The sites do not have any type of lane which causes the lots to be soggy and muddy. I had to put my F250 into 4L to keep it from getting stuck while parking the camper. The lot was so filled with tire tracks and mud that our dogs and children would not be able to walk outside. My friend who was 8-months pregnant almost fell multiple times. We tested the water prior to hooking it up to the camper and it came out brown. The final straw was when we lost power between our 2 campers for the 5th time in 1 hour. The staff could not provide any resolutions to these issues. We did not receive the sites that we had booked: poor grounds, unsanitary water and electricity below the necessary 30 amps. I've called the campground at least 10 times, emailed once and called KOA's corporate number twice asking for a response and have never received a call back. We filed a dispute with Chase bank and the campground responded after 40 days stating that we did not meet the cancellation policy. How could we meet this policy when we wanted to stay there but could not due to the conditions of the site. I hope this review will at least save some future travelers time and energy by booking ANYWHERE else.

Rockey's is the very definition of "family campground." It's a place where people bring their kids…read moreand pets to relax, play in the water, and sit by the campfire. Lots of, possibly the majority of, people here are on seasonal sites, and some make these these quite homey, with screened porches, hedges, light displays and statuary. Campers are packed pretty tightly together, but if you came here you probably weren't looking for solitude. Though there were a lot of people here, it was quiet overall. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. Other campers were pretty friendly too. The firewood we got was dry and easy to burn. We appreciated the cleanliness. The grounds were well maintained, and bathrooms and showers were kept very clean. Plenty of hot water in the showers, though water pressure gets weak if more than one person is showering at the same time. If you don't feel like walking all the way to the modern bathhouse, there are outhouses scattered through the campground, though I'd recommend just walking to the bathhouse. Rockey's is situated on a chain of small lakes, and there are some decent fish to be found in these. There's a concrete boat launch, as well as fishing boats and canoes for rent. When I was unloading my kayak by the boat launch, one of the owners said it was no problem for me to leave it on the lawn by the launch, and that I could safely leave all my gear by it with no worries. He as right. We were tent camping, which I think few people do there, and this did present some inconveniences. Some of the sites have few trees...like ours, and a little protection from the sun would have been nice. A lack of trees also left us with no place to string up our clothesline. There are streetlights along the campground lanes, which are handy for walking to the bathhouse after dark, but make your tent very bright at night. Rockey's doesn't cater to tenters, but some do come there, and for them it will be less than ideal. But for others it should be more than satisfactory,

This is a nice Campground make no mistake. However the owners are quite unaccommodating. They…read morewill not treat you well or make any special arrangements for you like other Campgrounds. I loved our back-in spot that was on the pond. My golden retriever wasted no time in jumping into the big pond and started swimming. She loved it! Since we were at one of the pond spots, the pool, playground, and bathroom were very close by. The playground can use some updating, but that's not a big deal. The pool and deck area were clean. The kids were having fun and that's fine by me also. The bath house was recently updated. It was very clean and updated. Shower area was clean also, I was never worried about seeing random bugs or giant gross puddles. It's very well kept. The dogs and I took a few walks while we were there. If you go past the baseball fields, you get to the back section of the campground, more suited for tent camping. Those sites were very well-covered by the trees. That walk was very pleasant. The campground was super close to MSU campus, so that was a plus also. One minute you're on campus, the next minute you're in the country. We went around mid June and that Cottonwood was no joke. The campground certainly lived up to its name. It was basically a Cottonwood blizzard. Thank goodness I'm not allergic, but that may be a consideration for some. Like someone else said on their review, the fire pit wasn't a fire pit, it was a basically a huge divot in the ground that you can easily trip on because it's so shallow. We didn't use it because we didn't have time, but it's technically not false advertising because they didn't say "fire ring" as the amenity. Overall, we had a great experience and looking forward to coming back if we're ever back in the Lansing area.

Overpriced for stays now, bathrooms flooding sewage, pool closed for sewage backup, I'm not a happy camper. They will not allow personal golf carts anymore, i had goose poop, cigarette butts, and the previous camper on my site left a good amount of their black tank contents on the ground. I paid $327.00 for 3 nights. For that amount, a person would expect a clean site. Big corporate campgrounds don't care about their property obviously. We used to camp here at least once a year for the past 6 years now. I can see why there were so many sites open now. Corporate greed has taken yet another nice campground down. We won't be back. (Why won't this site allow me to post zero stars? That's what this place deserves now!)

When we booked our site we asked to reserve a golf cart and were told we had to wait to get there…read more When we got there they said they were all booked and we had to do that while booking the site. The staff is very rude and unprofessional. Talked down to my Mother in law while she try to explain that we had been told to book the golf cart when we got here. When we went back to the office later we were told a different story that we needed to book the cart online. The pool was so cold the kids wouldn't swim. They needed to use the heaters, but I guess that cost too much money. The overall issue here is that the owners are money hungry and cheap. They pay their young staff the absolute minimum and work them too many hours which in turn makes the staff not care about the guests in the slightest. The power went out and the pool shut down because apparently the back-up generator had broke down and it "cost too much" to fix. It is sad because the park itself has a great location, great amenities and big sites. The owners need to learn that they could have a great thing here if they cared a bit more about the guest, take care of their employees more, spend the money on heating the pool when it gets chillier, and buy more golf carts with a policy all of the employees know. So, this is an add-on: I believe a manager of some sort came to our camp site after reading my review. Asked to speak to me, but I was walking the dog. He said he would be back at 7:00 to speak to me and never showed. We went to get ice cream and asked the front desk of he was coming or not. They proceeded to be rude yet again, surprise, surprise, and said "don't wait around and go ahead and leave your review my name is Tracie with an IE"! Guess I'll make sure to now leave this review on all our Michigan camping community websites and friends. All I can say is WOW!!! The owners are trolling our reviews and saying horrible things. My wife and I had to block them.
