My favorite pizza place!! I've loved this spot for years!! I've been to several Monical's locations over the years, but this one is by far the best one. I do miss the amount of shredded carrots they used to put on the salads. There used to be a full layer of solid carrots plus another of cheese. Now its just a sprinkling. I'm biased because this is the pizza from my childhood. To be frank, this pizza is thin and crispy. Not overly sauced. So, even setting my biased aside, I can't see how a thin crust fan would not like this place. The other thing that is literally magic is how they cover the pizza with foil to keep warm, but the crust stays crazy crispy (even with take out). Being in Chicago many times for business, and the hype of the deep dish vs.tavern style pizza, from the press and friends; wish they would go to Canton Monical's. Too many times I have ate a tavern style in Chicago, with business associates are raving about Nick and Vitto's, Kim's uncle pizza, Pequod's, etc, and all of the time I wish that I was eating a Monical's pizza instead. The amazing thing is that the salad with their French dressing is as good as the pizza itself. This is a must stop for anyone passing through Peoria, worth driving the extra 30 miles. Nothing special, parking was a mess which is usually a good sign that the place is busy. It was busy but not worth the wait. Place was filthy. The worker told us to just sit anywhere, I said all the empty tables are dirty and she says "yea the entire place is dirty" I chuckled and she walked away. She went to "clean" a table for us and just removed the dirty plates and said her you go. We ordered pizza and garlic breadsticks. Garlic Breadsticks were just pizza crust with no garlic, super bland. Pizza was no better. Very bland and the crust was black on the bottom, not burnt but black from dirty pizza oven crap. I found this place on Yelp and the reviews were mostly good. I decided to give it a shot for dinner with family while visiting. I got the family with the salad and pitcher of soda pop, and a large Hawaiian pizza. I also ordered a mighty meat, the delight, and a small cheese. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures, spending time with family is way more important, so sorry about that. The salad was fabulous with fresh greens and lots of cheese and don't forget the French dressing which is their specialty and for food reason, it's amazing! A wonderful start to dinner. All of the pizzas were fabulous, I got all thin crust, which was crisp, light, and perfect. Absolutely some of the best thin crust pizza I have had. The pizza all had plenty of toppings. I am not a huge fan of Hawaiian pizza, but it was pretty good. I would say the mighty meat lived up to the mighty with plenty of meat, perfect flavor with a nice sauce. I loved the delight also. If you want great thin crust pizza, then this is the place to go in Canton. I will definitely be back if in the area again. This is Marc's hometown favorite pizza. At first I thought okay, nothing compares to Imo's Pizza in St. Louis, but this pizza was really good. Not only did we go here with his family, we ended up having a late night snack. It was still as delicious as the first time. The owner was very friendly and made sure we were satisfied both times. Monical's is a small chain in Illinois but the best location is def Canton. I may be bias because I worked there for several years, but this place rocks. Always go for the original thin crust, it has a perfect crunch. Also do not pass up their french dressing. I know for a fact they go through gallons of it a day; it is amazing on the pizza and on the salad. Family Pleaser (Pizza, Salad, and Soda) is the way to go. Don't be surprised if Jim Carter, the owner, joins you at your table for a chat! He is the best. Its a little pricey compared to other pizza joints in town, but totally worth it. I just say "WOW"!!! The service was outstanding.....we arrived at 9:30 and the store was due to close at 10:00, the staff was friendly and ready to make our experience a hood one. This is my absolute FAVORITE pizza chain, ever, period. This location is also my favorite spot as well. I believe they have the same ovens that they've had since I first began coming here as a kid, years and years ago. It's really doesn't look like much on the outside of any of the locations, but don't let their lack of fancy run you off, this is amazing pizza! As an adult I am excited that there are more locations in IL than as a kid, but Canton is #1 for me. They are widely scattered about Illinois; Missouri, Wisconsin, and Indiana all have at least one location. Monical's Pizza is a really thin, perfectly crisp pie. In fact, I don't think there is even an option for another kind of crust. Most of all, this place is consistent in how good their food is. The ingredients are as fresh as they can be, freshly prepared, and as quickly as possible. Each and every pizza is made to order, and piping hot when it comes into the dining room. This is a FAMILY restaurant, and is good for groups large or small and their menu options reflect that. For about $30 you can get a Large pizza, family sized salad, and pitcher of pop. They carry Coca Cola products, and a good selection of salad dressing, though if you ask anyone, their FRENCH DRESSING is a real gem. I personally buy this and bring it back to the East Coast so I can always have a little taste of home. Don't forget the bread sticks, which are really simple and delicious as well. They carry Nacho, Cheddar, and Marinara sauces for dipping. For the Newbie to this place: Orders are taken at the counter first, then choose your seat and they will bring everything out to you, and they will box it up for you as well. The customer service here has always been very friendly, polite, and speedy. I have simply never had an experience that's been under par. They have a good amount of parking available. read more

I just went to this chain for the first and sadly last time. I had hoped to get a decent pan pizza, instead what I was given was the equivalent of a bad frozen, store bought pizza. It was essentially a slightly thicker than usual pizza with a bland crust and a sauce that tasted little more than sour. I am afraid most of it is destined for the garbage can. But it's more than just the pizza that impresses me here...the owner/manager AND employees are really what makes this place special. They have been in business long enough to anticipate busy days and prepare accordingly. They rarely get your order wrong and even when slammed it's only a 15 minute wait for a large pizza. They are constantly on the move and someone always checks on every table every time you visit...not intrusive just helpful. Offer to refill your drink before you leave...crazy. The customer service at the Monical's Pizza in Canton was among one of the best experiences I have had in a long time. Orders were taken quickly and came out fast. Friendly servers stopped by our table numerous times to refill beverages, bring condiments, and check in on us. Restrooms were small but clean. Best of all, the pizza was pretty darn good. My guest had a special combo which consisted of an individual size pizza, drink, and side salad for about $10. She loves their thin crust pizza and shouts accolades about how superior this particular Monical's is compared to the Peoria locations. I purchased a meat lovers pizza and it was delicious. Make sure to ask for parmesan cheese, crushed red pepper, French dressing, and hot sauce to enhance the pizza. Only downside is that their menu is pretty limited to pizza, breadsticks, bone-in wings, and salads. I highly recommend this pizza place as a stop if you are in the Canton area. read more

Monical's logo says "We bring people together." And I agree, I visit Canton, IL every summer and no matter what, visiting them always makes me happiest. Good food, friendly service, the only real problem is the two hour bombing from 6-8. Between these times its loud, and service is slow, but it's awesome no matter what. My wife and I visited Monical's yesterday evening and although there were a lot and I mean a LOT of people there. The staff handled it very professionally and our wait was brief. I've been eating Monical's pizza since 1970 when I started college and I told Kerwin, the night manager, the pizza still tastes the same. It's excellent!!!! Only wish we lived closer 43 miles, but it's best we don't. Yes there are a few who have low ratings but they are unfounded. Pizza is a local food, by that I mean, you tend to like what you grew up eating....but if you don't love Monical's ya don't love fried chicken and that my friends is UNAMERICAN!!!! read more

This small Illinois chain pizza place has the best pizza in Canton. Very thin and crispy crust cut party style. This pizza goes great with a nice hot sauce or their own version of French dressing. You are probably going to have better luck with their delivery or carry out because the smallish restaurant is usually pretty crowded. Be on the lookout for the ads they post on Facebook occasionally. You can find some really good deals on their pizza that way. read more

the restaurant sign says they are open until midnight. we went by at 11pm last evening and looked in to see all of the chairs on the tables. the two ladies working turned away from us as we went for the door. we left. we were both disappointed because we really like Monical's. this experience really ruined our impression of this restaurant. do not go here late at night. read more
