I am writing this review regarding the assistance I received today from SHAON in the hardware department. I asked if he could help me remove a very tight-fitting back on a clock. It seemed like an impossible task to me, but he did it! This involved at least 15 minutes of his time. Afterwards he used WD-40 to make it easier for me the next time I have to change the battery. He cheerfully went to a great deal of trouble and I am very appreciative. This is the kind of customer service that will keep me returning to the store again and again. read more

I bought a GE washer dyer Feb 2024. The front loading washer started to leak September 2026. I had bought a 4 year $199 extended warranty which includes repair of replacement. Allstate runs the plan. I called they approved a technician to inspect. They did and the large front gasket had a small crack in the front. I was told a report would be submitted for parts and repair. The repair and replacement parts was approved and the repair appointment was booked. It was then cancelled as the part could not be sources. Then they said they would replace or reimburse me for the washer. Then they said they will only reimburse me for the washer short a $100 of what I paid. Telling me they can get a replacement washer. I showed then screen shots that Home Depot was still selling and for cheaper of the same washer and could not understand why they can't find one. It seems there is not true protection plan and it is easier to not put the effort into resolving the problem and get me a new machine and putting that completely on me for extra costs. Why pay $199 for an extended warranty when it really isn't a warranty that truly resolves and support the consumer. My waring is DO NOT buy major appliances from Home Depot. read more

** I have a FULLY documented timeline, with all emails and communications and receipts for my experience with Home Depot kitchen "design" which I sent in and had absolutely NO response. ** If you are looking for expertise and help with Kitchen Renovations, I urge you to reconsider if you are thinking about using Home Depot on Cambie. Over the 8 months from when we first approached them about the renovation until when they FINALLY got everything they had committed to "complete", it was an absolute nightmare. We first approached their "kitchen designer" in September 2024 and gave her our maximum budget that she promised she could easily stick to. The first couple of months until handed over the initial money was great, she guided us to take a certain type of cabinet and counter top to fit our budget constraints. She was very helpful and friendly. She advised me to apply for a Home Depot credit card and pay on that because there was 2 - 3 years of 0% Interest on it) As soon as money changed hands, her whole attitude changed. Her responses became few and far between and when she did reply, it was often hostile and blaming us for her mistakes. The cabinets arrived and nobody showed up to install them. We tried calling and emailing with no replies. When she finally replied, she had "forgotten" to book the installation... And then told us that she had also forgotten to charge us for it. She charged us for PREMIUM installation, when that included things we didn't need. When we challenged this to ask why we didn't get STANDARD installation, that was repeatedly ignored. On installation, the installer pointed out that multiple things had been mis-measured, meaning that there were HUGE void spaces that would be wasted behind cabinets and could have been used for more cabinet space and to make doors wider, etc... Also, the space left for the fridge was the exact measurements of the fridge, meaning that the fridge actually wouldn't open if it was pushed in all the way (because the door couldn't move). Any attempts to relay this to the "designer" were answered with "well YOU signed off on the design" ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY. The installer, Kostya, was SO amazing and professional and made cuts and adjustments to make what he had been provided with work. He then pointed out that because the "design" involved pushing cabinets back (rather than increasing the depth as the "designer" said she would do) that there would be a large area of the kitchen where there was no flooring, meaning that we had to get a patch refloored. Finally he pointed out that there was an entire cabinet missing! Again, the "designer" blamed us, saying we had missed it when we signed off on the order. She ordered it and outrageously told us "You have to wait another few weeks for the cabinet to be made and delivered but I have managed to get you a discount on the cabinet to make up for the trouble" and still charged us for HER mistake! She also hadn't ordered cabinet handles. When we queried this, she told us that we hadn't picked or paid for handles (even though my wife clearly picked handles in the in person meeting!) Despite being told the contrary, the repair and painting of the backsplash was not included in the installation, so we had to get another contractor to do this. The "designer" did not include disconnect and reconnect of gas stovetop so we had to get another contractor to do that. When we contacted the countertop company, they informed us that the Home Depot "designer" had not sent any order information to them, so we had to arrange this all ourselves. They also informed us that there would be a $500 fee for using the current sink (and that Home Depot should have told us this - which they definitely did not) They also gave a quote of more than double what the Home Depot "designer" had quoted, so we had to pick their cheaper countertop stone to try to lower the price. Suddenly I got messages from the Home Depot credit card company stating that my interest free period was coming to an end. When I called Citibank, the credit card company, I was told that 12 - 36 months of interest free credit is not something they offer. When I contacted the "designer" about this, she again did not take any accountability. After we got the countertop installed, the stove top did not fit in the gap because the Home Depot "designer" had not accounted for the fact that the new countertop was 1 inch thinner and so we had to ask the installer to come back and manually adjust the oven cabinet to lower the bottom of it so that the stove top (just) fit in. In total, the cost came to over 1.6 x our original budget, forcing us to go thousands of dollars into debt to be able to pay for it. At NO point did we get an apology from the "designer"... Quite the opposite, we got gaslighted and blamed for her mistakes. read more

Home Depot want to sell you things but when it comes to installing them, they are unreliable. I am waiting now 5 days for a call from an installer that was promised to me within 24 hours. I don't know who the installer is. I don't have a contact phone number just the general phone number which is rarely answewred by the person you want to talk to and more often by a recording. I am old enough to remember knowledgeable experts being in the store and making on the spot recommendations enabling me to make quick buying decisions. They don't have to make that effort anymore. The store is so big that everybody's first goto is Home Depot. The staff that Home Depot hires today are ignorant about the products that Home Depot sells. But in their ignorance they are good at thrashing the competition (i.e. "you won't have to wait as long as you do at Rona's"). Go and fuck yourself, Home Depot! read more

The products were with the wrong price tags on the shelf. They were messed up so it was difficult for customers to find the right products. Also, when we tried to scan the product at the self check-out station, the employee there came to us right away and said, "I can do it for you" while we did not need her assistance. Then she said, "You got it" after I scanned the product and she left. If customers need help, they would ask for assistance. This happened previously and it was unnecessary. This is a smaller Home Depot. When I say smaller, I mean no free parking, they don't have all typical things they have at Home Depot. One time I came here looking for a closet door and they told me those are special orders. Yes they did say that. I was like huh!! Ok ..... So I didn't bother with it. They do in fact have quite a bit of seasonal stuff on sale. Such as Christmas decorations, Halloween decorations and etc. they have everyday supplies as well such as detergent, mops etc. I guess their clientele are the people in the condo looking for convenience. If you order through Home Depot Decorating Centre, you'd better hope you get exactly what you're expecting, because their customer service and commitment to their products is horrendous. I ordered blinds for various windows and a patio door in Spring of 2022. They sent out both a designer, and an installer to measure for the blinds, and they were to be ready in 4 to 6 weeks. After 2 months, I was notified that the installation would be delayed until August because there was no hardware included with the order. When the blinds were installed in August, despite having two separate individuals come for measurements, all the valance heights were hung at very different levels to each other, and there was no standard between them. The valance in the living room is in line with the window frame. The valance in the dining room is THREE AND A HALF INCHES above the window frame. Despite the lack of quality in the installation, I contacted Home Depot to request that they only fix or replace the blinds in the dining room that were hung absurdly high, almost at the ceiling height. In spite of many contacts with the installer, the design expert and a home depot customer service representative, they all passed off responsibility, promised to have someone in management call me, and never followed through. A year later, my dining room blind still sits just off the ceiling. read more

I just bought a fridge here, really, I just did, and even though it's not at my home just yet (as requested by me) I have to give the sales guy, and this store it's due. This is not the closest one to my house, and this is definitely an urban-city Home Depot. Located where all the hustle and bustle of Cambie/Broadway is strategically placed for those who don't have a car, right along a Skytrain line, yet they still have all the big stuff if you have a house. If you buy something here, you can get your parking reimbursed, as it's the same parking lot as that for Save On Foods and Winners. They have everything that other HD's have... from light bulbs, to tiles, to big appliances, and it's pretty easy to find some help lurking around the isles. It's a full on HD just put into a non-warehouse environment. The only beef I have.. and it's not their fault.. but more like their loss prevention.. is the shopping carts which have a mechanism that locks the wheels. Everytime I go.. and I need a cart, it's hard to find.. and when I find one.. it's impossible to move cause someone probably tried to take the thing off premises.. and the wheels are locked up, and impossible to move.. like a cave man rolling a cart with square wheels. One of the places I've used to buy pieces and parts for the current renovation going on. If you really walk around sometimes you find good deals... like my fridge.. as it was a display model, and luckily for me.. they can keep it there.. only for a short time.. before they ship it to me.. as I need to get the floor done before this new beauty comes. I'm very unsatisfied with the decorating department. I ordered some blinds for my living room and bedroom. The first time the installer came one set of blinds was not measured properly (she blamed the factory which didn't cut it exact), she tried to push it in and dented my wall and scratched the paint off my wall. After many tries she finally gave up, and said will bring this to a local store for a resize. Also mentioned will repaint my wall. The second time (after 1 week) she came back with the "resized" blinds, but still did not fit! She blamed the local shop which probably did not resized it and still call her to pick it up. The 3rd time (after 2 weeks) she came back with the fitted blinds and installed it. And help me painted my walls (but they are still dented) However I found out the insert (top bar/cover for the blinds) was dirty, spotted with a few black marks. She blamed the cutting shop that there's some glue there and they dirtied it. She said will order new ones for me and will come back to install it. Now I have been waiting for more than 1 month for her to come back. Still no news. I called HD few times to file/complain about it. Everytime they say "wait for the job to complete, will reimburse me then" and "will contact the installer to call me". Home Depot promised me will not charge me until the job is done. (I paid 50% of the grand total at the beginning, and suppose to pay the rest when job is done), however, they have already charged me full price. I called and complain about that too, but all they said was the installer said it is completed therefore they charged. They have wasted me over 3 months, just to get my blinds installed, and still not complete yet! Do not even think about their blinds service!! Update: At the end, I contacted BBB (Better Business Bureau) about the whole situation. Got $250 reimbursement. I have never been so frustrated with a company before. I placed an online order in the beginning of May for patio furniture, I have been charged for this purchase and have not received the package. The currier company said the shipping has been canceled and home depot says it is on route. I have tried calling home depot several times. The first two times they said they are two busy try calling another day and today I was on hold for over two hour when I finally got a call back they said they were closing and would not take my call!!! And, their online capabilities either won't process an order, or process and then leave you hanging. I was hung up on by the PRO desk at 11:42am on 6.4.2021 when attempting to cancel order 220990218.0 - the guy was condescending and rude! He did not hear, me, when telling them I do not have the ability to cancel on my end online. The text message via viasat was also unavailable and when making that selection, it also hangs up on me. I had one callback whereby it did not ring and auto-hung up. This has been a waste of four hours, today! More hours will need to be put in to ensure my bank does NOT process this order! read more

I ordered a Traegar 780 pro for a birthday present. I ordered it so it would be delivered so that I didn't have to deal with the 150 lb box by myself and I ordered it so that it would be delivered 2 weeks prior to the birthday party we would be using it at. When it was not delivered on time, I contacted customer service and was told it would be delivered the following week, a full week late. So that we could plan the menu for the party, I had to ruin the surprise and tell my partner that's what he would be getting. It was not delivered by Thursday, I struggled through Home Depot's terrible customer service for three days before I was told it would be delivered the following Monday, which was too late for the party. When I told them this was not good enough, I was offered a $50 gift card. Monday has come and gone and I still have not received either my order or the gift card and I've been given no updates. They also will not let me cancel so I can go buy it elsewhere. I absolutely will never order from Home Depot again and you shouldn't either. read more

We recently bought a dryer from Home Depot and had it delivered. Cascadia is contracted as Home Depot's appliance delivery company. Cascadia is based in Surrey. The duo who were to deliver our dryer was 30+ minutes late. When I answered the door I noticed the gentleman was not wearing a mask and not following Home Depot mandated and advertised COVID protocols. I asked him to get his mask whereupon he stated he had, "lost" his. I insisted he go back to the truck and, "find" his which he grudgingly did. As it had been raining all day I asked him to remove his shoes before entering our home. His partner who had brought the dryer to our door mumbled something and decided just to enter, dirty shoes and all. He then looked to see how to install the hoses and vent for the steam dryer. This second obstinate gentleman stated that according to the, "contract" the vent had to be brand new. I showed him the box and the bill from Home Depot attesting to the brand-newness of the vent. He then said the clamps for the vent also had to be brand new. I looked into the vent kit, but could not find any clamps. He then stated that according to his contract he would be liable if brand new clamps were not used. As it was useless to reason with him I simply stated I would attach the vent using my old clamps. He then looked at the hoses to connect to the steam dryer. To make things easier I had already attached all the hoses except to the steam dryer. He repeated that all the connecting hoses had to be brand new - according to this contract. I asked to see the contract with all these provisos, but he said I should phone the President of Cascadia and of Home Depot to get the details. I showed him the newly purchased steam kit from Home Depot. As he was finding every obtuse reason NOT to do any installations, I asked him to leave. This duo did absolutely nothing but deliver the dryer -30 minutes late. They did nothing but offer excuses, and I basically bought all the parts and installed my own steam dryer. If you buy an appliance make sure that Cascadia is not the delivery company. read more

This post is a warning to make sure that when Home Depot contracts out your delivery and install for appliances, you DON'T use Cascadia Distributions. In my experience, a dryer was ordered, then it was backordered, then it was un-backordered, I received multiple calls about different / conflicting delivery dates and times. They deliver, but refuse to install the dryer even though it was paid for. Had to have them come back another day to haul away the old one and roped my super into helping me do the install myself. Of course, the new one was broken and didn't work. This would have been a nice opportunity for Home Depot or Cascadia to make things right but of course that was out of the cards since they don't care about customer service whatsoever. So we scheduled another new one to be delivered - it of course was also backordered, I received multiple calls about different / conflicting dates and times. I also spoke to numerous people in customer service to understand if they could do the install, some said yes, some said no, some said maybe depends (couldn't get a straight answer), ultimately the team showed up, refused to do anything but put the dryer on the floor, I begged them to at least put it on top of the washer to save my back, this apparently was a huge ask... I'm going to install it myself tonight but god help me if this one is broken too. We're at a 6 week mark on this ordeal and 2 dryers later. The saddest part is they could improve their service tremendously if they just a) were clearer about expectations b) trained their customer service team to speak the same language c) were more entrepreneurial and for a fee would handle the install. They could make so much money, but instead they put their hands up and refuse to be helpful with minor tasks. I assume there is some union / liability issues at play here but seriously, this is a horrifically inefficient system and I can't believe Home Depot contracts with them and doesn't raise their standards or demand some kind of level of quality. Maybe Home Depot just doesn't care. They clearly benefit from using a third party and it not being their problem. read more

One of America's largest home improvement retailer opened chain stores in Canada. The selections are huge, it sells almost everything you use for home improvement. They always have some staffs on the floor to help out the customers, however, they're not all knowledgeable and helpful. Especially this location! My hubby regularly shops at home improvement stores like I shop at supermarkets weekly! We wanted DIY for automatic sprinkler at back yard and side walk. We went to different home depot to get kit and heads due to some stores are out of stock. We asked the staff to help and explain about sprinkler head nozzle adjustment but he had no clue. My hubby was a bit disappointed but he has a good friend to ask (Google). We bought and installed it successfully. read more

Great location for us DT urbanites; surprised with my plethora of reviews that I have neglected to write for this location. Used to go to the one closer to Knight/Terminal, which while it's larger, higher ceilings and an abundance of parking, the Cambie is much more convenient, and compact. My favourite section is Aisle #27 -- the storage/organizer. For the most part, find it's better value than Ikea, and obviously, less headache. And easier to flag someone down too. Usually their sales are right at the front..which by the way, their ground entrance (facing Wendy's) kinda sucks with those weird, staggered doors. read more

I never, in a million years, thought I would write a 2 star for a Home Depot. But here we are. Please note - this review is solely based on rentals, and will not reflect the store in it's entirety. I'm a Home Depot addict. So much so, that I usually require adult supervision when entering. I have a habit of buying three gallons of paint for no apparent reason or convincing myself I need a laser level... every 3 months. So when the occasion arose that I had to rent a power tool - I was tickled pink. The rental prices are good. Not the cheapest as advertised but fair for the equipment. It's always in good shape and the service staff are quick to get you exactly what you need. This was not my first time renting from HD, and all my previous experiences were top notch. So why was this two star? Some time in the last year, they changed their rental policy. You see, I am one of those odd humans who subsist without a credit card. I have a Visa/Debit for online purchases and traveling to the states but there isn't even a back up credit card in this here wallet. That being said, i've never had an issue with it. As more and more people are switching to pre-paid Visas or the Visa/Debit cards, most rental places are good about flexing their rental policies to allow us Visa/Debit toters to put down a deposit. In the last month, I have rented from A&B Party Rentals, A&B Tools, Long & McQuade & Blim without issue. Most of which, was for equipment that was FAR more expensive then the belt sander I had my eye on. Quick deposit down and I'm on my merry way. Even my last experience at HD was easy peasy. But I guess that somewhere along the lines they changed their rental system and you can no longer rent via Visa/Debit. Why? Because they cannot issue a refund via Debit. ... though, you can easily do so at the refund/exchange counter... What if I take the refund in cash? ... It would be too confusing for the staff. What if I leave a deposit in cash? To pick up on return? ... Someone who have to be held accountable, and that's too confusing for the staff. Big sigh. I find it a little absurd that in an era where Visa/Debit is becoming more and more of a norm, they would choose to go BACKWARDS in their system upgrades and deny something that was easily done but a year ago. And with so many other rental places jumping on the band wagon, it seems ridiculous that a big name like HD would not adjust to meet that demand. After a half hour, I left disappointed and empty handed. Wag of the finger home depot. No frivolous paint purchases in the near future for you. read more

The worst experience I have ever had from a retailer. I would strongly recommend that no one uses the Home Depot for any of their home installation services as they are absolutely terrible. They source everything out to unreliable 3rd parties, so when it comes down to complaints, the store will have no answers, and will keep making false promises that you will receive call backs and then you won't. I had a design consultant in my apartment on April 22nd, and was told I would have my blinds installed in 5-7 weeks. 7 weeks pass and I hear nothing back. I call in to the 1-888 number on my contract to launch a complaint and I am told I will get a call back in 48 hours, but once again no contact back. At this point I call the store to resolve the matter but once again the store is deflecting the blame to 3-D Interiors (the 3rd party company they use). Robert Newton the department manager has been no help through this process, and hasn't even been able to coordinate some sort of discount back to try to keep me happy as a customer. I have constantly had to phone the store to follow up, and now am just going through the process of getting my money back because there is no chance I am continuing with their services. Lesson learned to always use small local retailers rather than a big box company who doesn't give a shit about customer service. read more

While they might not know me by name, they certainly have a way of making you feel welcome. It feels like Home Depot has gone through some customer service training as of late, because these associates are on their A-game. Greetings from all, stopping to lend a hand. It's almost too much. Almost. And then when it's all said and done you can use the self serve checkouts. There's something thrilling about scanning your own purchases. This is one of my favourite home depots because it's so urban, which also means its not as stacked with lumber, odds and ends, bbqs etc. But, it does have almost everything I could possibly need. Some of my past finds: a wood dowel, pails of many sizes, paint chips of the brightest yellows ever seen, plunger, Martha Stewart blackout curtains, an easy close toilet lid. Really, spanning the gamet here. My most recent discovery is the design centre on the lower level. I had no idea they had a whole appliance and kitchen centre just lurking along 7th. Retro avocado anyone? Note: Save On validates parking, but Home Depot does not :( read more

I came as a tag along with a friend. I can't remember the last time I stepped foot into a Home Depot, but wow--was their customer service excellent!! Everyone inside will greet you with a smile, everyone. They all ask if you need help with finding anything and they will also stand by after they find the item you are looking for in case you have questions. I was blown away with their honesty in their answers and non-pushy salesman like attitude. We also asked to see if they could offer us free boxes (I'm moving) but they couldn't since they destroy their boxes immediately after opening. They were apologetic, and quite sincere about it too. Renting Items like Carpet Cleaners and Hand Trucks from this place can be a grand pain in the ass. This Multinational Company and some most circular rental contacts polices I have ever encountered. What a mess. Kind and courteous staff but, ultimately, ineffective. Delivery staff rude and nasty. Appliance arrived broken (one of three that we ordered). After multiple trips to the store we were promised that we had been ´escalated' and that we would get results. What a crock! Everyone at the store passes the buck and has a story about how terrible the delivery service is but no one follows up, returns phone calls or bothers to reply to complaints. We finally received 2 of our items, used the stove and the glass shattered instantly!? Even if you have to pay a bit more or wait a little longer, take your business elsewhere, these guys don't deserve it! read more

My experience with Home Depot has been a nightmare. When I first spoke to an associate at the store he was very helpful. When I tried to call back i was unable to get through to the department so ended up walking over which is nearly an hour each way. We placed our order and the measurement was done smoothly and we got a 2 quotes, one for kitchen vinyl and one for stair carpet. I called back to the number on the quote, which was for Advance, to book a date a pay a deposit. I was led to believe when I was at the store that the material was in stock and I could expect installation within a couple of weeks. The representative at Advance said I had to pay 100% of the price upfront and the installation would be in 4-5 weeks. I don;'t want the carpet installed till the end of November and the vinyl immediately. I find it very unusual to pay 100 upfront before work has even started. He told =me to call Home Depot directly. I did so and he told me the 100% payment was store policy and that was that. Faced with no option I gave him my credit card # and asked to be given an install date. He said the quote was not in the system but that he would call Advance so he could process the payment and they would get back to me with a date for the install. Subsequently I get two emails from Home Depot saying I should have received the quote and if I wanted to proceed to call to pay! When I called there was not a record of my order or payment. The lady kept insisting they had a payment for $60.00 to do the measurement which they could set up and I would then get a quote. I asked to speak to a manager who explained it had to go to a different department etc. Today I get two Home Depot quotes and to call if I want to proceed. I have now been on hold for half an hour after my third call back. Could never recommend them read more

Delivery is a disaster - I ordered a washer and drier from Home Depot on Cambie. That was two weeks ago. They have contracted out to a third party company for delivery that: 1. Does not deliver in any other window that 9am to 4pm. 2. Does not deliver on Sunday. 3. Does not commit to any time. They will give you a 4 hour window but are not bound by it. 4. Your appliances are held hostage by the delivery company. I even tried to pay extra to get them to me. No luck. So, if you are like 90% of the city and can't take an entire day off to wait for a delivery, good luck. My first attempt at delivery (which I hired someone to be there for me) was a disaster because the delivery guy refused to remove a bi-fold door. The second delivery was schedule for first thing this morning (they committed to that) but later told me that it would get there when it got there. "We make no time guarantees." The store blames the contractor. The contractor blames the store. Nobody takes accountability. I have been without a washer or drier for 2 weeks. read more

"Thank God Douglas was working today!" This is what my boyfriend and I were saying while we were painting our apartment. We went into Home Depot today with a can of paint of a colour we hated! It was our fault, we picked a colour that belonged in a little girl's bedroom ... not our living room!! Douglas in the paint department was so happy to help us modify our colour to help save us a $50 can of paint. He made 3 attempts to fix the colour and we absolutely love what is on our walls now. Thank you Douglas! We really appreciated your great customer service. Everyone else in the store was super helpful as well. I will sure be back here...probably tomorrow! read more
