There seem to be a group of shopping carts performing a summoning ritual

We were driving home from elsewhere in Connecticut, and needed to go pick up some screws and other bits of hardware. This place was right off the highway, so we stopped and checked it out. The parking lot could be in better shape, but the store itself is perfectly acceptable. We had no problems finding the appropriate aisle and getting what we needed, and the checkout process was pretty standard. It's pretty comparable to an experience you'd have at any other Home Depot.

The Home Depot, I never find a parking space close to the entrance, but "Hey! What Ever?!" I love coming to THD, walking through the isles looking for what I need, what I want, what I wish for, and what else they got! This place makes me want to be a "Do It Yourself-er," In-door and Out-door.

Employee of the week! (not) Making personal calls during work hours, very disappointed with this location.

They have a great selection of annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, decorative pots and more. There are many unique plants that I've never seen elsewhere. Most recently, I was searching for succulents, and they had a vast array, with lots of beautiful arrangements to provide inspiration. While Oliver's is a geared toward high-end gardeners, I find their prices to be about the same -- sometimes better -- than those of other garden centers in Connecticut. The knowledgeable staff are friendly and helpful. Oliver's is also community-minded. In my neighborhood, we are working to transform a vacant, overgrown, ugly lot into a nature preserve and bird sanctuary. Oliver's has been a true partner in this endeavor, providing native tress and shrubs that are well-adapted to the particulars of the space and lots of good advice about care, placement, etc.

Some years later a boy I liked sent me flowers, not roses, flowers. I was thrilled to receive a beautiful arrangement that was delivered by an actual florist delivery guy. That arrangement was placed on a console table and sat there for a whole 10 minutes. Then I placed it outdoors for nature to enjoy because darn it, that arrangement included Stargazer lilies, the scent of funerals. The fragrance of that lily cultivar sends me to places in the Upside Down, always has, always will. That putrid smell is the single ridiculous reason why I cannot attend funerals. I'm certain the Upside Down smells of Stargazer lilies. You know what doesn't smell like Stargazer lilies? Tulips. Sweet glorious spring tulips. Pink, peach, white, purple, red...a rainbow of colors depicting the beautiful Right-side Up and the dawn of a new year. Auging holes for bulb planting can be tedious work, but because I like to pack tulips into bunches, I can place about 4-5 bulbs into one hole, making the work much faster. Colorblends has THE most beautiful bulbs (they'll even pre-chill them for you!) Opening the boxes and seeing those mesh bags filled with large, firm bulbs is almost as breathtaking as the spring blooms themselves. My growing zone 10 means I can plant them well into December, but I like to get my bulbs in the ground by November's end so all I have to do is watch and wait (and add a little water now and then) for the spring show. Can't wait for the 2022 Colorblends catalog to arrive. But first I'll enjoy my spring tulips show with a nod to all things beautiful in the Right-side Up.

I would highly recommend this family owned business to anyone who would like to get their…read morelandscaping project done correctly the first time. We hired James and his dad's company after a terrible experience with our first landscaper to redo our grass areas. I personally did all the flower garden designs and mulch myself so that I can save money and also because I enjoy doing garden landscaping. We renovated our entire 1/2 acre lawn plus our enormous sidewalk, which was full of trees and wood chips and rocks. James and his dad only use high quality seed and soil and kept their word. They promised me an amazing lawn if I followed their maintenance advice which was to use Teed & Brown, another amazing landscaping maintenance company. My renovation project was completed in about 2-3 days in October of 2020 and I waited 9 months to write this review so that the grass could come in 100% and it did. Today my yard looks like it should be on the front cover of a landscaping magazine. Its full, thick, dark green and looks like a carpet. I was told it takes up to 2 years for the grass to grow in nice and thick, but I can't imagine my yard looking any nicer than it does today, only 9 months after the renovation project. From a cost perspective they are a bit pricier than other landscaping companies, but I honestly believe I got what I paid for and nothing less. You cannot go wrong with JP Philbin Landscapes & Nursery, if you are looking to do the job perfectly right the first time!

Great company and even better people.
