Yikes, this places has A LOT of hate! Yelp fam, y'all are cold blooded! I came here about two weeks…read moreago (the day before I went to the concert at Dickie's Arena). Getting to this venue isn't difficult but what is difficult is getting IN to the venue. Specifically, I had VIP parking but I still had to wait in a single lane to get into the parking lot for more more than 30 minutes. I literally missed the beginning of the show I was supposed to see because I was sitting in my car waiting for the police to direct the one lane of traffic to the general parking lot vs the venue parking lot. Once inside the venue, concert/event goers will see different lines for VIP check-in vs. regular check-in. As I was late to this concert and was VIP, I didn't necessarily have the same problems as the Yelpers who mentioned overly long waits to get in. Once I was in the venue, I went directly to the VIP suites that are located upstairs. The suite I was in had a bar right next to it, therefore when I requested food or drinks, the waitstafff came quickly as they were within earshot. Unlike others who mentioned long waits for service, I think it largely depends upon what tye of admission you are have (general, standing room vs. suite, vs. lower level seating). This is the first outdoor venue I've been to in Central Texas that has suites. It should also be noted that those who have suits also have thier own VIP bathrooms (not porta-potties). Therefore, my opinion of the seating, bathrooms and view of the event is probably slanted because of the type of access I had. *Here's a tip, if you have a membership to the golf course next door, you can sit and listen to the music for free* Once outside the suite, the general merchandise area and event merchandise area was fairly lackluster. Aside from the stereotypical astronomical prices, this section and selections was generally unimpressive. There appeared to be several food options from Texas Barbecue to Nachos with minimal wait for food offerings. The sound of the event was good but not great. This isn't a deal breaker for me as some of the performers had trouble with their equipment. Also for this event, I went to see Blues Travler and John had COVID so this wasn't the best showing for the group. There was another lead singer reading lyrics from a sheet and as everyone knows that no one can be John other than John Popper. I left this concert early as I wanted to avoid the same issue I had getting into the venue with the traffic. I am not sure based upon this showing that I would return to an event here.

We took the back way into town from Austin which turned out to be a very scenic drive along the ridge tops and also looking down into nearby Canyon Lake. Before we arrived, I was concerned about the arrangements of the performance venue as I had a general admission ticket, which is essentially standing room only. The staff at the facility did a great job of marshaling incoming automobile traffic into the parking areas, and managing the lines. We got through the ID and security checks quickly. There are also plenty of food and drink service points so you don't have to wait long for a beer or chow. While it got a little tiring to stand for the two acts, we were able to easily pick out a great spot to view the stage and did not have any issues seeing or hearing the performance. I would come back here to see other acts in the future. Recommended.

Marina Magic with Minor Flaws…read more The Good: Breakwater delivers where it counts. The marina-side bar seating offers stunning waterfront views and prime people-watching. The fried redfish is exceptional--perfectly golden and flaky. The hush puppies are revelatory, possibly the best you'll find on the planet. Swirly Fries hit that perfect crispy-fluffy balance, and the Buffalo chicken sandwich brings serious flavor. The Not-So-Good: Skip the chicken wings--they're overfried and disappointing. More problematically, the patio fly situation is relentless. Bring your swatting skills or dine indoors. The Verdict: Despite minor kitchen missteps and pest control issues, Breakwater captures that magical combination of great food, killer views, and buzzing atmosphere. The hits far outweigh the misses, making this a marina gem worth visiting. 4/5 Stars - Exceptional waterfront dining with room for improvement.

Everyone around the lake was acting like that lady in the old Black Friday commercial, faces desperately pressed against the window, chanting "Open! Open! Open!" This weekend, our family had the pleasure to finally have a sit down meal at Breakwater Grill, and we enjoyed the experience and food. Hooray! Yes, this is lakeside dining at one of the very few spots with a lake view in this area, so you'll pay a premium for that (hence the 4/5 star rating). That's nothing new for this location. If you're on a tight budget, Breakwater may not be the best option. You *do* get complimentary chips and salsa when you are seated to dine, cash payments get a 3%-ish discount, and there are a few Happy Hour deals (M, W-F 3:30p-6p - $1 off domestic bottled beers, $4 house 'ritas, $3 well drinks, and $4 chips & queso). Otherwise, prices range as follows: cocktails $10-$12, beer $4.50-$7, appetizers $8-$18, sides $5, entrees $14-$17, and desserts $8-$10. We loved our meal and the service was great from hosts to waiter to servers. This was a lazy Sunday with a light crowd of lunchtime diners, so things could be different when the team is under a bit more pressure. We ordered 2 Queso Burgers and 1 Fried Redfish & Shrimp Plate. All came with Breakwater's unique "home style fries" that look like steak fries and kettle chips had a tasty baby; the cut of the potato comes out in a semi-scoop shape, perfect for dipping. The burgers include grilled, fresh jalapenos, which give such awesome flavor. The fried fish and shrimp were cooked perfectly, and as an SETX / Gulf Coast girl, I'm not easy to please. Of course, we couldn't leave without trying the decadent funnel cake fries, a massive serving of crispy donut sticks covered in chocolate sauce, likely enough for at least 6 people. We hardly made a dent in those, but we took the rest home to refresh in the air fryer for a midnight snack. Good to know: - Closed on Tuesdays - Tons of TVs available both indoors and outside for watching the big game - Follow on social media to learn about special events such as live music on the outdoor deck - 2 Tesla EV parking spots available, as well as front row parking for motorcycles, and hitching posts for those on horseback (southside of the bocce court) - They *will* charge you extra for any change to the menu item. For example, my son didn't want the grilled peppers on his $17 Queso burger, so we asked for them "on the side" - our server didn't tell us that would result in a $1.29 upcharge :-(

Our mixologist, Logan (absolutely wonderful human being) not only made us the most delicious pecan praline whiskey cocktail but he also gave use some incredible history on the space & of course the ghosts! The limestone walls are original. Much of the decor adorning the walls was found in the building. Some of the wall hangings include an original bond and doctor prescriptions for whiskey. The furnishings and accessories complement the rooms to enhance the feeling of old-west prohibition. The velvet pieces exemplify burlesque. Total "hitch your horse to a post, mosey on down for a secret drink and a good time" vibes. Logan spun a tale of ghosts appearing in selfies taken by previous guests. The story was sensational and I was all about it. A wonky thing happened with the POS system while we were there that required a reboot. I joked that the ghosts thought I was taking too many pictures. Dark, moody, sexy, and relaxing...everything you want in a speakeasy---& good drinks too, of course. Absolute works of liquid art!
