When I noticed that the refrigerator in my room wasn't cold enough, a friendly maintenance person was there right away to replace it. Our housekeeper was also attentive and friendly. Most of the things that needed improvement were in the room. The deadbolt lock on the balcony door didn't work. Although, that didn't really worry me. We just reported it upon checking out. The thing that was a bit hard to deal with was the loud air conditioner. It was startling every time it turned on, and it required turning up the TV volume a little. It wasn't a deal breaker, though, because it wasn't loud enough to wake us up at night. My suggestion to housekeeping would be to include the balcony as part of the room cleaning after each checkout. It just needs to be wiped down and swept regularly of cobwebs and bugs. Everything inside the room was clean. Regarding parking, try to cut them some slack on the limited number of spaces. The hotel was built a long time ago, and they did their best with the renovation. My only issue is with the EV chargers that no one used during my stay, and guests with normal cars couldn't park in those spaces. I think EV chargers should be moved outside of the main lot on the side of the building facing Dixon Ave. Having said that, parking was plentiful during the day, but it filled up by evening. We had to park on Dixon Ave a couple times, but always nearby. To end on a positive note, the overall look of this renovated hotel is quite nice. I enjoyed the rooftop lounge, and was fascinated by the history of the place. I liked how a lot of the prominent features of the past were carried over to the renovated design.

Horrible. Needed to cancel because of Illness and called 78 Hours in advance to cancel a 2 day…read morereservation and was told that the cancellation deadline was 11 days in advance. This is hotel is not a resort. I could reschecule but was still respoonsible fot the $529.00 reservation charge on my credit card regardless of what room I reserved at a later date. So if feeling better I will try to keep the original revervation or reschedule and still be responsible of the original charge even if the new stay dates were less. Was going to treat myself and will have an unpleasant taste in my nouth about the Earl even before I get there since I had not been to Charlevoix since my husband passed away. I have always stayed at the Weathervane and believe me that is really a better place to stay at a more reasonable price and is still my favrorte place to stay in the future. Better rooms looking over Pine River and ample parking and better service.

The captain Mara & first mate Jeff were fantastic and very knowledgeable about a lot of things. It was a great mixture of them filling us in on things as well as giving us time as a group. We did the two hour charter which we felt was perfect for getting some sun and boat action around the harbor/bay. They also offer additional options and cap group size at 6. The grounds are spacious with a pool (closed in the fall), gym, and indoor hot tub. There is plenty of free parking. We loved the first day's breakfast and wish we had gone out on the second day. The number of breakfast options decrease when there are less guests. It is available 7 a.m - 10 a.m. The room was extremely clean and spacious but the space was not well designed. There was not a desk or table which is a big drawback for me. The shower is small. A larger person would find it difficult to use. The ironing board was horrible. It was a small one to use on the sink coulter with a leg that would stay up. It kept falling. All staff were very friendly.

We had a great weekend at Crooked River Lodge and it was so nice to be able to bring our dog with…read moreus! The hotel is so nice yet rustic inside, really a log cabin style feeling. When we arrived in the evening, the inside fireplace and outside fire pit were both burning. Sitting by the fire outside was so peaceful, keeping warm and looking at the stars while enjoying complimentary beverages- they always have tables in the lobby stocked with water, iced tea, coffee, and hot water for tea or cocoa. Our room was nice, nothing crazy luxurious but spacious and well appointed. The king bed was comfy and the shower pressure was better than at home! My dog loved the little patio space looking out onto the back lawn. I saw reviews talking up the breakfast- it was fine, good to great if you managed your expectations. There were 2 hot food options and the rest was a regular continental breakfast spread, albeit lots of options. Like one morning they had a French toast bake and scrambled eggs. But it's not a made to order diner or omlette bar or something. Still good and plenty filling for us so I'm not casting this as a negative at all. The grounds are nice as well but the nature trail was a bit muddy- but it was early May after some rain! We'd love to come back, as a weekend wasn't enough time to explore all the places nearby that we wanted. Also shout out to the staff who found my sleeping eye mask in the room after we checked out and called me to let me know (and offered to hold it or mail it!)

This cozy hotel, nestled near Petosky and surrounded by many wineries, is the most fabulous boutique hotel. The outdoor trees are beautifully decorated and it makes you feel like you're in a hallmark movie. As we drove up, and parked we were met by an employee who knew our names and took our bags to our room. Felt like I was in Dubai getting VIP status service again. Our check-in was swift, and we were given a tour of the downstairs which had an amazing bar with a roaring fire, and free snacks and waters. It also had a small gym, and a game room containing a billiards table. Once we finally got to the room we were so shocked. The room was massive and absolutely breath taking. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the sheets were super soft. The highlight was the outdoor patio. We got a room on the first floor. The patio came enclosed with heaters so that you can go out and look out at the lake and not freeze. During Christmas they put a Christmas tree on each patio. Very romantic and festive. Service is, by far, the number one thing about this place. The hotels beauty is obvious, but it only goes so far if the service isn't there. We loved every minute of our stay. The bartender in the evening was the best. We sat there for hours and just chatted. He was very personable, and fun to talk to. We also wanted to use the jacuzzi, so the front desk employee went, and opened it up for us even though it was freezing outside. They also let us stay 20 minutes past the hours of operation without question. There were many more things we didn't do like snow shoeing on the lake, but they offer many things for kids, families, or outdoor enthusiasts. Overall, this was probably one of the best vacations we have had. From the service to Amenities they checked every box. If you are looking for romance, or even a family get away then this place is a must. We also took advantage of the wineries in the area. They are still open in the winter. I wish I would of snapped more photos for all to see, but I was wanted to live in the moment and not technology. This place has won many awards as a top wine hotel in the country. Just make sure you call way in advance for reservations. They book up extremely early. We booked a year in advance.
