Pros: Stayed in one of the suites for Wreathfest. It was very spacious and I loved the fireplace! Its gas, and has an option for no heat so you can make it babysafe. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. Decor was cute and very much what is expected of a ski chateau. The table and mini fridge were very convenient for eating and playing games. Cons: - Definitely could use some updating to the decor and paint. There were some small cracked tiles, etc. - Walking up 1.5 flights of stairs carrying a baby is a lot everything you need to go to the beds, but there were 2 bathrooms, one on each floor which was convenient - I dont think the controls worked for the heat/fan. The heat would not go any lower than 68, which upstairs where the beds were, was probably actually higher. It got very warm. read more

All of northern Michigan is pretty but this resort is extra special. The grounds are vast and have exquisite landscaping. Thoroughly enjoyed riding the ski lift on a crisp Fall day to experience their Skybridge. A remarkable engineering feat, the bridge is the world's longest timber-towered suspension bridge. Breathtaking and fun to walk across. Thereafter, rewarded with a food truck/bar and the best Mother Nature could offer. Additionally, resort staff everywhere were sincere in their efforts to ensure we had a great time. Hope you're lucky enough to run into Walter (who was actually security detail) since he's a wealth of information and clearly appreciated his surroundings! what an amazing weekend! The snowboarding lesson was great and our daughter had a blast at the water park. The customer service was phenomenal. We got stuck up there in the blizzard and the resort comped our room for two nights so we didn't have to risk the drive back downstate. The food at Waffle Cabin, Trophy Room, Forty Acres, and breakfast at Everett was good, we didn't have a chance to try the others but definitely will when we go back. The kids festival was wonderful too, so lucky we got to go at such a great time (minus the blizzard anyway). read more

Oh my gosh, we had so much fun at this place. It is a large large complex / resort with multiple things to do. I was there in the fall and we did the golf cart trail ride, which was fun and fairly priced. All the kids were doing the gondola rides. I checked out the local pup. I recommend it because you get to see several hundred acres and what's really going on My kids who live in Michigan go here as a ski/snow resort in the winter and it's fun ! read more

It was $211 that was paid and I want that back. I am very disappointed and upset about not being able to talk with anyone about this. The prompts say they will call you back in the order it was received and calling multiple times will delay. I still have not received a call or email, nothing. This is ridiculous. read more

The hotel room was incredible -- spacious, beautifully designed, and full of thoughtful in-room amenities. The grounds were stunning and very well maintained, and the food was good (though quite pricey). My only physical complaint was that my building had no elevator, and my room was on the third floor. Unfortunately, the booking and billing process was a major disappointment. The system showed I'd checked out early when I hadn't, flagged my credit card as declined due to a billing address issue (front desk insisted that address didn't matter and wouldn't change it), and even charged me for two rooms for one night. It took more than ten calls and conversations to fix everything, and no one ever apologized for the inconvenience. Thousands of people come to walk the SkyBridge and enjoy the beautiful trees. Tips: But tickets be fore you come. The price goes up in real time based on demand. Also, ASK if the 6 or 8-person lifts are operating before getting into line for the two-person lift. Why Boyne wasn't notifying visitors of this option is an annoying mystery. You'll stand in line for the lift for an hour. Then you'll get to the SkyBridge and will wait for two hours to cross. Save your money and visit a State Park. read more

I started out my ski day taking the parking lot shuttle/trolley from the distant parking lot to the drop off and Convention Center. I was going to put my boots on and purchase a ticket. I bought a ticket, which means you have to purchase a reloadable GO Card. Tickets purchased on site were ~30% more than purchasing them on- line the day before. Really? You have to pay extra for a last minute decision to ski. I like to put my ski bag in a locker. $6 for the smallest locker. WOW! Then it gets REALLY annoying. Your GO Card is scanned as you enter the lift line. You have to come to a complete stop and pass the Go Card close to the reader, which often takes several attempts. Annoying, irritating, and frustrating. I enjoy a little interaction with the lift operators. Not here. They stand back looking board and don't greet skiers. My group stopped for lunch. I did not see the previous cafeteria. It is now ski rental. We ate at Forty Acres Tavern. 'Handhelds' averaged $25 and 'Chefs Compositions' averaged about $44. How many families can afford that? When I finished skiing I stood waiting for the parking lot shuttle/trolley back to my car. And waited, and waited. Someone came along and called for a shuttle bus. How would I know the phone number or to call? The bus driver told me it was a slow day so the parking lot shuttle/trolley driver went home. What kind of customer service is that? The answer is ...TERRIBLE. Which also sums up my Boyne Mountain experience today. read more

Do NOT go tubing at Boyne. It's a complete waste of time and money. Tried to go two times in the last couple weeks. The first week, you went down the hill so slow that you had to get up in the middle of the hill and try to push yourself down the second half of the hill. It was miserable. Tonight we got there and the ramp to take you up the hill wasn't working. We immediately asked for a refund as soon as we got there because the time it takes to get a refund is ridiculous. Trust me. The tickets were a bit expensive. But having said all the negative things, this experience was pretty cool especially with the fall colors. You can go across the bridge as many times as you want. We happen to be there on a sunny weekend for one of the last snowboarding weekends. We stayed at the Clock Tower. The room itself needs a little TLC after a long ski season but was very convenient to getting on/off the lifts. We ate twice at 40 Acres. The food was good but of course, resort pricing. I was chatting with another person staying at the resort and they said they ordered 3 pizzas and two orders of breadsticks, it cost them $160!!! So be prepared to spend money on food if you aren't packing a picnic basket. We also had trouble getting the correct pricing for the lift ticket. They said $49 for the day, $25 if you showed a room number but that was only online and the website was down so you couldn't get the discount. They also said you could get the lift ticket for $36 if you have a season pass at another resort but you had to have the physical pass, not just on your phone. So again, we couldn't get that discount because we didn't have the card with us. Overall it was a good overnight visit, I can't imagine how busy it is during the regular season! read more

We will never stay at this place again. My husband and I drove 4 hours with our three kids for a fun family vacation to find out after we arrived that the water park was closed!!! My husband spoke at least four people discussing our stay and not one person told us that the main reason we were coming was closed down for maintenance! Everything closed early, and everything online that we read was different than what the front desk said. The ice machines had no ice, the toilets barely flushed, our phone didn't work in the room, the pullout couch that my kids had to sleep on was dirty. Staff was rude especially in the arcade. My husband asked if they had any milk (for my toddler) and the guy was rude and asked him why? Seriously, does it matter?! The food was overpriced and gross. read more

This was my first time up this way and I went with a friend and our 3 boys. We had a room in the Clock Tower and the room was really very cute and nicely decorated! When we first got to that building though, there was no hotel staff to be found. We were looking for a cart to carry our things and none to be found. Seemed like there was a reception desk that perhaps is staffed only during the winter (skiing) months. Same with a very large empty restaurant that maybe was only used in the winter as well. The resort is set up with many hotel buildings and a little street down the middle with shops and restaurants. It seemed like we were in a little town and everything was walkable. There were lots of yard games out and about that we could stop and play if we'd liked to. Also a bike rental shop, zip lining, and a few outdoor pools (not the water park). I guess you could go to the top of the mountain on one ski lift but we didn't make it. There were plenty of activities planned too! Story time, bonfire, outdoor movie, just to name a few (and sorry I only paid attention to the kids ones!). I think there's something for everyone! read more

We have been coming here for 20 years. The last year or so since Jason Perl took over management, the resort has gone WAYYYYYYYYYYY downhill. I won't go into too much detail, but if you go to avalanche bay, watch out for the angry little racist named Shanda at the check in desk. My 7 year old daughter got hurt on the slide and this miserable excuse for a human being would not call first aid, nor allow us to use the phone to call my wife. I had to track down a manager after about 15 minutes to help. When I escalated this to Jason Perl, he refused to address the issue with Shanda other than a quick chat, refused to have her reprimanded and at first agreed that she would apologize and then when pressed for the apology, Mr Perl, (fellow racist), refused to allow her to apologize. I would also like to note that I emailed "Keen, Brad" bkeen@boyneresorts.com, skircher@boyneresorts.com, cwitherspoon@boyneresorts.com None of them even bothered to respond outside of the abrasive Jason Perl. here is the part original email: Below is the initial email written to the worthless Mr Perl. Hello Boyne Family, I hope your day is going well. I wanted to fill you in on an incident at Avalanche Bay on September 1st at around 4:00 pm involving an employee by the name of Shanda that has yet to be resolved. I took my children to Avalanche Bay waterpark on Sunday, September the 1st. I have a 3 year old son and 2 daughters, ages 5 and 7. That day, I took my daughters on the big blue waterslide. My oldest, Mariam, was tossed around in the slide and was banged up pretty hard. She had a bump on her head, a small scratch on her temple, and her swimsuit burned against the rubber of the slide and burned her skin on her shoulder (please see attached video). The instant she got off of the slide, she was bawling uncontrollably. When my younger daughter Noor saw that, she also started crying pretty hard. I took them to the front desk and told the girl there, Shanda, what had happened and she could see both girls crying and my older one clutching her head and shoulder. I asked Shanda for some assistance, and to contact my wife as my daughter needed first aid and I did not have my phone with me. She said she was unable to dial out on her desk phone for any reason. I asked if she could maybe let me use her phone or if she could call my wife for me please as my daughter was hurt and I couldn't find anyone to help. She said there was nothing she could do for me. She didn't call anyone, didn't offer first aid, but rather smirked and shrugged her shoulders. I said "Shanda, please, I have two crying kids here and one visibly hurt and in pain, can't you help?" Another smirk and shoulder shrug. Now, I didn't mention this before, but we are a conservative Muslim family and my wife wears a headscarf...and from the minute we checked in, and Shanda noticed this, the vibe was different. I'm not saying racism is at play here, but it sure felt like it. When I asked for a manager, I was told that there was not one around. I walked away with my daughters both still crying and searched the floor for one for about fifteen minutes. During this time, my wife had come back to check on us and I spotted her at the front door. As I approached, I noticed another employee behind the desk with Shanda. I approached that employee and asked for a manager...turns out, she was the manager. Brittany Howe I believe was her name. She saw the state my daughter was in and instantly sprang into action and took us to the back room for first aid. I explained to her what happened when I asked Shanda for help, and she was flabbergasted, but not surprised. We filled out an incident report and she gave me her manager's contact info and asked me to call Kristie Daniels on Wednesday when she would be back at work. I thanked her and we left the establishment (only to catch a dirty look from Shanda on our way out). On Wednesday I was able to reach Kristie and explain to her what happened. She was outraged and said Brittany had called her that same day and told her what happened. Kristie said if she didn't live 45 minutes away from work, she would have come in that very same day and handled Shanda. She told me that she would be meeting with her manager Patrick Patoka and Shanda on Sunday and she would address the issue. A small group of us have been skiing at Boyne for 10 years. We stay on property, buy ski passes for all 4 days, prepay breakfast and eat at the pubs and restaurants. The price has always been high, but reasonable and we love the ski in-ski out advantage. After Covid, the prices skyrocketed but we understood because we were on property during Covid and saw that they were very slow. We tip extremely well, don't cause any issue, and spend all our time and money on property. Then, this year, when I called to sign up once again for the same condo and same trip, I was told that due to the February holiday "MLK" we would be required to pay for an extra night. We always have come on a Wednesday and leave on a Sunday. But, we would have to pay for Sunday night regardless of the 10 years we have stayed. The manager/supervisor was not only unhelpful but was extremely unfriendly and dismissive. I asked him if 10 years of being a great client made any difference and he quickly said " Nope". Well we are now going to ski a Nubs Nob and stay in an AirB&B. The cost of this years trip with be about 40% of last years and instead of a 2 room condo, we have a 3 room with 2 wood fireplaces on a lake. We will not be back to Boyne, and while they don't really care, over time this will haunt them as others realized their customer service is horrible and uncaring. A summer weekend at Boyne MR can be delightful but it is hit and miss for many things. I will try to point out my rating by listing the HITS & MISSES and please read both so you can plan your trip accordingly... Hits: 1. it is beautiful country and the main lodge is nicely appointed. We had 3 rooms and they were comfortable, clean and the staff is attentive. 2. There is plenty to do IF you want to pay for it. The SkyBridge is a nice walk. The Hemlock lift is very pleasant to ride to the top of the mountain. 3. There are some nice shops for cloths and logo items. 4. The golf cart rental for a trip around the property is nice. Good trails to follow. Also if you mountain bike or road bike you will not be disappointed. 5. Everett's Restaurant was very nice. Food was flavorful and our group of 10 enjoyed it. (Although the restaurant tends to run out of menu items) 6. Avalanche Bay is a nice diversion for kiddies. As well as the outdoor pool. 7. Our kitchen was nice to have...we had plenty of snacks and fixed breakfast in the morning before heading out for the day's adventures. 8. Way too much to do for a weekend...maybe next time we will do other stuff. MISSES: 1. Prices....UGH....yep, it is a resort BUT bring your own pop, water, beer, wine. Bottled water is $4.75/bottle. Beer can be as high as $12/can...(feels like you are at the ball park with these prices. 2. HOT WATER: they need a bigger hot water heater...it takes about 10 minutes to get hot enough water in the shower and sinks. And then it isn't hot enough to cause burns or problems. 3. USE CAUTION when taking a shower. In our room the 'jacuzzi/shower' was so slippery I nearly fell down several times while showering. Either bring your own bath mat or use a towel. 4. This is a CASHLESS RESORT....NO MONEY CHANGES HANDS...EVER. Can't purchase anything without using a card. Yeah, that is a miss because purchasing a pack of gum should not require a card. 5. Avalanche Bay is NOISY!!!!! Also, several slides were closed so it was extra busy. And you don't get a break on the tickets even if you can't even ride the slides. And YOU CANNOT bring food or drink into Avalanche Bay. 6. The toilet paper, paper towels are the cheapest they could purchase. They don't even tear off well. So you use twice as much to do the same job and in the end they save NO money. (I thought this resort touted itself as being classy.) 7. Did I mention the cost for drinks???? UGH...bring your own. 8. Purchasing tickets for the bridge, the lift, Avalanche Bay is ridiculous. The app didn't work well....we received our 'QR' confirmation with the 10 tickets for the bridge...AFTER WE WALKED THE BRIDGE...we had to go to the ticket office to 'iron' out the problems....but the app is so poorly designed you could spend hours trying to complete the transaction. 9. Food at Avalanche Bay was less than stellar....got a COLD pretzel with cheese....talk about YUK!!!! For $8.00 I expect better. 10. Shops close EARLY so spend your money before 5:00 pm. 11. The rooms are looking a little tired and in need of some updates....door locks that don't work...curtains that are torn...etc. Would I come again? Probably...but I would definitely plan better and bring those items I discussed above. I would NOT waste my time at Avalanche Bay...but what can you do with kids? read more

We booked a condo and specifically asked for it to be handicapped accessible. We stressed to them that it has to be wheelchair accessible, I can not walk or stand at all. When we arrived we had to wait 3 hours past check in time because they said they were washing linens. I asked again to confirm that it was wheelchair accessible and was assured it was. Whem we finally got the ok to go to our condo there were 3 steps to get up to the front door. They told us there was no other option available so now we are stuck trying to make it work. I was carried up the steps which is embarrassing and dangerous. Then I couldn't even take a shower while we were there since the bathroom was not accessible. Horrible experience and they didn't even have the decency to apologize or discount us for the problems. read more

After having spent most of the 1970s and 80s at Boyne Mountain most every weekend in the winter. We're Helga head of the ski school taught our daughter to ski and love winter sports. How great it was to come back and find it in the best shape ever, obviously growing and thriving with tremendous service, hospitality and food. Went here for a conference and was pleasantly surprised. Of all the Michigan ski resorts I've visited I'd have to say this one is my favorite so far. I stayed in the Mountain Grand Lodge which looks pretty majestic as you approach it from the winding road and is reminiscent of a teen ski movie. The lobby is expansive complete with large leather seating and fireplace. There are a few restaurants on the grounds. The food is tasty and the cocktail pours are generous. The staff is friendly and helpful during the check in process explaining the resort amenities. The rooms are spacious and many contain nice features to make your stay a little more special. I lucked up on a king room with an in-room whirlpool, a fireplace and a wet bar with mini fridge. More importantly to me the bed was super comfy with tons of pillows, the shower was hot with good water pressure and the towels were soft and huge. On the property there is so much to do. You can start your morning with a hot cup of coffee from the coffee cafe and rent a motorized mountain bike to explore the trails. Later in the day you can play a round of golf, take a dip in the indoor or outdoor pool, soak in the hot tub or have a massage or facial at the on property spa. For kids there is an arcade and an indoor water park. Then for the adventurers there is ziplining or taking a ride up the mountain on the ski lift. The view from the top is simply breath taking. Late night is a great time to grab a cocktail and enjoy a bonfire. And of course in the winter you can ski! read more

We stay at Boyne Mountain Resort every year because there aren't a lot of better options. We love the ski-in, ski-out convenience and the amenities the resort has. But, they ran out of ski equipment! How can a ski resort run out of rental equipment? They told us we can drive to Boyne Higlands to rent them. THEY SHOULD GRAB THE EQUIPMENT RENTAL AND BRING IT TO THEIR RESORT. Not have their guests drive for an hour and back. Our room phone does not work, and there was no room service. A little disappointing considering the money you're spending. Edit: checking-out and there were zero carts!! We waited so long for carts that we decided to just start carrying equipment to our car. We had to make 4 trips back and forth to our rooms, not to mention only 2 very busy elevators! read more

Full disclosure: We did not stay at the resort or spend a significant amount of time there, so I don't know if I'd be willing to go 4 stars, but my guess is that I probably would. As a scouting mission (which it turned in to) I'd be eager to come back and find out. We simply went because we were up north and I wasn't sure if this was the place my girlfriend rode down the hill on (it wasn't). This is about as alpine a place gets in Michigan. The mountain isn't a mountain, it's a hill. but it is bigger than it really looks (surprisingly and especially once you get to the top). All the buildings lend to that alpine appeal, very European. Walking around and just soaking it in was great. It was busy including the buffet breakfast in the lodge that has a nice restaurant and bar, coffee shop, outdoor coney island roach coach, little ice cream stand...it's great. We got tickets to ride the chairlift but not walk the bridge, which is what everyone else was doing, but the ride up was smooth and fast and I got fantastic pictures from there. They have a bar & grill on top of the mountain but it wasn't open...it was early. The bridge is impressive but it was crowded and didn't really look all that fun to me. It doesn't really go anywhere but I have no real opinion about it. Just being on top of the mountain was enough for me. So I give it 3 stars just because it was an enjoyable visit but I don't know how it pans out as a full stay. Definitely check it out! read more

I spent labor day weekend here with my family. My check in was effortless and we were able to get our room 2 hours before check in time. The woman that check us in was so welcoming and friendly we were walking to our room super excited about the energy of this place. We selected to stay in the Mountain Lodge (main lodge). We got the three queen 1 bedroom option which means it's two rooms, 1 that has 2 queen beds,TV, balcony, separate bathroom, and half kitchen setup. (Microwave, fridge, sink, coffee machine -tea and coffee available, salt and pepper, alcohol wipes), the other room has almost the same things minus a bed and balcony but with an added fireplace and sofa bed. Overall rooms were surprisingly spacious. I loved the view of the mountain from our room. There was also a little pond right across us. The TVs are not smart TVs. The beds were comfortable and extra linens were included for the sofa bed if needed. 3 robes were placed in our closets and plenty of towels and soaps for our short stay. First thing we did after settling in was check out the adventure center for the golf cart rental so we can explore the property to get a good idea of where everything is. Unfortunately the golf carts were not available and there was already a long waiting list. We opted for the chair lift which ended up being super cool! Especially if you've never been on one before. The view was amazing and the property was pretty impressive from up there. We were pleased to know that the ride up ends so that you're able to stop and snap a few photos before you head back down. We did some exploring and found bike rentals were $15 for kids and $25 for adult. Lots of bike trails. We did that for a while. We got pizza at the Trophy room, the server was nice but the pizza was a little bland. Plus 2 large pizzas cost us almost $70. We did add breakfast to our bundle when booking and that was the best decision ever. You order your eggs or pancake however you like them at the counter then make your way to the buffet for extra stuff (baked goods, oatmeal, potatoes, waffles, fruit, etc. Server brings drinks. You can get coffee to go as well. The very best part of our stay was the zip lining adventure tour. If you're staying and able, do not miss up on this! It's something you must reserve and pay for in advance. The guys that took us through the 10 fun zip lines were so much fun!! 10/10! This is the most memorable experience of our trip! Make sure to wear closed toe shoes, something you can hike in! These guys really deserve some recognition for their hard work in keeping us safe and their energy was consistent throughout the whole experience! We also got to participate in the smores activity around the bonfire and watch a movie outside on a popup theater. The arcade could have been fun but alot of the machines were down but hopefully next time we can enjoy more of it. Avalanche bay was a good time as well. Make sure to check for passes online. One of the water slides was shut down, otherwise everything else was open. Love that they have family restrooms and a snack shack so you dont have to leave if you need a bite or drink. The only downfall here is that it's not connected to the lodge so you do have to step outside to get to the entrance for the waterpark. Come prepared especially in the cooler months! There were so many things we didn't get to do: fishing, kayaking, tennis, golf, golf cart rental, segways tour, etc. There's alot to come back to! I look forward to my return here! Great Michigan hill. New lifts, friendly staff and tasty expensive food. The only issue is it is so popular you can't get a table, a stool or a spot to stand in the bars and restaurants. I like this place but they need to add a couple more restaurants/bars. read more
