Opened by Christian Rath in September 2023, it features dishes learned from his long career in food service. Spargel is the German word for Asparagus. This is a comprehensive tour of authentic German cusines from many regions of Germany. Just explore the menu options on the website. We started with a variety of Paulaner draft beers at the bar with the knowledgeable, Beau. Our server at our table was Kelly L. She was very helpful explaining the different dishes and provided excellent service. We started with two of their famous suppe (soup) - Spargelcremesuppe - gream of asparagus w/ garlic croutons ($8.50) and the most popular seasonal Cream of Yellow Chatrelle Mushroom Suppe w/ bacon & onion ($15.50). Unique to us and delicious. Dinners were trio of wild game sausages-wild boar, rabbit, & elk served w/homefries, red cabbage, & ligonberry sause ($34.50), Schweinelende-pan-seared pork tenderloins w/yellow chantrelle sauce, potato croquettes, and bacon wrapped green beans ($36.50), Gebratene Schweine Haxe-pork shank slow roasted with dunckel (dark) beer sauce w/ potato dumplings & sauerkraut ($35). The last dinner was the Bavarian Sampler Tour of German Cusine for Two - 12 items on this platter ($80). Our party of five could have shared this dish. It was Wunderbar! Spargel serves authentic & unique dinners along with the familiar such as Rouladen, Schnitzels, & Goulash. Desserts were creme brulee Grand Manier ($12.50) & apple strudel w/ warm vanilla sauce ($9.50). Their online menu is a must see before a visit. Outstanding meals & excellent service. Danke to Kelly L., Beau, Christian, and chefs. Open: Wednesday - Sunday: 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm Nick & Liz, Judy, Shannon & Todd GACA Albany, NY USA

While I liked the physical ambience of the restaurant, there were an incredible number of houseflies buzzing around the restaurant, our booth and our plates. Our guests were literally waving their hands continually through the meal to keep the bugs off their food. The service was weak. Even though the restaurant was mostly empty, the waitress was slow to approach the table and check back on how we were doing. She spent a lot of time chitchatting with the bartender. Basic things like delivering an order of one of the house hot teas without honey lemon or teaspoon. I had to request each of them. The food itself was hit and miss. Two of us had the fish and chips with the house special tater tots. The fish was OK, although nothing special. The tater tots were actually a disappointment. They were powdery and dry on the inside and had an unpleasant texture in general. The other two guests ordered the BLT sandwich and the chicken pesto sandwich. No big complaints, but no big compliments either. All in all, a swing and a miss and we probably won't return given the other great choices in Saratoga Springs.

Their coleslaw is also amazing. We have gotten steaks in years past. Their thick cut bacon is also a regular at our campsite. The Meat Market of the North never disappoints.

If you're not a goat cheese fan....TRY the Kunik. It's seriously the best I've ever had. The "Sappy Ewe" and "Pasco's Ration" aren't cheese slouches, either. Perhaps when the weather was nicer, or if there was a tour guide or something, I would have gotten more out of it. Speaking of getting out... it was very muddy and a tour bus got stuck while we were there. Be warned.

From the start, we were encouraged to take our time and order as we went, which feels like a rarity these days. We enjoyed ice-cold drinks (at great prices!), a charcuterie board, smash burger, meatballs, and the chicken and waffles. Whether you're looking to share a bunch of plates or order individual meals, the menu really has something for everyone. The staff was warm and welcoming from start to finish. We even got to spend some time with Katy, whose enthusiasm and passion for the restaurant radiated. She and her team aren't just opening a restaurant, they're thinking about how it fits into and contributes to the community. You can tell that every decision was made with meticulous attention to detail and the customer experience in mind. It was also great to hear that so many people on the team are Glens Falls restaurant veterans. Katy definitely made regulars out of us. We can't wait to be back!

The drinks were really good, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable. No complaints there. The food was more of a mixed bag. I had the pizza. The sauce had a pretty strong raw tomato taste and could have used more seasoning. The crust was probably my biggest issue. It tasted more like a frozen crust than fresh dough, and I think another couple of minutes in the oven would have helped. The cheese also didn't taste like fresh mozzarella. We also ordered the charcuterie. It looked good and the ingredients were fine, but I think there's room to make it more interesting. Fresh baked crisps and some house pickled vegetables would go a long way. Nothing was terrible. It just wasn't food that had me thinking, "I need to come back next week for that." I'd definitely come back for the drinks and atmosphere, and I'd be happy to try some other things on the menu. I just wouldn't order the pizza or charcuterie again. 4 stars because: The service and drinks were the highlights for me. The food just didn't quite hit the same level.
