I read that this is a good place to find a great bottle of wine, and it's true. Old World Market will satisfy the indulgent, bougie food lover in you -- the food lover who likes pretty charcuterie boards made from thinly sliced prosciutto shaped into flowers. And it will indulge the wine lover in you -- the one who likes a good glass of wine. It's a small store. Surprisingly small, actually! But along with wine and meats and cheeses, you'll find specialty food items like Swedish Pippi Longstocking candy (what?), pasta in all shapes and sizes, cookies, teas, oils and lots of imported goodies. You'll mostly find food imported from Europe: Italy and Nordic countries, specifically. They offer readymade sandwiches and small charcuterie boxes to go, for those of us who want to live deliciously but also have stuff to do elsewhere. Basically, this is a great place to visit to find something delectable to eat or drink in Valparaiso.

I'd say at least once a month they have a deal so remarkable that I scamper over here to load up on that item. Last week they had Old Orchard apple juice, fairly big jug for 98¢. I came in just for that. Bought a dozen. I get a little sheepish like I'm taking advantage, but the clerks are glad to see you and glad you're getting a great deal. No need to worry if you aren't picking up your whole week's worth of groceries, they couldn't be nicer. They also always have a nice selection of seasonal items wether that's pumpkins and mums in the fall or Christmas wreaths and poinsettias after Thanksgiving. I was not a fan of the amount of sauce that came with this burger. The burger itself did not have any flavor. It looked like there was some pepper in the meat, but I could not taste anything. The brioche bun disintegrated in my mouth after each bite. My experience with a bun like this is it was either frozen or it is stale. Not sure why the bun was bad since it was their special that day. I chose poorly with a burger. Every other time I went, I got the Yakisoba noodles with short rib ribs. The noodles with the short ribs are the best in town and probably the best in Northwest Indiana.
