While the event could've been very unpleasant due to one employee I spoke to beforehand as I have a broken back and I called over an hour ahead and it wasn't ready as promised at pick/Returns the young man Leo at the pick/up return register was outstanding to say the least. Leo went above and beyond any Home Depot Employee I've ever dealt with. But such a young man, I can't say enough about his manners, professionalism, and just straightforward, pleasant personality. Young men like him are exactly what you need and all of the facilities. It is very rare to find anyone to go out of their way for you these days and that doesn't even begin to describe what this young man did to see that I was taken care of. Do not buy appliances from Home Depot, or any other big box store, and do not buy the warranty either as they do not honor the warranties and make excuses and give the run around. Basically they pay people to give you the run around instead of putting that money into fixing the customers problems. I am very disappointed as I've spent the last month getting the run around from Home Depot and Samsung. Today the Appliance technician left after stating that Samsung said they will not cover the damage. So basically i have a damaged Stove and they got my money and thats thats. I went here for a vanity for the bathroom. I saw it online and I went to the Home Depot near me but they didn't have it. The website said that they had one available in Johnston. When I got there it was the display and of course I didn't want that and they wouldn't sell it anyway. A woman name Patty helped me. She was extremely helpful in finding the vanity that I wanted at another location about a half hour away. I also asked her about a granite vanity top with sink. I had purchased one in the past from Home Depot. She found them online for me and showed me how to find it myself. She was extremely helpful and very very pleasant. read more

I love this Home Depot. I bought a house and I have remodeled it by myself so I had to learn everything myself. I have gone in there with questions countless times and they have helped me out with everything. I used to go to lowes a lot at first but then I started going to Home Depot because of the staff and how clean it always is. I also feel like this HD is less chaotic... maybe I shouldn't be rating it 5 stars so that people don't take it over haha The one thing that I hate about Home Depot is that they don't let veterans use their discount online. Friendly and knowledgeable staff Convenient location The right size and selection I'm a big fan of outings to Home Depot, and this is my favorite of their local stores. They have a sensible, right-sized layout to navigate. Prices are what you'd expect, frequently with a handful of good "grab it" buys on certain items that are utilitarian and good to keep some spares on hand of (I use their orange HD buckets a lot); work gloves are another thing that get some good dump-bin specials. The garden area here is solid, and usually my pick for a faster check-out than the regular register area. Essentially, this is a store that will meet the local needs with relatively quick in & out capability and fair prices. As a bonus, my kids and I like driving up the hill toward it - they feel like we're storming a castle. So it has that going for it, too. Solid store. read more

I Honestly Love Home Depot. As a woman who loves home decor, I just seriously get so intrigued going there. I start out by going for a lightbulb and then I walk around and get so inspired!! Today I ended up with a new kitchen faucet, and a gallon of beautiful paint (because that's when I decided my bedroom needed a new color!) Service is helpful and informative. Customer service sucks w the company as a whole. I purchased over 20 bags of bulbs tubers or roots from the garden center. Imagine my shock when I'm in my ratty clothes holes dug open the bags to find I'm missing 3 from the pack 2 from this pack the next bag has nothing but dirt and so on. Instead of the store taking responsibility for its products when I reached out their first response was simply thank you for letting us know - no offer to provide the items I paid for but didn't get Then I went to two stores with the bags trying to explain what happened and get my bulbs but both times the employee gave me dirty looks and wouldn't get a manager. I never seen anything like this. Even when I called coporate they obviously sub out the customer service to another country I don't have an issue with that but I do believe that people that are hired should at least speak enough of the language to be able to be effective at the job this man didn't have the language skills and just kept repeating the same thing over and over and when I asked for a manager he said he couldn't put them on it was against procedure. I finally got another staff was told to go into store ask for an exchange ok so I call this store ask if they have bulbs in stock they say they do. Once I arrive I'm looking around and I don't see any bulbs I go to the customer service that he explained why I'm there that I had called but I can't find any bulbs sure enough she goes looking around there's no bulbs. I ask her to check other stores The least they could do after making me come there and waste my gas in time but she refuses. I then ask if I can just get the amount on a gift card and I'll find the bulbs myself she says yes but then proceeded to dock half off the total amount saying without a receipt store credit is half. At this point I felt like I was on some kind of practical joke game show or something after all the ways Home Depot messed up and inconvenienced me wasting my gas my time they were like hey we know we've already wasted hours of your time your gas didn't give you what you paid for but for the cherry on top of our non existent customer service is to fine you for our mistake. Our employees incorrectly packaged the bulbs they told you products were here that aren't and now we are going to charge you for our mistake. I remember a day were companies would volunteer to make it right you didn't have go chasing after them to just get what you already paid for. I asked for the manager there was refused again I guess that's how they don't have to deal with people they take advantage of. If I tried walking out with an extra bulb the police would be called but they can take my $ not provide the product and no consequence for them. Trying to rent a stump grinder and they wouldn't let me reserve it. I was there at 11. It was there. Came back at three to pickup and somebody rented it for a week . you can't reserve big equipment which is BS. How am I supposed to rent equipment to do a job when I can't reserve it so I lost money and my customer was upset. My patience with the store has run very thin. Some employees here are extremely helpful so 5 stars to them however others (particularly cashiers) are so focused on customers filling out the survey on the receipt that they forget what customer service actually is. Focus on that and I bet you'll get better survey results! We had a great experience here yesterday. Came in looking for a propane smoker, potting soil, some paint for our bathroom and a Swiffer Bissell Steamboost. The smoker we wanted was in a box on the floor that was town to shreds, we asked one of the floor employees if there were any others as this was going to be a gift and we wanted to look somewhat presentable. He found us another, then noticed our list and helped us the entire time locate all the rest of our items even though we didn't ask. The cashier was hilarious and spent most of our transaction just telling us various stories, and even though she asked (had to) if we wanted to open up a store credit car (a question I dread) it took only one no and she didn't ask us again. This location is the WORST. Last time I went there, an employee on the floor would not stop hitting on me and making me extremely uncomfortable. I told him I didn't need help, and he proceeded to ask me the stupidest questions like what my favorite color is. A customer came up and asked for help and the employee had the nerve to put his hand up and say "just a minute" as if he was doing anything important other than annoying me. I interrupted and let the other customer know that I was all set and the employee was free to assist him. I just left my second terrible visit. Looking for carpet padding to replace a few strips in my basement. There was no one in the department. A couple who was there before me looking at flooring were at the top of the aisle yelling "Hello can someone help us?" multiple times with no response. This is a Tuesday night mind you, not a peak weekend day or something when employees are understandably busy. I had seen 15-20 workers on the floor simply stocking shelves, etc. - no one responded. I finally got one workers attention - he couldn't assist me with carpeting and said he'd go find the girl that works in that department - she never came. I went to the front and had them to page for assistance - again, no response. I finally had to ask the front desk for a manager and after 30 minutes total being in the store, was told the padding couldn't be cut to the size I needed. The rug department is not self service - have a fucking employee stationed there. 30 minutes is unreasonable to not respond to a page either. People can easily go to Lowe's instead. read more

The only place I see employees are in the front end and while they might ask you if you need help finding something they don't take you to the product they will just tell you a general aisle to look in. Complaint regarding an appliance delivery... This is a somewhat shortened version of a very, very long ongoing situation with an appliance delivery.  I ordered an LG appliance suite of 4 appliances from The Home Depot in Johnston, RI on May 30, 2021.  The delivery date was scheduled for Saturday, July 17, 2021, because one of the appliances was on backorder.  On Friday, July 16, 2021 I received a phone call with a 4-hour delivery window for Saturday.  Saturday morning,I started tracking my delivery on your delivery tracking app.  Everything looked like it was on schedule and I was able to track the delivery until the app stated, "there are 2 deliveries ahead of you." At this point it was 11:15am and I received a phone call from the driver stating that they would be at my home in approximately 45 minutes.  So, I waited and waited. It got to be about 2pm and still no sign of the driver at my home.  I called the 800 number on the delivery paperwork I had received on the day I placed the order.  They informed me that the driver realized that the appliances were not on the truck and decided to just skip my house and continue with his other deliveries.  This in and of itself is totally unacceptable.  But what ensued after that is the most blatant display of lies, misleading information and incompetence I have ever witnessed. After countless hours on the phone, they said they could deliver the appliances on Wednesday, July 21, 2021.  Again, on Tuesday I received a call with my delivery window for Wednesday. On Wednesday, I began tracking the delivery.  Around 2:30 pm in the afternoon the driver called and informed me that he was about 30 minutes from my house, but he only had 3 of my 4 appliances on the truck. I asked him which appliance was missing and told me it was the range.  I asked him why he did not have the range and he said, "we couldn't find it in the warehouse."  The driver came and delivered the refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave.  Once again, I had to reach out to The Home Depot delivery line to find out the whereabouts of my range.  They said they needed to do a "dock check" that could take up to 72 hours.  Several days and numerous phone calls later I was able to find out that they found the range, but it was heavily damaged.  They said the bottom was caved in.  At this point they said they needed to order a new one and would let me know when they could redeliver it.  At first, they tentatively put in the delivery for 07/30 and then 08/02, but the range had not arrived.  I again had to make several phone calls and finally they said the range was located and would be delivered on Saturday, August 7, 2021.  Here we go again... I received the 4-hour window phone call on Friday.  Saturday morning I began tracking the delivery.  When the app showed that the driver was 2 stops away from my house, I called to make sure they were coming.  The woman I spoke with assured me that the range was on the truck and they would call me when they were close to my home.  Then the app stopped tracking my delivery and I never received a call from the driver.   I once again reached out to your 800 number and they had NO answer for me.  I was transferred to a supervisor in Georgia whose name is Janelle.  She assured me that someone would be contacting me with information regarding the missing range and the lack of delivery and communication.  Well, per usual, I have still not received any information.  This is the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced.  I have now taken 3 days out of work and have been on the phone with multiple people for about 20 hours total and I still DO NOT have a range. The level of incompetence is truly astonishing to me. I am expecting someone to contact me within 24 hours with a resolution. Again, this is a shortened version of everything that has ensued and I still DO NOT have a range!!! read more

This review is written with great difficulty as Home Depot in Johnston is not a store in which one can get much customer support. I was in search for some tile for a bathroom and looked at the displays for about fifteen minutes without any individual approaching me to ask if I needed help and I did. I finally went to another department to seek assistance and the young man returned indicating that someone would be with me in a couple of minutes. That couple of minutes became at least twenty minutes and I was literally talking to myself as I continued to seek some service. Fortunately for me and for the reputation of Home Depot in Johnston, a very kind flooring specialist approached me, asking what I needed help with at Home Depot. Marie Pislowski, a flooring specialist, was patient, kind, knowledgeable, and therefore extremely helpful as we moved through the tile department examining and discussing each tile that was of some interest to me. Without her assistance, my visit to Home Depot in Johnston would have been fruitless. Home Depot is fortunate to have this person as their employee and I was fortunate that she was available and caring enough to assist. Customer support is HORRIBLE. I went there to get bags of pallets for my fireplace and if anyone know what I'm talking about they know it's Heavy ! And I'm 5'2 110pds trying to look for the bags of pallets and loading 6 bags into a cart. While co workers stared at me and others pretended to look away. And not only that, I asked them once I checked out if they could help me unload it in my car and they said no we can't and I had a shock look so they said we could probably find someone might take 10-15min ... as a 4 men that work there are right behind me standing doing nothing. Anyways ! Today my mom went to get pallets and she asked where they were located since I wasn't there to tell her the man says it's outside in the back... and she asked if someone could help her and they said no they couldn't because a certain person wasn't there... so she walked to back to get 6 bags of pallets but they were packaged up and no employee to help and get this thing remove. She had to use her bare hands to Rip this hard plastic mind you it's 26 degrees out ! Yes 26! She managed to get that done and walk back inside and pay and unload it in her car. People there are useless and lazy. I understand if home depot was full of customers and employee were taking care of them. But nope both occasions and another horrible experience! read more

I definitely agree with Harold! I call this store: My Home Depot. Obviously, Home Depot is a massive chain, but this store feels like a tiny Mom and Pop place. The employees are just amazing. They truly care about the store and the customers. They have helped us completely renovate and restore our old Providence home. I've spent hours and hours designing a kitchen with Tom, who was nothing short of a saint. We returned several times to tweak our design (which he encouraged- he really wanted us to get the kitchen we envisioned). The paint shop employees have help us choose the colors in our home. Lumber cuts whatever we need. Lighting shows us the best deals. So, so wonderful. read more

Unfortunately there aren't very many good things I can say about this location, aside from the fact that they are really close to my house which is convenient. Our latest project is redoing our deck. I have not purchased large quantities of wood here before and I'm glad I've never attempted to. We needed 8' and 12' deck boards, a couple 2 x 4's and spindles. I sorted through the rack of boards for about an hour desperately trying to find decent pieces. 90% of the boards there were not suitable for anything more than kindling (which you should not do with pressure treated wood folks, FYI). Even one of the associates who we tried to talk to passing by (not even from the Lumber department) told us we shouldn't buy wood from Home Depot because it's so bad when we expressed our frustrations. My contractor that I use for bigger projects even asked why the hell I was buying from Home Depot. The associate that was helping us - who was the only one we were finally able to flag down after 20 minutes with 2 other customers searching for someone with us - was awesome and dug through all of the pallets of wood for acceptable pieces. He wasn't even the lumber associate. They only had 3 -12' pieces so we ended up getting the spindles and the 8' pieces before giving up. No one could tell us when the 12' would be in stock so I asked about other stores and the response from the nasty customer service associate was "well what do you want me to do?" Usually asking about another store would prompt someone to look in the system or call and ask, no? When I asked her if she could call Smithfield I got another dose of attitude before she picked up the phone. My three biggest issues with this store would have to be - 1. Rude associates - there is no reason for an attitude when I am being really nice and asking for help. If I ask a question do not huff and puff before answering in a sarcastic and degrading manner. 2. No one has a clue - there was not one person in that store that could answer any of my questions and make recommendations. Do not come here expecting to be able to ask for help. The associates are either old cranky retirees or young kids who don't care - very very few know the first thing about home improvements. 3. Product Quality - very specifically regarding the lumber, the quality of their products are absolutely atrocious. The wood I saw on just about every rack was warped, rotted, and splintering, some even had giant chunks taken out of it. I get there are a few bad ones in a bunch but the racks were filled and just broken open. We nearly had first picks and still struggled to find decent pieces. If you are looking for a place that has good quality I suggest going to a real lumber yard (we ended up going to National Lumber in Warwick), if you need answers and recommendations go to a local business because they are usually really knowledgeable and experienced - probably the reason they can stay in business against places like Lowes and Home Depot. I could go on and on about all of my other horror stories but I'll leave it here. read more

All I can say is I am glad I rent or this is where all my money would be going. I love HD. I can also say that I think they have made great strides from a customer service perspective. They still don't have a lot of old retired contractors that know everything about everything, but they do have folks that know stuff and can direct you in the right direction.
