I was fortunate to "be chosen" by Chris from among the many staff members in the department on my first visit. I had little plumbing knowledge, therefore I required assistance choosing a sink faucet. He asked how my day was doing and that he would be more than pleased to answer any questions I had as he took me to the kitchen faucet section. Throughout my stay with him, he provided me with exceptional service in terms of item selection and pros and cons. Chris, in my opinion, provided exceptional customer service by taking the time to comprehend my problems and treating me as a person in need of guidance and support rather than just as a "paying customer." I was immediately put at ease by Chris's kind demeanor and his ability to clearly explain the advantages and disadvantages. I can't say enough good things about Chris. I am very disappointed in my recent experience at the Bristol, CT Home Depot. A number of years back, I purchased a pendant lamp for my kitchen. It was the kind that hangs on the cord. It had a lovely green glass globe. I put three of them together to make a rather attractive lighthing fixture. I want to do the same thing in another part of my kitchen. Unfortunately, the globe has been discontinued. However, the Bristol store had one on display, but, of course, none in stock. If one more store has a display unit, I will have all three. So, off to Bristol I went. I found a sales person and asked about buying the display unit. He knows it was discontinued, but told me that he "can't sell it to me." I asked what will become of it and he told me that when a new shipment comes in, they will ship that discontinued display unit back to its source. It is truly unfortunate that Home Depot is more concerned with process than its customers. Over the past 20 years, I have literally spent tens of thousands of dollars at Home Depot, but that counts for nothing. If they don't want to be inconvenienced to sell a display unit, and instead choose not to make a profit on a sale, it is clear that their interest in their customers as people with real needs does not exist. I am persistent, so I will take this up with the district manager, who will probably decide that it is easier to take my money than to find out how far up the Home Depot complaint chain I am willing to take this. (Hint: I am persistent...) But in the meantime, I just wasted an hour and a half of my time and a 15 mile round trip only to be told that Home Depot does not want to take my money to buy a product that they actually have right there in the store. read more

Located on Route 6 in Bristol on its own land plot with plenty of parking, Bristol's The Home Depot is in a prime location. The store is full-sized and has the tan and orange color scheme you think of when you think of The Home Depot. Outside, there's a LOT of parking- more than they'd ever possibly need or use. There's a good 12+ spaces blocked off for a shed buying zone, and the entire side of the building's parking spots are covered in Lawn & Garden backstock, yet there is still twice the parking they'd possibly need. So, don't worry if you have to tow a trailer with you, or you're driving your RV. There IS somewhere for you to park your oversized vehicle. I really like their lawn and garden center. It's full sized- offering a half-outside/half-outside department, with plants, gardening supplies and lawn tools/equipment, and then stuff to put on the patio like grills, patio sets, fire pits & more. Then, in the main part of the store is pretty much all of home Depot besides lumber. This location is well staffed with helpful employees. While it may seem easy to get lost in a store with 20 foot high shelves, the helpful employees help you navigate the aisles easily enough. This location of The Home Depot seems to have it all, so it is a total bummer when I can't find what I need- like while there are soldering irons- I've had less luck finding flux or desoldering wick. I'd expect there to be at least one option for every product needed for a hobby/project. At the other end of the store is lumber and tool rental. This location has a great tool rental program, and the staff running it are friendly and knowledgeable. The lumber department can seem intimidating, but again, there are employees willing to help out. This location also offers classes for kids, which is so cool and necessary. One of the reasons I'm into DIY projects today is from doing projects as a kid at The Home Depot. Overall, if you're looking for an ideal experience at The Home Depot, this Bristol location is well worth the visit. read more

Hands down the worst customer service I've ever dealt with. Spent almost 3000 dollars on appliances and stayed home from work waiting for installation. First I was told they were running late, then I was told that they could not reach the installers. Then it was we will call you tomorrow. Missed 2 days of work, they never called , they never came to install. Was told the next appointment was another week wait after already staying home 2 days waiting. Offer no apologies, no discount, was told several times that they would call me back. That never happened. Will never spend my money here again. read more

Wish I could give less than one star! I ordered and paid for a brand new appliances (fridge, stove, dishwasher and over the range microwave) and we scheduled delivery for last Saturday! How exciting right? I confirmed said delivery the day before, and patiently waited during my 4 hour window. Nothing. Ok, I cal, go through the automated system at 7pm to be told my appliances were on the way! Yah!! Needless to say, at 10pm, I went to bed disappointed with no appliances and no phone call. The next morning I called and a nice gentleman explained that the trucking company is closed on Sunday but he promised to call me Monday morning to reschedule the delivery. Great! Monday came, as promised he called and scheduled for today. It was perfect because my hardwood floors are being refinished on the following Monday, so it worked out or so I thought. Last night I got the call for today's delivery window - perfect! 30 minutes before the end of the delivery window, still no appliances so I called Home Depot who said my appliances were on a truck and that I should have them any time but to call back if they didn't arrive. An hour after my delivery window, I called (7pm) back but a new manager was on duty named Matt and he asked me what it was I wanted him to do because the trucking company was closed and wouldn't reopen until Monday. I explained that my hardwood floors were being refinished on Monday and that I needed appliances before so they don't damage the fresh floors. He more or less said too bad. Absolutely horrible service and zero idea how to solve a problem. Didn't offer to find the appliances for me at any other stores, literally zero help. Even my refund was painful. That's my last shopping trip to Home Depot ever. I just got home from Lowe's in Plainville with better appliances for only $100 more and guess what? I already have them! read more

If you just need parts and building supplies, they should have what you're looking for. If I had trouble finding something, I'd just flag down one of the employees and they'd help me find it. My only gripe... If you're looking to contract with them to remodel your house, FORGET THEM! I sat down with one of their managers who said he would send someone out to give me an estimate. Not only didn't they call me to make the initial appointment when they promised, they never returned any of my follow-up calls. Of the several contractors I attempted to obtain estimates from... I hate this Home Depot. Employees are next to useless when trying to get some service. At least the ones I've had the pleasure of dealing with. This last trip was the biggest annoyance. I found my items and went through the self check out. Selected Credit as payment method and it asks for a PIN. What? So I hit cancel because that's typically what you do and then the card is declined. I flag down a cashier who waddles herself over and asks what's the problem. I said the machine won't accept the card. What's wrong with it? She replies: "You tell me." Excuse me? Card is perfectly fine. Called my bank and yep card is fine. Plenty of money. Poor excuse for customer service. You all have some training to do if this is the model employee. She could care less about the transaction. read more

I should have known better!! I ordered a new dishwasher on August 6 and get a delivery date of August 14. I got my delivery confirmation call the day before and took a day off of work to be home for delivery. At the delivery time I got a call from a rude woman at the delivery company to say "your item isn't on the truck. You need to reschedule." We rescheduled for August 22. The same exact thing happened on August 22. Home Depot was quick to blame it on the delivery company and that they are spending $4Billion on their delivery process over the next 5 years, but that does not help me. I escalated the issue.... they told me "the dishwasher that the vendor had tagged for you was actually previously sold during the big July 4 sale." The item was not actually available and I should not have been able to order it. She would call me in 2 to 3 days with an update. I never got an update. Here's the crazy part..... I canceled my order with Home Depot and they REFUSED to give me back my money. I was told they had to get approval from the vendor (you know, the one that has been unresponsive and giving me the runaround.) and the vendor had to approve the cancelation before I could get a refund. It took 3 weeks to get my money refunded. By then I had to submit a claim to my credit card company to dispute the payment. Needless to say, I picked up the exact some model that was in stock at a competitor and installed it the same day. read more

Use caution if buying paint - on two separate occasions I purchased paint and had the employee that was helping me texting, gossiping or otherwise distracted and did not hammer down the top sufficiently leading to significant paint spillage in my car. When I called the store, the manager said he would need to call me back and never did! Extremely poor customer service - will never shop here again. read more

I went to the store to look for a safe. They did not have the one that I was looking for in stock. So the rep ordered one for me from the online store with free delivery to my house. Once the safe arrived I was not able to get it opened do to a defect. When I went back to Home Depot they told me that they could not have one exchanged until I brought the safe back. (This things weight 327 pounds). I asked the associate how that was possible. I would need help to transport that back. The associate basically told me too bad. When I called the online store they said that I did not have to bring it back my self. They had a company that would come pick it up. Looks like this Home Depot needs to retrain its EE's on these types of situations as well as some manners. The lady at the store could not care less. read more

This Home Depot has a very helpful staff. Returns always go smoothly without giving you a hassle about what you're bringing back. Customer service staff is very helpful. And if you can find an employee in the isles ( they can be scarce) they will answer your question or find someone who can. read more

Great store for all my DIY needs with super helpful staff. I used to fear going to Home Depot since I have very little knowledge of hardware or what I need for the projects I'm working on. I've found that this store has so much more than I realized from cleaning supplies to lamps to lawn furniture. The staff will often walk me directly to the item I am looking for so I'm not wondering aimlessly through aisles of nails. It does take forever if you want paint mixed, they should staff 2 people at that counter at least. One day I stopped off at a competing store and could not find anyone to help me, so I stick to this location always they go above and beyond- even helping to load items in my car if needed. read more

Buyer beware . The paint color on the online app where you can view how it will look in a room is not very accurate. We bought a dusky rose mauve color, and when it ended up looking like bright lilac purple, the only thing they were able to do for us was add some color to darken and tone it down. It is way darker than what I wanted, but less bright. Meh, not a fan of customer service's handling of the situation. read more

When finishing our basement with a kitchen and 3/4 bath last summer (2010), we turned to Home Depot in Bristol and left as pleased customers. We appreciated the help in selecting the floor, ceiling, fixtures, lights, appliances, doors, etc. Everything came in on time and worked out beautifully. ***The Inventory of the homedepot is sooooooo screwed up I always have to travel to the other ones because the product next to the one out of stock was filled in by the neighboring product.. They do this so that the store looks full during facing. ***The Shopping Carts lining the entry roadway are such an inconvenience and hazard, and I have clipped one already. Its supper tight and makes it difficult to pull into the parking lot with a regular truck..... We love doing home projects and my husband is a contractor so we are always here. Some of the workers are so nice and knowledgable. We've been going there for years so we've gotten to know some of them and they are great! I do not appreciate or like one of their workers Robin (Robyn?) that woman is incredibly disrespectful!!! She blatantly flirts with my husband in front of me. Normally something like that wouldn't bother me one bit but she crosses the line. At first it was funny and we laughed at her every time we would see her but then she started getting gross and one time nearly got off (yes I'm serious...clearly she needs a man or something at home haha) telling him how manly he is and how he does everything with such authority. She's a creep and maybe she thinks she's a cougar but she needs to wake up. I haven't seen her in awhile so maybe the broad got fired.
