The owner, Maria, is super conscientious, she has been haircutting me for some years, every month, and knows I hate hair tickling my ears, so she makes sure I have short hair around them. There's been a recent price increase since my last review. Usually when a business increases their prices, I usually take 1 star off from my last review as part of my ratings are based on price and value. A haircut for me is now $17 (not including tip), which is a little steep for me because I can just drive 5 minutes down the street and get a haircut for $10-12. But the lady here does a good job and takes her time getting your cut right. I've been going here regularly now for a little over a year & I've left unhappy maybe once or twice out of all the times. I usually get a haircut 3 times a month, so that's pretty good. read more

In my life all the barbers cut the hair facing you in font of the mirror but she will turn you around where you cannot see what's going on with your hairs. 3. My men love this place to get a cut. She is so very gentle and does a great job. Never has she cut or burned my boys and never rushes. Very pleasant and relaxing as my 9 year old nearly falls asleep during the cuts. Recommend her after and miss her especially during the shut down. read more

I thought I wrote a review for In the Cut before? Huh.. OK well, out of all the barbers in San Jose I've been to, this is the only place that consistently cuts my hair perfectly and still practices the art of a straight edge razor shave. There used to be a few other barbers here, but recently the owner sold it to another lady. He still works there, but now that the place has had a womans touch to it, it's much better. The walls had been painted since I was last there. They also hung up some giant mirrors that run the length of the place, opposite of the barber stations. Joe is a way talented barber. He doesn't just buzz and go. He will go after individual little hairs trying to reach perfection. It's also a good family barber. There's no playboys out in public view (though you can get one on request I'm told ) ;) Prices are decent. $12 for a mens cut. I think it's $9 for a shave. I know this is a shop operating by tight margins, so I always tip really well for my shave and haircut. I'm going to attach a picture of the haircut I got today. read more

I came here when it was owned by some else years ago I always got good hair cuts, Until it was taken over by some one else, then my hair cuts SUCKED.. The first time time I came here the owner was a true RAIDER FAN and he had all the walls covered with Raider stuff now the was are bare. There would always be different barbers cutting hair so I would hardly get the same person twice. So I stopped coming here for about 2 years ago and got my hair cut else where. Not being satisfied with the other barber shops near-by I decided to come back and try this place again. This was about 6 months ago. Now I'm HAPPY camper, I found my Asian Angel Maria! She remembers my name unlike the other barbers who worked here. She know exactly how to cut my hair. Before the cut would be 10-15 minutes and some times I had to come back because it was that bad. Now i'm sitting for about 45 minutes and I get a true hair cut, straight edge and all we even talk about current events (Libya, Japan earthquake and Tsunami) or what ever is happening, not like before everyone was quiet.. It felt like you were being herded like cattle before the slaughter. In turn for the good cut I get. I give Maria a good tip 25% because it well deserved. I found out she's a Raider Fan too and she has a light switch cover sporting the RAIDERS so I'll take her some thing next time, I have plenty of Raider stuff. Now I call her in advance make an appointment. She knows who I am by name, before I can tell her who I am. Now I don't have to wait if they're busy! Now how cool is that! Parking is plentiful even though it shares with other merchants. Thanks to Maria this my go to hair cut (as my fellow Yelpers say Hair Stylist) place and In The Cut gets 5 Stars! read more

Nice lady but her barber skills were very subpar. One barber on a Sunday afternoon? Strike one. Uneven fade on the kid in front of me? Strike two. Brady Bunch on the only TV in the place? Honestly, how do you review a hair cutting place when you do not have much hair that needs to be cut, yes I am saying I am almost bold lol. This is one of the better places to get a hair cut, they are friendly but most of all they are very consistence with their hair cuts, my boys do enjoy coming here as they know they will get their hair cuts exactly they way they want them, which for me is good. I've been here 3 times, with my cut being done by the same lady. I believe the first time was fine. The second time I noticed a spot that needed a small fix and did it myself, but the third was horrible! When I got home after the third time here, I took a close look and it was the worst fade I have gotten in my whole life, then I ended up shaving my head. read more
