The grounds are nice and have places to picnic and there are llamas. There is a gift shop and that is where you enter and exit and get your tickets. The caverns are pretty neat. Not super large or difficult to walk. Just be warned that there can be large school groups that could impact your visit.

My fiance got the Reuben sandwich and the peanut butter pie. Both were absolutely five star! The Reuben had plenty on it and was nicely balanced. The onion rings felt fresh and were dipped in a really delicious batter. As you can see, the peanut butter pie was huge, creamy, and really delicious with a good balance of cream cheese flavor. The chicken pot pie did not disappoint either! It was a bowl of the creamy chicken mixture with a ridiculous amount of actual chicken in it (both light and dark meat). It was topped by a layer of some flaky and delicious pastry. There was just enough of everything, though. It was a lot to eat, and I was unable to finish it all. The tomato cucumber salad was okay, I tend to not like my vegetables as marinated as they were, but it still had good taste. The biggest disappointment was the creme brulee. Don't get me wrong, it tasted amazing and came out perfectly bruleed! But it was the same price as the peanut butter pie, and was extremely misleading and how much was actually there. When looking at the dish it was served in, the entire bottom. Half of the dish was ceramic with a very narrow full to actually place anything in. In the end, I think I got about half the amount of creme that I expected. It did not feel like it was worth the money, so I would not recommend ordering it. That being said, we will definitely make a point of stopping here to eat on every trip in the future, though we might just both end up with peanut butter pie!!

Each holiday the store carries classy items that make the store a local favorite place to shop. Connected to the gift shop is a pharmacy with a fabulous little lunch cafe that serves fresh sandwiches and burgers on the grill. Everyone that stops in seems to know each other and the family feeling makes the whole shopping and dining experience a pleasant one . There were several restaurants including Popeyes and Wendy's as well as Starbucks. I ordered a single with cheese at Wendy's. There were several people waiting so I checked out the Mountain State Market to look for some Marshall University items. The store sold huge popcorn containers as well as several different sauces and preserves. There were West Virginia t-shirts and other items like mugs. They also had and over the counter drug section. My single with cheese was ready in about 7-8 minutes. Then I was back on the road again. I would stop here again as I liked the various options and the wait wasn't bad considering how busy it was.

Soft and amazing t shirt designs, plenty of ornaments, post cards - all the kitschy local stuff- just perfect! There are 2 free regular parking spots for the gift shop with a one hour limit in the ADA lot but employees must park there because on multiple days they were taken. Parking is super cheap with the meters, you just have to walk across from the other lot.

Most people would assume that this may be a place for ice cream and you'd be partially right. This place is a mix of things that you would not expect. First and foremost, it is a well used coffee shop. Even though there is a well known national competitor right up the road. There is a steady stream of vehicles in and out throughout the day. Inside, in the coffee portion of the space, it gives definite coffee shop vibes. Couches, armchairs, tables, books, magazines, etc. That coziness could be a big draw on a cold day. I had myself a chai tea latte from here and it was delicious. They are quick with their ordering process and making of the drink. What else is here you ask? Well, let me tell you. There is an ice cream parlor tucked away on the opposite side of the coffee shop. You can enter this through the coffee shop or from the outside entrance on the side of the building. This area, then leads you to another location on the lot. Putt-Putt. Behind the building, there is a miniature golf course built into the hillside. One that is West Virginian history themed.
