My (now) husband and I held our wedding at the HideOut in October of 2020. We took advantage of the weekday package and couldn't be happier with our choice. The venue is hands down the most gorgeous we had ever seen. We spent a lot of time shopping around for a place to get married near Tahoe and this one takes the cake. It blew us away when we visited in 2019 for the Open House. The main lodge is exceptional, so much space and cozy, beautifully decorated rooms. The deck is absolutely priceless and don't get us started on the 30 person jacuzzi! The saloon was also very nice and accommodated many of our guests. The scenery is something out of a fairy tale. The reception hall/barn was huge, well lit, warm, and surpassed our wants and needs. The Hoovers are exceptional people, Josh especially. He went above and beyond for us our entire stay and exceeded our expectations. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful, picturesque wedding. I would recommend this venue to anyone who is looking to getting married in a beautiful, outdoor, secluded location. We love this venue more than words can describe. I would go back just to visit and relive some of the incredible memories we made there. We truly could not have asked for more. It was a dream come true. -The Smiths

The Hideout is everything you could want and more! The family that owns it puts their whole hearts into making sure your day and time there goes without a hinge and their passion for their property shows in every detail. As a photographer this was a dream wedding venue to shoot at with the huge beautiful log cabin to the pine tree reflecting lake and the quaint green ceremony spot. Truly a dream!!

Both my DJ/MC/VJ and mobile bartending services have had the chance to work at this location. If you're looking for a getaway, private, beautifully scenic, relaxed place to have your wedding or corporate gathering here you go. I believe they rent in 3 or 4 day increments so be prepared for a few days of nature and privacy.

In another lifetime I was a destination wedding photographer shooting locations from Northern California down through the Pacific Coast of Mexico. Out of all the amazing places I've shot or have attended weddings at over the years the HideOut has to be at the very top. Wow. Imagine the incredible rugged beauty of the California Sierras with an amazing event venue built right in the middle of it all - in the middle of nowhere. It's the perfect stage to create your own personal mountain fairy tale. Did I mention the 20+ person hot tub carved out of the granite overlooking the small lake adjacent the main wedding party cabin? ...Just a small detail among many. And the owners are super down to earth folks as well. [photos here from September 2017]

The Hideout is so beautiful. We got married their late June 2022. I loved renting it out for more than a day. We had an informal party the night before with people in the giant hot tub, taking the boats out for a ride on the lake, and playing pool in the Saloon. The venue was absolutely beautiful. Between the trees, the wildflowers, the lake, the giant arch, and the rustic barn, it was so easy to find a good photo opportunity. And there was cornhole and giant jenga for the party goers who weren't into dancing. I loved it!

Gosh, what can I say about The Hideout that hasn't already been said? This was the most amazing wedding venue that my husband and I could have asked for. We saw it on their website and booked their last available wedding weekend for 2017 sight unseen! I managed to see the location under 20 feet of snow in February and I was still in love. When I got to see it in person for their open house in July, I was IN LOVE. If you like open air, pine trees, huge granite boulders, log cabins, and antique old world charm - this place is for you. Plus if you like having venue owners who really care about their clients and are on site for any issue during your stay - you'll love The Hideout. Here's just a few tidbits: - 40 person granite hot tub - stocked lake for fishing and canoeing - 5 bedroom log cabin with individual bathrooms and fireplaces in every room - Dine in kitchen - Huge dining table - Amazing bridal/master suite with great views - Separate saloon with wifi - Camping onsite with heated showers! We definitely want to come back for our 10 year anniversary. Thanks Tom, BJ, Dusty, Josh & Isa!

Just got back from our magical wedding weekend! I literally got chills coming over the hill to our special oasis. Our immediately family stayed in the main lodge, we had plenty of space to spread out and enjoy it all, some in the hot tub, some hiking to the swimming holes, shooting guns, and making memories for a lifetime. I had the best weekend of my life. BJ/Tome/Dusty and the rest of the family were so helpful, hard working and made the weekend perfect. They are around to help when needed but give you space to enjoy the property. Hands down best venue out there to celebrate a marriage!! Thanks Hoover family for all your hard work and making our dream weekend reality.

OUR DREAM WEDDING VENUE! BJ, Tom, Josh and the rest of The HideOut team made our wedding celebration the ultimate fairy tale. When my husband and I were searching for wedding venues we happen to stumble upon The HideOut just as a referral from a friend. We were looking for something in the South Lake Tahoe area and we last minute decided to check out the property on our way out of town. WE WERE BLOWN AWAY. From the journey through the woods, over Pucker Butt Hill, it opens up to this incredible clearing that it the oasis of The HideOut. It felt like an adventurer's adult Disneyland. After exploring the property, we knew in our hearts that our wedding had to be here. We decided to have a Tuesday wedding, and it worked out great for us! It was in our budget and our guests (mostly traveling from out of state and southern Cali) were able to make a longer vacation out of the trip by exploring the rest of the Kirkwood and Lake Tahoe area the weekend prior to the wedding. The whole HideOut family had the best vibes from the very beginning. They are real, down to earth, personable people that truly love what they do, and will do everything in their power to make sure you are as happy and satisfied with the whole process as possible. Having a wedding at The HideOut gives you the freedom to create exactly what you envision for your wedding day. It creates an environment where you are able to be surrounded by your closest family and friends without distractions from whatever is going outside. It is the ultimate LIVE IN THE MOMENT venue that you could ever choose. My husband and I have already discussed renting it out again for future vacations, vow renewals, and whatever other excuses we have to live in this little piece of Heaven again. Thank you HideOut Family! We will see you soon!

I went to a wedding here last weekend and it is a beautiful location. It really is a gorgeous setting. However, I wasn't prepared for it to be quite so... rustic. We turn off the highway and immediately see a huge, plywood spray painted sign that says "4 WHEEL DRIVE ONLY." Ummm, didn't know that! Neither did the Prius in front of us. Driving along the "driveway" is like driving in a Land Rover commercial. We're talking unpaved, ungraveled, unleveled, praying you don't meet someone coming the other direction one lane, rocky mountain terrain here. We're talking there are 3 small ponds you have no choice but to drive through, yes, I do mean the kind where water splashes up past your car windows. (The Prius came to a stop and shut down in the pond.) Then, finally, when you think "surely the end is near," you reach the one section of paved road where the hill is so steep, it puts every hill in San Francisco to shame. So, are we there yet? Nope! We have to drive through another small pond to park our car... in the grassy meadow. As soon as my feet touched the ground, I was seriously wishing I'd worn hiking boots, instead of heels. Is there a bridge across the parking meadow? You know, one of those stable things with rails for you to hold onto? Nope. They do have some wooden planks for you to walk across. Is there some sort of trail, or path cleared to the ceremony area? Not really. Do yourself a favor ladies, do not wear open-toed shoes. Definitely do not wear stilettos, as you will be sinking into the ground with each step. Even if you are wearing flat sandals, your feet will be touching the ground, and they will get dirty. Here are three more hot tips I wish I'd known in advance. 1) Unless you want to be in the sun, bring your own parasol or umbrella. There is no place to sit in the shade. 2) Bring bug spray. In addition to fighting mosquitoes, there were bugs on the log benches that were biting people, including myself. 3) Bring a flashlight. If you wait until dark to get back to your car... good luck not spraining your ankle in the process. 4) Time your departure with another vehicle. You will not have cell phone reception. If your car gets stuck, and there is not another car, you will have to make your way back to the cabin to get help. Ultimately, it was a beautiful location, but if they're not going to pave the driveway, they should put a warning on their website.

Ask the Community - The HideOut

How many people can stay on the lodge? Can people camp on site?

The camping area is a huge grassy area that includes a shower room. I think at least 59 people could camp there. There are 7ish rooms at the lodge. The rooms are big, so a family could be in a room with the kids sleeping in the floor.

The view at the home is absolutely breathtaking and the hot tub perfectly overlooks the lake and mountains. All of the stunning views and scenery gave for some pretty epic and gorgeous photos to capture our big day. Josh and Blue Sky Events worked together to make everything run seamlessly the day of our wedding; even when the heater broke on the tent during the rehearsal dinner and the caterer's generator died before our food could be made the day of the wedding. Josh was there doing everything in his power to make things work and make our day great. He was clear on what rules needed to be minded and checked in with us throughout the weekend to make sure we had what we needed. He was always making sure everyone was having a good time and was a great person to hang out with too. Most wedding venues in Lake Tahoe make you use their caterers, don't let you do unique things like bring a late night munchie food truck or anything outside of their own packages and for some people that's great but for us, we wanted flexibility and Fjeldheim allowed that for us so we could have a day that was perfectly us.

If you're looking to spend a lovely couple of days in Lake Tahoe and need a place to stay, this is the place for you! Talk about paradise; look no further. Tahoe Mountain Home is a 9,000 square foot private vacation home that can house 30+ people easily. Sitting high above the lake, this property offers awesome views overlooking the lake. I recently came over the weekend with a group of friends and was able to discover all that this property has to offer. The house offered over eight bedrooms and sleeping for the entire guest, all the rooms come with their own name; honestly, I felt like I was in a mansion! My mouth dropped as I drove up the one-way hill to get to the house, the place is HUGE! There were different access ways to the entrance, a fabulous hot tub in the back of the house that fits 4-5 people comfortably and a big parking lot that fits over 10 cars easily. This place is exceptional! The house is located 5-10 minutes from all of the fun entertainment including the casinos, restaurants, and bars and lounges. We took Uber every night and didn't have an issue at all. Now, on to the BEST part, it was SNOWING the WHOLE.WEEKEND. I have yet to experience snow before, so this was not only fun for me but exciting! Now, driving in the snow was not exciting at all, trust me, but playing in it was FUN. On the last night of our stay, we received emails and news reports that there was a blizzard coming and that we may be snowed in. Okay, I became scared once I received the news, but that quickly changed when we had the housing manager come over. Josh is the 'housing manager' and the night I became very anxious about the snowstorm, he came over with his lovely dog and informed our group that we were going to be Okay. He discussed the weather and even asked all of us for our car keys while he plowed the driveway so we can leave much easier to leave for the next-day departure. Can you believe that he moved all 10 cars and plowed the driveway all by himself? OMG, bless his heart! After Josh left, my group advised me that Josh is a wonderful guy that comes throughout our visit to check in with us. I was so touched by the personal touch. This property, as well as Josh, deserves MORE than 5 stars! Yelp, we really have to work on expanding the 5 stars (emoji: smiles). I definitely would recommend staying at this property. I look forward to my next stay. Thank you, Josh, for your amazing hospitality during our stay!

Shout out to Renee as one of the Vendors too, she was handsdown one of the best decisions we made regarding the wedding. You will regret not booking her for your wedding/event. This was truly a memorable day and a huge reason for this was the people involved and the location. We didn't have to worry about random people showing up to our intimate wedding like I've seen happen at other venues. It was spacious enough to for a large wedding party without sacrificing comfort, we loved that we felt tucked away into nature while still having "city accommodations". And I must add, the view from the casita is unmatched. Best view on the property. I loved that it served as my bridal suite! I can't say enough about Airola Vineyards. Truly, our wedding was just enchanting. While our guests were originally skeptical about the location (many had to drive 8+ hours) once they arrived they all thanked us for the invitation because it meant they were in such a beautiful location. I'm surprised this place isn't better known and while I want to be selfish and not the let the secret out, I would be doing humanity a disservice if I didn't shout Airola Vineyards' (and it's staff) exceptionalism from the roof tops. The management didn't know the size of the tables available at this location, and at our rehearsal the day before our wedding, we were told that we had to redo our whole seating chart because the tables were actually smaller than we knew. The food was brought up all the way from Sacramento in a U-haul truck, which was visible to the ceremony site during the ceremony. Half of our guests got sick afterwards. We spent $500 on liquor and sodas for people who didn't care for our pre-fabricated signature drinks (old fashioned's and French 75's) but the venue provided bartender never even touched those supplies. Instead, he opened up all of our red wine bottles at once, giving no thought for guest demand. We had to throw out half of the untouched wine bottles at the end of the night. Our guests had ZERO idea that there were more drink options. Please save yourselves and get married somewhere else. We are haunted by this experience.

Sue and her team at Sierra Banquet Center are fantastic!…read more We had my dads retirement celebration at Sierra Banquet Center just after the new year and it was such a fun evening! I had a few ideas of how I wanted the night to go and Sue helped to make that possible at her gorgeous log cabin venue. I had quite a few things to set up and Sue allowed us in early to take care of the setup so we weren't rushing and stressed right before the event. The holiday decor was transformed from Christmas trees to classy and elegant whites and golds for my event colors/theme. Everything was beautiful and the tri-tip buffet was delicious!! I would love to have another event at the Sierra Banquet Center! Thank you Sue (and your team) for all that you did to make my dads celebration so memorable!
