I love this place because it's right next to me and they offer drinks that aren't just sugar and food coloring. Matcha smoothie and literally all of their real fruit smoothies are so good and you have the option to change the milk or add protein powder. Went in for the first time this morning and won't be returning. We had two simple orders and both were wrong. When the barista handed me my coffee, in the car, the lid wasn't on all the way and spilled all over myself and the car. She watched the whole thing happen and didn't even apologize for not securing the lid. She just stood there, while I had to ask for some napkins. Very poor service and untrained on how to make a simple drink. read more

I went here the other day and the drinks were pretty good! We ordered 2 drinks and I thought they were both supposed to come with a bean. Only one did. Service was scattered. There was 1 girl in there who seemed like she was holding down the fort very well! She was super friendly and helpful and looked like she was doing everyone else's job. Which is great! But the two other girls were not super friendly and were in shorts and flip flops and kind of looked like they rolled out of bed. I've worked in local coffee for about 5 years and I was shocked to see them look like that. Like I understand being yourself and I wish I could wear flip flops to work but I'd probably spill burning coffee on my feet. Just seemed a bit risky and unprofessional. Quick, reasonably priced and coffee is pretty good. My only hesitation in going more often is they are similar to Dutch Bros in the whole "let me be your best friend in 5 mins" customer service. I don't need a 100 questions at 730 A.M.. staff is nice but clueless to body language and lack of interest in talking about every detail of my day. Being an Oregon native, I've been a Human Bean customer for almost 20 years and was thrilled to see them expand into Arizona. Unfortunately, the quality of the coffee and service didn't translate to here. I'd normally forgive one bad experience with getting my order wrong, taking forever (well it seemed like it anyway) to acknowledge me and take my order, not properly wearing a mask, forgetting the all important coffee bean, the unprofessional behavior, e.g., employees cursing, talking about the party they went to, or their recent dating experience, etc., plus not too mention the ridiculous banter they seem to want to engage with me in, which if I wanted that I'd go to Dutch Bros, but this seems to be occurring on a regular basis at the 2 Human Bean's I regularly go to (16th St and Maryland & 43rd St and Baseline). My advise is avoid The Human Bean unless you like subpar coffee, not getting what you ordered, being ignored, and hearing unprofessional conversations. read more

I was super excited to try the human bean because I drive by it every day on my way to work and it's never busy. I decided to try it this morning and I was greeted by a woman who took my drink order she was super nice and then I pulled up to the window and the man working inside who had glasses on and brown hair didn't even say anything to me was looking the other way asked if I ordered a "something something with cream" and I had ordered an ocean water energy drink with cream because I wanted to try a Red Bull Italian soda (I told this to the lady who took my order too so i'm not sure how this happened) I assume that's what he said and I said yes. he handed me a coffee and I asked what it was in case I just confused what the ocean water would look like and he said it's a java some thing with cream?? like me asking and I was the biggest inconvenience of his day and I said I ordered a ocean water with cream and he goes an ocean water with cream?? and I said yeah I'm sorry I don't drink coffee.. he pulled out his little card reader thing and is super rude about it told me that's not what I ordered and he doesn't have that on his screen. he literally grabbed the drink back out of my hand and angrily made the ocean water with cream. literally such an awful experience i started crying as i drove away. be nicer to people you never know what kind of day they're having. read more
