My brother goes here often for birthday cakes, mother's day, etc. and everything has been absolutely delicious and so fresh!

While the chocolates are beautiful, they were lacking on the flavor. If I'm getting a flavored chocolate I want it to have a punch. A couple of the flavors I could even make out the flavor I was eating. No the frogs that were "turtle" chocolates, those were tasty. read more

Amazing, the chocolates do not look real. They're delicious, what a treat. We'll definitely be back.

most delicious chocolate in the world! it is so flavorful and so much attention goes into it. the pricing is amazing as well.

Rude service when I was there to expensive chocolate. 8$ for a fun sized chocolate what a ripoff

Chocolate is always amazing. I have my favorites.. Their bakery case is delicious as well. Likewise their owners are just as sweet it's always great catching up with them. read more

I was extremely impressed with the chocolate here. I have eaten quite a lot of caramel in my life and this was one of the best I've ever had- a wonderful smooth texture, a bit smoky. Just between liquid and solid. Buttery brow sugar flavor. On top of that the hand marbling on some of the pieces in the cases is amazing work clearly done with a steady hand. The owners are extremely knowledgeable, and went into deep explanations for every question I had from where the chocolate came from to the techniques used for decoration. On top of this there are some genuinely creative flavor combos that are apparently changed quite regularly- red wine, jasmine tea, tequila lime. I think if you like chocolate and you are in the area this is a must stop. read more

Always a unique experience. The best chocolate around. Great macarons, tarts, and other desserts! read more

A bit pricey.. but who cares it's a treat after all. The pastries are good however they only offer a couple varieties to choose between or that's been my experience each time I've visited. So my 3 stars given are for the quantity not the quality . read more

Go here. Seriously. Go here. Evolution is AMAZING!! Seriously. Amazing. We bought chocolate for one of our friends who is a throat cancer survivor. This was the first chocolate that he has been able to taste since his cancer battle. The owners are so great and so Friends. Richard is an artist and master with the chocolate. They make chocolate works of art from Eifle Towers, to shoes, to elephants and so much more. They make giant Macaron cakes for birthdays. Their marshmallows are handmade and to die for. The are as light as air and NOTHING like store bought. I plan on going her to get Easter candy and deserts. My 15 year old loves them and every time we go there, they are always willing to answer any question he has and explain everything. They are patient with him and so sweet. Some stuff can be pricey (it depends on the person) but they have things that are totally reasonable. Their handmade bon bons and candy can be either $1 to $2 each so there is something for everyone. Even chocolate covered crickets. Just go there. read more

Literally the best chocolate and confections I've ever had! Service is always superb. These people are artists not a candy shop. So lucky to live so close! read more

Creative and expensive. Buy for that special someone. Unique for Valparaiso. Everything is made on-site.

I was gifted a Milk Chocolate Frangelico Dome from Evolution Artisan Confections and it was to die for!! It was very obvious that a lot of precision, time and passion were put into each dessert. Definitely will be getting more desserts from here! :) read more

Evolution Artisan Confections - A Milk Chocolate Frangelico Dome - Desserts Near Me - Valparaiso, Indiana

Prepare to be amazed! Chocolate shop or candy store doesn't even come close to describing this fine establishment. Evolution Artisan Confections has the finest chocolates and pastries I've ever had in my life. They are, by far, the best you'll find in the area. My mom and I were out and about one day and I suggested we stop in and see what this place was all about. I could see the display cases full of delicious looking little chocolates before we even got in the door. Being the lover of fine chocolates that I am, I was grinning from ear to ear like a child on Christmas morning. When we walked in, we were greeted by a very friendly lady who happened to be the wife of the pastry chef who is the mastermind behind all of the artfully created deliciousness. She was very helpful in explaining all about the chocolates and was even kind enough to allow us to sample some of them. These confections are almost too beautiful to eat.....almost. One taste had me hooked. Every single one that we tried in the store and the ones we bought were unbelievably delicious. Like nothing I've ever had before. Everything was so delicious that I had to make a return trip later that same day. This time I had the pleasure of meeting Richard, the chocolatier who creates all of these little gems. He was just as friendly as his wife and he gave samples of his latest batch of fresh caramel, dark chocolate ganache and I believe I was given a sample of his lychee rose ganache also. The things this man does with chocolate and various other ingredients are nothing short of magical. The effort and love that he puts into everything he creates is very evident. If you love chocolate and pastries that are unlike anything else you'll find around here, look no further than Evolution. Everything is masterfully crafted and packaged beautifully. Richard and Suzie are great people with a passion for what they do. Stop in and see the fine folks at Evolution and treat yourself or someone else to a piece of unbelievably delicious edible art. read more

This place is absolutely fantastic. I went in a few weeks ago for the first time and noticed that just the appearance alone of the chocolates and desserts were just so elegant and neat! I was so excited to try them. Richard, the owner, was working behind the counter and described each and every dessert to me. The care and love that he puts into his creations is amazing. He pays so much attention the all of the small little details of desserts and making them better. For him, it truly is an art. I tried lots of different chocolates and treats from him since then and have never been disappointed! My absolute favorite is Glass of Wine. It's a chocolate he makes with wine inside--just amazing! Hands down the best chocolate I've ever had in my life. Some other favorites are the tarts with Pear and berries. I don't even usually eat berries, but this tart was amazing! The apple caramel bon bons are also delicious! I want to try his S'mores creation next! What I love about coming here is that Richard treats every single customer like family. He will most definitely treat you like a neighbor and a human being and not just a customer or a number. :) Props to Evolution! And I hope they have many more great years ahead of them! read more

I am absolutely in love with everything that comes out of this shop. I wish I would have know about it earlier. It takes serious effort to not go visit and buy more chocolate every day of the week . This is honestly one of the best chocolates I've ever been to in the states. My favorite is the white chocolate passion fruit. read more

Amazing. Not only are the chocolates here extremely beautiful to look at it but they are very delicious. I love dark chocolate and they do a wonderful job of making it taste creamy and rich. The store is really nice inside, very clean and the lady working there was super friendly. They have these pear tarts and while I did not buy one I am regretting that. So I will be back and get one for sure! It is a bit of a drive for me but next time I'm out in Valparaiso I'll stop by. read more

I have only been here twice but the chocolate is like any chocolate you would find in Belgium or Paris. It's the perfect combo of sweet and bitter, melts perfectly and has amazing combos! Each piece is so beautiful. A little pricy to be sure but you pay for what you get here! read more

I have gotten hot chocolate bombs from here, and they are "da bomb"! They're made with quality ingredients and taste amazing! I would highly recommend this! I have also gotten chocolate from there. Though it's a little expensive, it's so much better than Hershey. The lady at the counter was friendly. The location was small but clean. They have many tasty items that I have yet to sample but look amazing such as their tarts and custom cakes! read more

Evolution Artisan Confections - HOT TASTY TREAT, and beautiful too. - Desserts Near Me - Valparaiso, Indiana

Expensive? Yes. Worth it? You bet it is! This place makes some of the best chocolates around despite being in a plaza where one would easily just drive right by without ever knowing. They have chocolate infused with this special whiskey/scotch (I don't recall) l, and it is exceptional for those that like that taste. Many different things to try and I recommend you come with a sweet tooth. read more

I am obsessed with Evolution! They have the most delicious bon bons on earth. Each one is handcrafted to perfection with fresh ingredients! My favorite flavor is the bananas foster... I'm getting a sweet tooth just thinking about it! read more

The best macaroons I've ever tried they taste so good and have a perfect texture. I would recommend this place to everyone 100%

One of Valpo's true gems! I phoned in an order for a Frangelico chocolate mousse cake and giant French fruit tart a few days before my grandfather's 80th birthday. The folks at Evolution were a pleasure to work with and really knocked it out of the park. Frangelico cake: grandpa said it was the best chocolate cake he'd ever tasted. Everyone else agreed. It had chocolate mousse, a financier layer, toffee, macaron decorations, and hazelnut-caramel shooters on top! It was a showstopper. We want to order the Maker's Mark version for Christmas. 5/5 Fruit Tart: It was huge and had a very striking presentation. Flaky pastry, sweet pastry cream, and the classic assortment of fresh fruit painted with shiny apricot glaze. Just like Paris. A great option for those who aren't huge fans of chocolate. 5/5 Macarons: these are the real measure of a patisserie's quality. The macarons at Evolution were extremely good. They were crisp, light, airy, and had the correct amount of filling. The real deal and a great bargain -- I think they were only $1 each when most shops charge closer to $2. 5/5 Nitro coffee: served over ice and extremely delicious. Wish I had ordered a large glass. 5/5 In summary, Evolution Artisan Confections reminds me of patisseries in France. The quality is there. They use the best ingredients and tell you about them. Top-notch service and such a great addition to Valpo and the surrounding region. read more

One thing that I need to confess... I'm not big into chocolate like some people. However, I have an appreciation for good chocolate when I taste it (I prefer dark to milk chocolate). That said, Evolution Artisan is simply amazing. I tried the Tequila Lime chocolate and here's my conclusion... they have taken chocolate making to an art level. Each chocolate seems to have been made with great care not only for presentation but in pairing tastes. The one I tried was so incredible so I had to pick up some for my wife. I remember visiting a chocolate exhibit in a San Diego museum. What started with the Aztecs quickly became a prized possession for the European wealthy. Evolution Artisan actually helps us appreciate chocolate for what it truly is - a prized possession not just available to the wealthy but actually for everyone. I, for one, am thrilled they landed in Valparaiso and intend to accompany my wife when she's on a chocolate rampage! read more

Wonderful chocolates! Friendly and helpful staff. This stuff just melts in your mouth! So delicate and smooth. Each piece is a work of art!

Unfortunately the word artisan has been overused by aspiring crafts people for the last decade or more, but it's well deserved at Evolution Artisan Confections, Richard is truly a master. He loves what he does, and it shows in his product and his enthusiasm. All the different chocolates (in many forms), entremets & other desserts, real macarons (nothing like macarOOns) and other items are little works of art - and they taste even better than they look. There's something for any palate there too, from milk chocolate caramels to some very exotic & original flavor combinations, and many, many choices in between. We've been fortunate to have sampled many of the world's best chocolates (visited many too) and Evolution could easily compete in Chicago or anywhere else. But you'd pay double or more at any upscale/boutique Chicago or other big city chocolate shop. Tremendous value for the products they offer. My biggest question is how did a wonderful shop like this land in Valparaiso? An unexpected gem! read more

This place is beautiful, the chocolates are amazing & the owners are the nicest people you will ever meet. We drove up from Bourbonnais & decided to try it out. I will drive back to Valpo JUST to come back and get more chocolate. I tried several & cannot, honestly tell you which was my favorite. Be warned however, when the chocolatier/owner cautions you that the 'Super Creeper" chocolate is hot; he's not kidding. It's made from ghost peppers & my husband had to spit it out ( though my 13 year old son powered through his-barely) read more

Magical! The desserts and chocolates made here are incredible. The pear-caramel tart was divine. The macarons are light and airy, and they melt in your mouth. The chocolates are creative and, of course, sinfully good. Evolution is a wonderful find in Valporaiso. So worth a visit! read more

Amazing chocolates! I found out about this shop on yelp actually, and after reading all the positive reviews decided to buy a box for Valentines Day for myself and my hubby. Wow the chocolates are amazing. So many different, unique flavored and very reasonably priced. The chocolates are beautiful, like little pieces of art. The lady who was working that day was one of the owners and was so friendly and very knowledgable about the chocolates. Will definitely return to try more... Although I was surprised.. Not a white chocolate fan but the passion fruit... So good! And their turtles are to die for. Will definitely return regardless of what the scale says haha :) read more
