famous for) and tortellini pasta and my mate bought a cold cut sandwich and everything was lovely. Both food and service were top notch and I would recommend this establishment to anyone passing through Canton, IL! read more

Extremely disapointed with service! Called in an order for carry out. Sent my daughter I pick it up. When she returned we discovered our orders were completely incorrect. I called to remedy the situation when I called the first time I was told they would credit for our next order. While I was pleased with that and ready to drop it then to my surprise I received a phone call from the so called owner and she informed me that I was lying and trying to get free food from her. When you get right down to it all we wanted was sauce for our bread sticks that were half loaves of garlic bread not even the sticks we ordered. The owner addressed me as "lady" I was appalled with how she addressed the issue. I will not be going back. read more
