I was in the mood for some Biscuits & Gravy. We were informed they were out of that and were not making more. So I decided on Eggs over easy, Country Ham, Wheat toast and Grits. Then, because I don't find them often, I ordered Fried Green Tomatoes. My wife ordered the Breakfast Special with Eggs, Hash Browns, Sausage and Fried Apples. I also got a bottle of Apple Juice and water and my wife got Coffee. We sat down, enjoying the view and talking. And talked. And talked. Finally after 50 minutes our food came. It had obviously been sitting since all the food was cold. Had we not waited so long, we would have asked for a refund and left. And on top of that, the waitress forgot my Grits. She went back to get my Grits and came back 10 minutes later with hot Grits, but after I had finished the rest of my meal. Now this is a place that requires the payment and asks for a tip when you place the order, then food is brought out to you. I entered a 15% tip and would have also added more if service was good. Ok so in the future I will opt out of tip in advance. I know staffing is low in many places but that is no excuse for cold food and spotty service. The only reason for two stars is for the great views on screened in patio by the river. But we will not be back at Kirk's.

When I rolled up, I was gruffly told that you could only get one flavor with an order. I ordered a waffle cone and the cone itself was nothing special. The ice cream itself delivered the complex dairy flavor you would hope for, and my salted caramel was mouthwatering. It's a lot to pay for one flavor of ice cream in that amount, and if I came back I'd get a cup instead, but the quality was there.

We were in West Virginia with family and our dog, and were happy to see they offer a pup cup for dogs. I went with the Blue Panda after some deliberation, but also sampled the Dark Chocolate Raspberry--both were excellent. Portions are generous for the price, and even though my cup looked small, it was still a great bang for the buck. Here's what we had: * Pistachio (cone) * Blue Panda (cup) * Cappuccino Crunch (cup) * Pup Cup (for our dog) Every flavor was delicious, and we'd definitely come back when visiting Fayetteville and the surrounding West Virginia area.

I wasn't wowed by the flavor selection -- it didn't super suit my preferences -- but we did come at the end of the day at the end of the week, so I certainly could've had better luck at a different time. We all wound up with Moose Tracks (vanilla base, fudge ribbon, peanut butter cups) and it was enjoyable, like all Moose Tracks! We were happy and it was a nice way to round out our time in WV. Inside, in the coffee portion of the space, it gives definite coffee shop vibes. Couches, armchairs, tables, books, magazines, etc. That coziness could be a big draw on a cold day. I had myself a chai tea latte from here and it was delicious. They are quick with their ordering process and making of the drink. What else is here you ask? Well, let me tell you. There is an ice cream parlor tucked away on the opposite side of the coffee shop. You can enter this through the coffee shop or from the outside entrance on the side of the building. Their hours are not very late, and I imagine there aren't a ton of passersby after dark but it's a little puzzling to me that they're not open at least until the evening in summer. The ice cream flavor selection is considerable. Given the setting, this is not a place you'd go for non-dairy frozen desserts, it is definitely ice cream. Their peanut butter cup flavor hit the spot for me. A seasonal raspberry truffle didn't quite; the raspberry flavor was strong, but there were some ice crystals and overall textural unevenness and the chocolate truffles were not present in sufficient numbers for my liking. There is also a store which houses a small amount of produce and other fresh and preserved items, as well as a deli counter with some prepared food. I didn't find a ton of interest outside of the ice cream I came for.

They also had a nice selection of clothing and accessories for both men and women. On the second floor, they have the Otter Cafe which is a coffee shop that sells pastries. My chai latte was amazing! Better than the ones I get at Starbucks in Charleston, SC. I also tried a chocolate cream horn which is basically an ice cream cone- shaped pastry with chocolate cream in the middle.
