Workers are incompetent and so are the managers. Gave me a broken and filthy machine for rent that was not pumping water. Cashier simply tells me she doesn't not know the cost of renting- couldn't be bothered to figure it out. I come back to return the machine and met with managers who don't bother watching the videos or offering support for the waste of my time due to their negligence of allowing a broken machine for rent and instead fixating on why I didn't call to report the issue asap - though I came 4 hours later. Meanwhile they keep you on hold for hours- as if they would've assisted that way. I wish I got all of their names- never going here again and neither should you. read more

I love how fast it is to check out at this location but whoever was working in the paint department on 9/29 at around 1:15pm, older lady, was absolutely rude when she approached me. There's no need to chastise your customers unless they're doing something wrong to which I was not, I was only trying to pick out the paint can I wanted. She didn't need to come off with that haughty attitude. Didn't ask if I need help or anything. Besides that single unsavory experience, the parking here is also a bit rough despite having a lot. It's always packed but on the bright side I think there are a lot of employees and this store runs smoother than the Gateway location. I recommend. I prefer this place over gateway. They're smaller for sure but it runs a little smoother and if you need to pop in to buy something quick it's always an easy experience. read more

Came here on 1/7 after the Cropsey location to get copies of keys (because Cropsey key machines were Out of Order). Keys are $2.39 each and it's not the key kiosk machine. We has to ask a staff to get someone to make the key copies for us. Very nicely done (better than Lowe's). A few weeks ago, I went with a friend to get her new apartment key copied at Lowe's and they stuck the key in the machine halfway so all the keys were copied & useless. When it comes to DIY garden shopping, this is my place to go. They have lots of DIY products you can think of for fixing up your home. One of my favorite is their flowers/plants sale. They do have nice variety of flowers and vegetable plants. This time I didn't see much fruit plants except for strawberry. This place is always crowded with people, especially the weekend so I usually like to go during the weekdays. They do have a parking lot but it is a shared lot with other local shops. read more

I was looking for some Allen Keys & checked the Mill Basin website which showed the ones I was looking for as available and in stock. When I got there, they weren't in stock so had to spend more than I wanted. So I ended up with a whole set instead of the one I needed for a one-off job. Went to self checkout - 4 people lined up as only one of 4 terminals in operation. Staff member there to "assist" had an attitude. Thank God that I just purchased a sample size because the color basically looked pure white which was totally off from the color that I showed him. I am very surprised at the low ratings of this location. I don't frequent Home Depot so this is a new experience for me. I came here specifically for home renovation supplies. I like how Home Depot opens super early so I have time to grab what I need for the job. I got here around 7am and there were also early birds like myself shopping. The gentleman at the flooring aisles were super helpful. I wish I got his name. He was kind enough to grab me a cart too. As I see so many of the companies I grew up with; closing their doors...I'm reminded why when I attempt to patronize businesses like Home Depot. The complete disregard for customer service and overall consultation which made them strong in past, no longer exist. I needed help with a lumber project (because I'm clueless in that area) I stood in the Lumber area for 10 minutes looking and waiting for an associate. The only people there were 3 women and a gentleman. Finally I walked to the front to ask them to page an associate. I waited for another 10 minutes and then walked to the front again. The young lady walked me back and told me the gentleman with the 3 ladies was the associate but he wasn't wearing his apron (how the hell would I know he was an associate?) Then after he finishes with the ladies, he literally walks past me after seeing that I've been waiting for him. W ask him if he's available to help me and he says abruptly "what do you need!" Once I explain my project he says "I don't know anything about that" and follows with " I'll cut the wood you need cut but I can't give any suggestions in that area." I then go choose to heavy sheets and carry them to him and says "the machine will year that up." Then why didn't you come show me the minimum it could handle. Another customer interrupts and ask a question and he proceeds to help her while we were still talking. I just walk out angered and disappointed in Home Depot. The worst Home Depot ever! Service was horrible. The only one that tried to be helpful was Latisha. We have a tax exempt form, but Latisha told us we have to register and if we just go to customer service, they will help us 1, 2, 3 and ring us up there too. We got to customer service and they were not helpful. He called the guy that could help us but the guy said either he was busy or something and so the guy said "he will help you when he can". Excuse me?!? When HE CAN?!? We have been waiting! So at the end, we filled up the registration ourselves! And afterwards, instead of ringing us up, they sent us to another register. I said, "no! Latisha said you guys can ring us up!" And their excuse was "this is a return." But I saw the guy rung a lady there because the lady said, the lines are long! Then they continued to said "go to register one, it's open". Guess what, by the time we got there, she said no to us because she is closed. Seriously!?!?? Nobody is helpful here at all!!!!! Service here is excellent. There is always someone to help you. The lines are rarely long and plus the their is a self checkout. During warm weather the flowers they sell are BEAUTIFUL! They provide a one year warranty on flowers!! but make sure you have the receipt. They replaced a plant that had died on me due to my lack of care. In the past week I've been in The Home Depot about 4 times redoing my kitchen sink counters. The first time I came in and the man that was in the kitchen and sink area that night wasn't very help. He was aloof and irritated. I came in again and no one was around to even ask of we needed help...guess The Home Depot doesn't check on customers while they shop. Not wanting to go to any retail outline, I ordered two gallons of basic on the shelf paint. It was scheduled to arrive at my house in 4 days (March 22). Great ! well a week later I checked my delivery status and found that it wasn't shipped. I called HD customer service to complain. I was told that the paint company "Behr" was behind in shipping. Okay, I can wait, after all where could I go, anyway? A week later no paint. After another two hour wait on "HOLD" the service person said "that she was sorry" and reduced my bill by 20%. Yey no paint. Today, frustrated to having to wait two weeks, I recalled HD and after a short 1/2 hour wait on my phone a service person told me that I could pick up my order at my local HD. I was directed to speak to the paint manager who was holding the two cans for me. When I got there the "paint Manager" directed me to customer service. There I was told to pay for it.But, I did pay for it online. They wanted me to pay for it onsite and apply for a refund online.They refused to give me my paint. I asked for the store manager, but conveniently he was out of the store. Because I could not cancel the order online, and can't get my paint without paying for the same item twice, I guess I have to wait!!!!! BUYER BEWARE! read more

After 10 mins. "shelly" finally showed up with a salty face. After barking at the little old lady and giving a gallon of paint to another customer she finally decides to inquire about me. After I gave her the color selection she asked me that it was eggshell. I asked her what that was and she replied after point to the display and said "you figure it out" I mean seriously? The five star rating doesn't mean The Home Depot in Mill Basin is flawless... it has its faults and shortcomings... but when compared to its next door neighbor, the poorly run Lowes at Kings Plaza ... it is a no brainer which one to patronize! Home Depot has: Express Self -serve check-outs ALWAYS OPEN (looks like Lowes has given up on their self check outs) Quicker customer service Ability to do an even exchange... While this is a small Home Depot, you can surprisingly find most common items 99% of the time here... without the hassle that you get at Lowes... So if you like to wait on endless lines, go to Lowes...but for faster service, Home Depot is the only option. read more

Not a single person around to help you and when you find someone to ask, they look at you as if you just asked for a kidney. They're also not very educated on the products. The two times I had GREAT service were from Ms. Chloe in paint and Bela in Woodwork. My suggestion would be to let these two manage the store and get rid of the lazy, dead, teenage weight there. My boyfriend is a general contractor and unfortunately has found himself in this crap Home Depot on many occasions over the past 10 years. We read through some previous reviews and had a good laugh at how true they are. "Worst Home Depot ever, EVERYTHING IN THE STORE IS DAMAGED, completely disorganized, employees act like it is their social club, know nothing about the products and are annoyed by having to work (speak to people)...." Here is one of his stories: He went up to the counter with a 1-5/8" metal track. Apparently there was no tag on it. The cashier looked him in the eye and said, "You can't have that. We don't sell that here." My bf told her what is was and asked her nicely to look it up in the computer (which every other home depot will do with no problem) to get the price. She said "no" and asked the next customer to step up. They argued back and forth for a few minutes and she continued to refuse to look it up. Then she told him "I feel sorry for you. This is the way you treat people." Finally the parking lot cart attendant, who was not in the parking lot attending to the carts (which are 50 yards from the entrance) was sent to go get one with a label. Lowes is only about 10% more expensive for better customer service and products that are not - BROKEN. Home Depot in Elmont, NY is truly the best one. read more

This Home Depot is close to home. I came here to buy paint. Didn't think that there would be a line at the paint counter at 9am on a Monday, but there was. When it was finally my turn, I showed the associate the color on my phone (The Home Depot: Project Color app) & immediately tried to dismiss me & tell me that this isn't her department, she's just filling in & I need to get the color from the wall. (The color wasn't on the wall by the way.) Why? The color & code is right here on the phone! When she finally figured that out, she started mixing my color. I'm just glad I did my research before going to the store otherwise I would've been out of luck. Then, of course, my brother knowing that I was at Home Depot decides to give me a list of things to buy. I, of course, not knowing where anything is at Home Depot was frustrated but I was able to find an associate to help me unlike the Home Depot on Hamilton Avenue. Definitely not the best Home Depot to shop at, but still worth visiting. Layout is very strange, you walk in and have to make a hard left to get to the good stuff, their appliance section is not very big and their second floor showroom bounces more than the Brooklyn Bridge. Other than that, you still get great service here and specifically, the kitchen department! Christopher helped us design a great kitchen cabinet layout and did everything possible to save us some money. He was patient, friendly and had excellent knowledge of cabinetry, giving us tips and overall guidance throughout the process. Good place to shop despite the undesirable layout and intense competition just next door. They promise to match competitors prices and so far they have for us. read more
