I have really given some serious thought as to what the Iron Blosam deserves for a rating. After much deliberation I am going to give it 4 stars. In all reality The Iron Blosam certainly isn't a luxury hotel, but it gets the job done as a great ski hotel. What makes a great ski hotel? Let me tell you. This place had a great hot tub and pool. The hot tub was clean, and a very pleasant 104 degree temperature. The pool was warm and great to relax in while watching the snow fly. In all reality I would like to have seen a hot tub outside too, but the wall of glass windows and doors allows the hot tub to have a nice view to the outside. Also the ski access and views are pretty good. This isn't ski in/ski out but it's just a short walk to the slopes and I was able to take the shuttle back which was simple. Also, our room was clean. The bathroom was somewhat dated but everything worked and there was no mold etc. the hallway of the hotel smelled kind of weird but I think that is because someone Burnt a pizza next to us. Also, I got relegated to the sofa sleeper. This sofa bed was ACTUALLY COMFORTABLE. I know that is crazy but it really was. No springs in my back. The lobby was also quite cozy. Comfy seats and couches and I was able to relax and read a book down there in the evening in peace and quiet. I'd certainly come back. A great place to stay for skiers.

Skiing in Little Cottonwood Canyon, you have three main lodging options: 1 - Stay on the Snowbird Resort property. There, you can choose the grandiose Cliff Lodge, the Snowbird Inn, the Lodge at Snowbird, or the Iron Blosam. All four are well-built concrete structures that fit the landscape. With the exception of the Inn, all properties have some sort of restaurant or bar. 2 - Stay on the Alta Resort property. The Goldminer's Daughter and Alta Peruvian Lodge are two historic slopeside lodges that provide both breakfast and dinner as part of your room rate. These are rustic accommodations for those looking for a "no-frills" place to crash in between days of hard skiing. 3 - Stay in SLC and shlep up/down each morning. It's about a 20-30 minute commute through avalanche-prone passages, with risks of road closures depending on weather. Although we didn't stay at the Iron Blosam during our visit, we stopped by for a few pints and a quick snack at Wildflowers (Yelp page: http://www.yelp.com/biz/wildflower-restaurant-and-lounge-snowbird) and scoped the property out while we were there. The Iron Blosam is comparable to the Inn situated next door in amenities, however this property is timeshare-owned.

I've been coming here for week 22 (first week of June) since my parents bought a timeshare in 1976. Our double unit has been remodeled and refurnished several times. The two-bed unit now has a mini fridge and microwave. The kitchen unit has a sofa sleeper and gas fireplace. Each unit has a full bathroom with tub/shower, a balcony with table and chairs, and a tv with DVD player. The family outdoor swimming pool and hot tub are on the east side of the second floor. The adult outdoor swimming pool/indoor hot tub/steam room and saunas are on the west side of the second floor. There is a game room with pool and ping pong tables and arcade games on the second floor. There are also washers and dryers. Bring quarters! There is a board game room/library on the seventh floor where you can lounge or check out items. There are movies at the front desk to borrow also. There is one pricey restaurant in the building along with vending and ice machines. Free guest wifi.

Nice resort. The staff make this condo so memorable. Everyone is willing to go out of their way to make your experience positive. The rooms are very nice, albeit a bit outdated. I suspect a renovation will be needed in the next 10 years or so. I do need to take a star off the review due to the hot tub. While it looks great, and is clean, there is WAYYY too much chlorine being used. I used to be a lifeguard and swim instructor. I know when too much chlorine is being used simply by sensing how much my skin and eyes burn. This hot tub had SO much chlorine, that my dad developed a rash/chemical burn. This is not an isolated incident. We talked with many others who experienced a similar rash. I would highly suggest management review their chemical balances.

Usually has great spring skiing. We own week 15 and it has always snowed while we're there. In the last 24 hours(4/15/15) they've had the largest snowfall (20 ") this 2015 season. Alta today has a 90" base depth and 288" of snow this season so far. The heated outdoor pool and indoor hot tub are great along with the steam room and exercise room. The complimentary Wine and Cheese on Mondays is a great way to meet fellow skiers, etc. The units are well stocked with kitchen gear, humidifiers, etc. but bring all of your favorite foods since the small market at the center has a limited and pricey selection. The tap water is very good so you shouldn't need bottled water. Week 15 is the last full week for skiing at Alta, but Snowbird remains open. Alta will reopen for some weekends. There is a big arcade/game room for kids. There is also a coin laundry. Parking is plentiful and complimentary.

The food, however, was just average. My dining partner and I ordered a salad and the steak & frites to share and we were underwhelmed. The "frites" were just regular french fries (we expected much skinnier, flavorful fries) and the steak was very overdone. It wasn't bad enough to send it back, but it didn't wow us. The pool and jacuzzi down below, however, were a nice after-drink treat. Everything was clean and well maintained and not crowded at all.

Walking the halls during the morning housekeeping sweep, we scoped out a variety of setups and interior modifications (different wall paint, furniture, stainless appliances, granite counters etc.) The Inn is the only property within the Snowbird resort area with no restaurant or bar, and with a lack of a "town" otherwise, your only food options will have you leaving the building. They have a year-round outdoor pool and hot tub, steam room, sauna, changing facilities, and a ski locker room. -- Comparing to Alta, with its rustic, cozy mountain feel there, I was a bit nervous checking into the Snowbird Inn - one of four hotel/resorts that comprise the Snowbird Resort property. Despite the upscale feel around the property however, Snowbird staff in general are super friendly and accommodating, and the Snowbird Inn was no exception! We arrived at the Inn early Monday morning, dropped our bags off, changed into our ski gear, and went off to Alta for the day (about a five-minute drive up the road). Although not the norm, they offered us a ride over to Alta in their resort Suburban, dropping us off at the historic Goldminer's Daughter Lodge where we started our ski day. After skiing and taking the free UTA bus back to Snowbird, we checked in Monday night with Barbara, who was as kind as could be. Barbara whipped out a resort map and showed us the lay of the land, consisting of the "Ski Center" and four different hotels/resorts, all within walking distance. Each hotel offers a restaurant or bar (or in the case of the Cliff Lodge, several) with different-themed cuisines at each. She made food recommendations and happily pointed out the après ski spots, based on the "scene" we were looking for. Come evening, she summoned the shuttle to give us a ride over to the Cliff Lodge, where we grabbed dinner and drinks. The next morning, she was behind the desk (she promised us she got some rest!) greeting both of us by name before offering us a copy of the New York Times. As mentioned before, the Inn has a year-round outdoor pool and hot tub, which we immediately hit after our first day out! The hot tub is big enough to hold 6-8 comfortably and the pool is perfect for when you're too hot (yes, that can happen even in the dead of winter!) or want to swim some laps to loosen up. After checking out of the Inn Tuesday morning, staff were happy to hang onto our bags and offer up their showers and changing facilities so we could ski Snowbird, then freshen up before heading back to Salt Lake City that evening. Most hotels are happy to accommodate their guests like this, but the Snowbird Inn is one of those friendly places where you don't feel funny asking. Overall, we had a phenomenal visit to the Little Cottonwood Canyon area, and we're glad we stayed on the Snowbird property - I'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. We ordered a bison burger with fries, pulled pork poutine, and blue corn nachos. The fries were limp and cold. The nachos arrived with regular corn chips instead of blue corn and were also cold. The pulled pork poutine was cold as well, and the burger was overly salty. What made the experience worse was the lack of service. We waited about 30 minutes without being checked on while the manager appeared to visit other tables. After flagging down a server, it took additional time before we were assisted. I understand that restaurants can have off nights, but this visit fell well below expectations -- especially given the price point and past experiences. Brighton's so deep in the mountains it was getting even more snow than Alta or Snowbird late season. Nonetheless, most of the skiable area was closed from late April on, and they had some really sticky slush near the bottom. I went here on the week of April 20th (the stoner holiday) not thinking anything of it, and have never seen such a high concentration of intoxicated, degenerate, drug-obsessed college kids and degenerate behavior. These kids were consuming alcohol on the runs, making fun of, laughing at and humiliating beginners, and couldn't stop chairlift blabbing about jumping people, buying alcohol underaged, and "whippets" or however you spell it, their apparent drug of choice. One of these degenerates trying to impress his female companion seemingly tried to start a fight with me for putting the bar down on the chairlift, then completely backtracked and apologized after realizing how much bigger than him I was. Having the Ikon Pass and going to Alta that same week, I wanted to find the explanatory factor for the extreme disparity in guests between here and Alta that particular week. I looked online and saw Brighton was selling day passes for only $49, and marketing their late season as an event, "The Big Melt", geared toward younger people looking to party. Most of the staff here were nice and professional, with a few exceptions. One attractive blonde girl working here was rude and standoffish when I asked what time they close, as they kept changing the closing time on a weekly basis and nobody seemed to know. If you're that rude and arrogant, you probably shouldn't be working in hospitality. Another day an older gentleman working here rushed me down the mountain when I was stopped, trying to take pictures of the view near the top of Snake Creek Express, saying they were closing the run, basically acting like I was inconveniencing him. On the upside, the night skiing and tree skiing was exceptional here when I went earlier in the season, and the girl I took said this was her favorite resort. When I tried taking her to Snowbird she had a panic attack, saying it was too steep, and had to have ski patrol take her down in the basket, so Brighton's probably more beginner friendly.
