There were a few people in front of us so we had to wait but you could tell they were really chill and pleasant to each customer. They were patient with organizing my group with waivers, Groupons and finding our correct shoe size. They were great with explaining the safety and rules of the bloudering area too. Starting off on the V0's (easy) to V8's (difficult) there was a variety of different routes to try. It was nice for beginners that there were several V0 and V0+ routes scattered around the gym area - to keep things interesting and allow us to explore the floor. Each path had it's own personality - some were easy and others made you think before you act. It was an awesome workout not only for our bodies but our problem-solving too! There are washrooms, lockers (bring your own lock), a water fountain, cubbies, and a little lounge area with a mini drink machine ($1.50 for a cup). In the end, our arms were tired and our fingertips were tender, but we left with a feeling of accomplishment and appreciation for all climbers! This is the first gym out of Austin (Austin Bouldering project) I've climbed at, and I can see how…read morespoiled I am, but all things considered this is a great facility still. It's on the small to medium size and is a brand new, clean gym. There's a good variety of angled walls, from overhung cave areas to vertical slab walls with a good variety of difficulty levels from V0-V7+. Holds are clean and problem settings are decent with individual routes being pretty easy to follow thanks to color coded holds and each route is labeled with a taped grade on the beginning hold. It seems new routes are set by color weekly, with all orange routes being reset one week, and yellow problems being reset the next, for example, so it makes it easy to locate new problems for frequent members and easy to know which will be coming down soon if you're trying to finish a problem before it's gone. My main gripe however, is the lack of enough down climb holds. There are plenty of large gaps with no down climb holds nearby at the top of routes and when you're climbing beyond V1-V2 levels with big, good holds, downclimbing after an exhaustive 100% effort can be a chore at best or a bit dangerous at worst with no easy way to get down. Coupled with the fact I wasn't made to read anything or sign a waiver, this seems like a liability for the gym. I also wish the top of the wall surface was consistent. Some areas have a flat top edge while others have a narrow lip that you can more easily grip around, and it's harder to grab the flat edge when expecting the lip. There are approximately 6-7 routes for sport climbing with auto belay machines, which would be fun, but probably not enough variety to keep strictly sport climbers satisfied. I wish there were more volumes on the wall, to add more wall surface variety, and the bathrooms/locker room areas are small, but adequate, and lockers are free to use. People, employees and climbers are friendly and helpful. Overall it's a great gym.

Good - 10 visit punchcard ($54.00 + GST) - this is the cost with a Be Active Pass card - 2 squash courts and 3 table tennis tables - Squash league ($18.00 to spare (up to 3 games), $63.00 for part time (up to 8 games) and $147.00 for full time) - Large multi-purpose gym for volleyball, badminton, basketball, soccer, etc. - Multiple drop-in times for sports (ie. Friday volleyball is very popular) - Less than 10 minute walk from the Metrotown skytrain - A couple of EV charging stations ($2.00/hour) Bad - Archaic booking system (no online booking system available. You have to call to book a squash/racquetball court) - Half the time when you call, staff doesn't answer - Downstairs weight room is cramped - 1 combo court (normally used for squash or racquetball but they currently refuse to move it) - 50% of the time the men's shower facilities don't have body wash You get what you pay for at Bonsor. They made false accusations, shouted at him without cause, punished him with arbitrary "time-outs," and consistently treated him with disrespect. Their behavior was not only inappropriate but also harmful. As a parent, I find this completely unacceptable. Children should feel safe, supported, and encouraged--not shamed, blamed, or bullied by the very people entrusted to care for them.

Only thing is that at the top where there is the overhang they have a white plastic pipe on the edge. It's slippery and if they put a stepper rock on the bottom, it's very hard to get access and there is no grip. But I do see the pro with those white pipe. At least you won't get scraped. They have a few auto belay. Not bad. Had a great time here. First time here free rentals. Definitely coming back

As mentioned in other reviews (and I was really hoping they were wrong) the place has a deep smell of feet when you first enter, but luckily the nose senses get overwhelmed and you get used to it after a little bit. Other than that, my first time rock-climbing was amazing! After signing our waiver forms, Christian (our instructor) came out and greeted us. He was friendly, helpful and remembered all our names in a really short time! He took us climbing walls starting with easy to medium to hard. He was very informative in what muscles we should be using, giving us tips (like keeping your arms straight as much as possible decrease fatigue), encouraging us, giving us breaks, etc.. He was very flexible in what difficulty in walls we wanted to climb and gave us tips on which rocks to use if we got stuck. We went through 4.5 walls in our 2 hours and my arms were spent. Good workout for your body and mind, to figure out the best path and determination to get to the top. Overall, super great experience and he was an amazing instructor! I would definitely climb and hang out here again!

The staff were friendly and gave helpful tips which made the service feel personal and motivating. The value was great because you get access to a lot of climbing space and gear for a reasonable price. The quality of the climbing walls and safety equipment was excellent and everything felt thoughtfully designed. The selection of climbing routes was impressive with options for beginners and advanced climbers. I only visited once before writing this review but it stood out as one of the most active and teen friendly places I have been to. Teenagers would love it because it is empowering adventurous and fun.

They also asked us to show our QR code for our vaccination status, and also one ID. Once we all checked in, I asked for fall assessments for all my friends, so they know on how to fall. They demonstrated how to fall, and ask us to repeat and made sure that we did it correctly. The staff also provided some useful technique to fall on different wall (overhang, slanted), and make sure that we understand the risk associated with it. The are quite a number of problems on the wall ranging from hex 1 to 6. Hex 1 is v0, hex 2 v0-v2, and so on. Not a big fan of the hex grading system as it's really hard to compare with the other gyms. Problems reset after around a month. I do like the fact that they have more climbing down holds lately so I do not have to jump down from a really high hold. Amenities in this site include foot bath (ask for towel at the front desk) , strength training area, and changing room with lockers. It's pretty hard to book for this location, so I have to always book a week ahead. This location is also always more crowded than the other location. Personally, I think drop-in is quite expensive, but I think the membership is worth as I go more than twice a week.

It's got all the essentials you'd expect to find anywhere, (no kettle bells though so crossfitters stay away!) and doesn't get too crowded. However like all gyms it has overly buff workout - enthusiasts who tend to "camp" on the equipment. So if you can, go during the day when it's a bit quieter. they also offer personal training and physiotherapy sessions, and your north van recreation membership is good at all the other community centre's in North Vancouver.

And I been to gyms in 3rd world countries like Laos and Cambodia. What's a good comparison to this gym? It's like a hotel gym but worse. This gym is very very small. If you actually lift bro, you won't last in this gym. It totally makes sense why you can only book 1 hour and max of 20 people, because if there were 20 people in there, there would be no space left to workout, it's really that small. There's no equipment in this gym, it gives you the bare basic amount of gym equipment to call it a gym, there's like 5 treadmills, 1 stairmaster, a couple bo-flex apparatuses. There's some free weights and some squat racks. But yea this gym is pretty bad in terms of what you have to workout with. If you pay for a community center membership for about $500 a year, you would be bored within a month due to the lack of size lack of equipment. I came without my phone because being on your phone is a huge distraction at the gym, even having ear pods in, you're not gonna totally focus on your workout. Kind of a bad idea because there is NO music whatsoever here. It's deadly quiet. Even the people that lift, the noises of people exercising is quiet, top 5 quietest gyms. Being new to Vancouver, I liked the thought of a "community center" where ppl in the community can get ripped together, but there is none of that in this gym. Definitely a 1 star gym, gonna give it a 2 star reviews, because the center probably does good things for the community, the staff here is friendly, I saw some kids workin out downstairs. This is a great find for parents with babies or toddlers out there…read more Mount Pleasant Community Centre has a spacious, open space, drop in play time for kids. There's soft mats, jumbo building blocks, feet peddle cars, slides, see-saws and even little picnic tables for snacks. It's only $3 per child and you can let your little one run wild! Well, please make sure to keep an eye on them as well, but this is a wonderful space to let your little one burn off some energy as well as have fun.

Pros: - 2 areas specifically for deadlifting - 1 barbell pad (I need this for barbell hip thrust) - beautiful view of False Creek / Science World - new cable machines - there's an assisted pullup machine - spacious stretching area - they have large lockers (the long ones) - there's an ab wheel Cons: - no smith machine (!!!! What???) - no hip abduction machine - only 4 benches. Bonsor is similar in size and has at least 6 - it's a small gym - some asshole didn't put back the weights in one of the deadlifting area (325lbs). No f-in way am I reracking that. - the only extra barbells are the 2 in the deadlifting area. The other 2 are in the squat rack. At Bonsor, they have 6+ extra barbells that's in addition to the ones in the squat racks and bench press. Won't be going here again, not really worth the price of admission.

Free parking lot, but heard that's changing to paid parking this summer :( the front desk is always helpful, they have a cafe in the back for a drink or a quick snack. Twice a year (May and Nov), they have a pottery sale from their members and everything is so reasonably priced!
