**Disclaimer: this review is based off self-guided tour for wedding & winery** Came here on a Saturday afternoon (which we scheduled) for a self-guided tour. We were so amazed during our private zoom tour that we couldn't go any longer without seeing it in person. It tooks us about a half hour to tour the entire grounds...or at least until we found the enchanted forest (you heard me correctly). During the tour, we made a few passes through the winery and couldn't help but finally stop and have a tasting. They were exquisite wines and ciders. We only tried the whites and 1 cider because they ran out. I would highly recommend doing a tasting when they first open so you can try all options. We sprung for the $20 flight (5 options; 3oz pours) and split it between the 2 of us. They also have a small food menu that I'll be taking part in next time. Cute souvenirs are available also!

After having visited the area many times this was on our list as a fun venue to check out, and this trip we had great weather and a free day so we headed toward the castle. The directions are easy to follow and upon arriving the huge parking lot has good directions of where to park and how to proceed to the main entrance. A friendly lady greeted us and we chose to pay $15 for an adult self-guided tour which we felt was reasonable for the size of the castle. They gave us a self-guided tour sheet with tons of directions and explanation. There are wonderful narrated movies along the way whee you can hear Linda the current owner tell about the castle, the various rooms and the gardens. We wandered for at least an hour and had some amazing points that kept us entertained with all the collections and antiques stores in various places around the castle. We loved how they had renovated and given the castle a renewed life as a wedding and event venue, as well as giving visitors the opportunity to explore. Definitely worth an afternoon visit!

Beautiful place! Took a great tour, very interesting. Beautiful flowers! The train garden was pretty cool also!

I got this beautiful dragon statue for only $12!

It's a really beautiful place, with amazing flower gardens and gorgeous scenery. If you like history this is the place for you! You can take a self-guided tour and experience it at your own pace, or you can take a guided tour and learn more about the castle's history. It even has a fun scavenger hunt for your children! Finally, before you go make sure to check out their gift shop. It is quite big and has good merchandise for a great price!

My daughter had here wedding at Castle Farms this past weekend. The experience was beyond our expectations. The grounds were beautiful, the wedding coordinator was helpful, and they work with many good quality experienced vendors. We loved that there were things to do and see for the guests on the property. About the only thing I can say to improve is to have the trains running after the ceremony so guests could enjoy them.

After reading the reviews & really wanting to go somewhere different, I decided to go to Castle Farms. So glad I did! I think it's a little overpriced for admission to a place where you walk around on your own (although you get $1 off with AAA), but still, it was so interesting. I spent 3 hours wandering around! They take a lot of pride in their trains, and while the actual trains are cool, the toys on wheels are kind of silly. But I did like how you could walk through the whole area; it kind of reminded me of the trains on MisterRogers' Neighborhood from when I was little. The duck pond was rather entertaining; those ducks are definitely used to being fed, as they followed me wherever I went -- until a worker drove up and they all immediately swam to the end of the pond & got out! It was rather amusing. The woman in the office/gift shop area was very nice, and I felt like I was having an actual conversation with her -- until I heard her say the exact same thing, word for word, to other people as they walked in. But, at least she has it down well enough to not sound rehearsed. It really did feel like a castle, although it never really was. But they play up that aspect of it with the Enchanted Forest, which is just a little wooded area where they've scattered little gnomes and so forth. And if you have a fairy garden & are looking to add to it, their gift shop has a pretty good selection of accessories at decent prices.

A must see in Michigan! Fun activity for kids, family friendly. Interesting history and the #1 spot for weddings!! We visited on a dreary day and it was still worth it.

I always been fascinated with Castles and Castle Farms is one of the most amazing castles that I've seen. I rode on the tram with G (driver), really considerate type of guy. I liked how he sanitized the whole tram before the ride, and he drove at a good pace so we could take pics on the tour. Castle Farms welcome center was ran by two fine women who were very helpful and courteous. I found out today that they host weddings too. What I enjoyed the most was photographing all of the hot spots!

Is there enough to do here for a 4 year old? Worth the trip?

Hi Melissa, great question! There is plenty to do for a 4 year old at the Castle. We have Michigan's largest outdoor model railroad with a hedge maze and play area for kids. There is a large pond where you can feed duck and fish, plus you can… Read more

Family holiday, with our 2 kids, stayed three nights 9/14-9/16/20. $239/night. First day, raised complaint that the kitchen came with cooking pots and pans that were caked in old eggs. We ate out instead. Second night, we discover our door to the room had a malfunctioning locking mechanism, thus the room door literally could not be locked. Meaning, night 1 we slept with an unlocked hotel door. Night two, once discovered, I barricaded at night for peace of mind. Sure, it's Northern Michigan - but still. They fixed it our last day - to their position, they were (I presume) unaware they provide us a room without a properly locking door. Hotel doors that lock..a cleaned kitchen - basics. Yes? Minimal expectations for a Inn at any price. I am a business owner myself and felt/feel that this type of experience must be handled professionally - even if unintentional. I would refund the stay if I gave a damn about consumer experience. At least 50% back the nights they slept without a locking door in the room? Buy them a meal for the gross pans in their kitchen? They reluctantly offered us $100 (I paid $800) and 10% off our NEXT stay after I asked if they were doing anything for us. Next stay? ‍ Customer service is dead! And that's coming from a millennial likely speaking of an elder. I requested the owner reconsider our experience, gave him 30 days, to see if he was willing to take better care of us. Bonus features: they told me we had a room with a great balcony when I reserved it, was literally bars over a window - so wife and I had no balcony when kids were asleep as we had hoped for..asked for, the WiFi was shotty, there were several power outages, gym closed despite gyms open lumpy bed, construction next door, sauna down, and the staff wasn't masked up despite signage requiring guests to be. They don't want non members to golf there, they just want your money. We were golfing a 9 hole scramble with a group of 4 and a group of 3. The course staff told us to tee off the back 9, but be aware of some twosomes coming up behind us (obviously not a problem). They did not catch us until the 8th hole, and we let them pass. The course martial came out on a golf cart after the 8th hole and told us that we were "making this very difficult for him" and that "he will be having to deal with calls from members complaining about this". We competed 9 holes in 2 hours so by no means were we going slow. We get back to the clubhouse and the golf manager came out to tell us that we are not welcome back. They want one time golf fees from non members, but do not want us to actually golf there. The reality is they can't stay open if they don't keep it open to non members, but will complain about them instead the entire time they are golfing. We won't be back. If you are looking for a good place to golf, I recommend going to Crooked Tree, or another Boyne owned course. The courses are better and the staff is much friendlier.
