I mean, we didn't hear one squeak in any floorboard! Talkin' rustic and solid - a wonderful combination. This Inn has impeccable cleanliness and tasteful décor of every room. We came with another couple who are regular guests at B&B's all over the USA. They were decisively impressed. We came for the nearby Yadkin Valley wineries but found simply hanging out at A Mighty Oak to be quite pleasant. We sat on rocking chairs on the 2nd floor covered porch as we read or just talked as the stars emerged in the sky. Then we ascended to the 3rd floor for games (ping-pong, board games, TV sports) and reviewed the substantial bookcase. Of course, a huge facet of any B&B is the proprietor. We all recognize a passion for excellence when we experience one. It's there in spades with Todd, showing up in attentiveness to our needs and a pleasant, playful grace about him and his wife Lisa. And we saw his excellence in that 2nd "B" in B&B. We're talking as close to farm-to-table as it gets since the B&B's rear acreage is home to cows, chicken and plants. And, uh FYI, no smell in the air. Match freshness with culinary excellence and you've got an Rx for memorable breakfasts. I mean, I had never had a Scottish Egg and can't wait to see what Todd has up his sleeve next time! We checked out other campgrounds that were newer and more level but absolutely NO trees. That made it worth everything because no matter how hot, we were never so hot we had to run air all day! And the wifi was one of the best we ever had in a campground.

There is a pool and some activities for kids like mini golf a small BB court and a playground. Sites are very shaded and the bathhouse is older but clean. I'd advise bring plenty of leveling blocks as most of the open sites are very very sloped. Owner is very friendly and works hard to keep the place updated but o think could use some help with everyday maintenance like cleaning up the sites from tree debris and raking the area. Sites could definitely use some new gravel as when it rains, there is a lot of mud around camper. All in all a decent place to stay as it's near wine country and about 20 minutes from Mt. Airy.

Three trails sends an email a few days before check in with where to park, instructions on how to get in, etc. I love that they give you PIN numbers to access the front door and your unit door and you don't have the hassle of needing to carry around keys.

They put us on the upper floor, and the elevator is still out of service. We did not receive the email stating what room we had been assigned, within the time to cancel the reservation. They claimed a cane was not an excuse, but it is accepted under the ADA. I know this is true because I was an ADA compliance officer. If this is considered a public space as a hotel, they are required to make accommodations under federal law. They would not refund our reservation. Avoid this place. They do not follow federal guidelines. They can't repair an elevator after three years. The city of Elkin, NC needs to investigate this facility.

This was the only place that had rooms available since Charleston, WV. We were tired and at this point didn't care what the room was like. The front desk staff (a young gentleman) was very kind and friendly over the phone and even made sure to give us alternate directions around the construction. It was 3am by the time we made it to the hotel. He gave us a discount on the room. The beds were clean. The rest looked like it hadn't been updated since before Best Western went out of business. The continental breakfast was normal and did the trick. We needed a place to sleep for a few hours and we accomplished that. Don't expect anything fancy.
