The Hermosillo has been a staple in the community for years. I've been here a few times in the past. I don't come often because it's beer & wine only, but my friends like it. The food menu is limited and has some tasty options, especially the fries with garlic aioli. The patio is always packed with happy patrons and their pooches. During the day, on the weekends, there tends to be more families with kids, so evenings are more my thing. I grew up in HLP and have enjoyed going to Hermosillo to have a beer. I understand that parents want to do the same. However, some parents are so entitled. This weekend my friends and I were sitting at a table with 2 umbrellas covering us from the sun. The umbrellas were set that way since we got there. We waited around patiently until a table became available. We never attempted to take someone else's umbrella. We simply waited for a desirable spot to open up. A few minutes after we sat down, we had 1 dad show up and attempt to remove one of our umbrellas despite the fact that they were providing shade to our table/group. About an hour later, another dad tries to do the same thing. Then a few minutes later, another mom walks by and states "that table has 2 umbrellas" and tells her husband to get one. So inconsiderate and entitled. To make matters worse, the first dad that had attempted to remove our umbrella had basically "reserved" a whole table, plus an umbrella, by placing a bunch of toys from his children on top of the table with no one sitting on it for more than 1 hour. So imagine walking into a bar and seeing a whole table reserved with toys all over it. So, it's ok to take an umbrella from other people that are actually using them, but not have a problem with people hogging tables and umbrellas with toys? I find it interesting that out of all the people these 3 parents attempted to remove an umbrella from, they specifically targeted our table. Besides that, the beer and food is solid. I honestly enjoy this spot but I hope they can get this situation under control. It's basically turning into a Chuck E. Insane experience last night. Brought my dog to meet a friend for a drink and dinner. The outdoor seating area was completely dominated with toddlers screaming and running around. As I walked in there was a literal swarm of kids blocking the entrance who tried to grab my dog as I walked through them. When I said "hey, don't grab dogs" a man who I guess was a dad scoffed at me that "they don't know any better". My friend and I had to move tables twice to get away from the kids. We found a spot in the back and while we were eating and trying to hold a conversation over the children's screams, while my dog was chewing on her bully stick, 2 kids jumped over her and tripped on her, then fell on me. Some people next to us pointed to the completely oblivious parents who I approached to tell them what happened and to keep their kids away from us. Their aloof response? "They're only four." Cool, lady. Have another drink and continue ignoring your obnoxious kids. The only saving grace was a nice server who came over and apologized for the disturbance. I don't know when this bar turned into a playground for children of rich drunk yuppie parents, but it was bewildering to witness and one of the most insane bar experiences I've ever had. I've been coming here for years but I think I'll find somewhere where entitled moms and dads who can't find babysitters, or their basic parental responsibilities, stay away. read more

Local hang out tap room that has the feel of friends you see every week. Most people dine in the patio outdoors because it is an hipster environment that is welcome for everyone including kids. Individual tables and bar stool exterior with pretty lights. Hermosillo claims to have debut 2012 but has a 50 year old feel to it. Staff is very friendly and helpful but this place does get super busy on weekends. Parking is free on the streets which some are metered and some are free. Be prepared to circle around many times or walk far because this entire block is busy. Now the tasty consumption. Smash burger and extra crispy fries is a must. Quality is great for around $6-$8. Beers which they have a large selection is around the $6-$8 too. Fried pickles is a must try. Overall it is like a happy hour pricing all the time. A long time stalwart in the Los Angeles craft beer community located in the busy part of Highland Park. There's a limited food menu and a great beer menu at any given time that features local and somewhat local micro breweries. The building itself has been around a while and gone through renovation(s), but the bones are good. Over the years, I've been hear a bunch of times with either just grabbing some beers with friends or going to craft beer events hosted by a friend of mine who also happens to be friends with the folks here. Most recently I attended a craft beer event in an allocated area in the back where we got to open up our bottles as well as having some special beers available to us on tap. As a Highland Park resident of 35 years, I'm regretfully sharing a disturbing event I witnessed at this establishment. On 12/7/25 at around 1:00 PM, I visited this bar and encountered what felt like blatant discriminatory service from the bartender. The bartender -- a thin, young Caucasian man, about 5'10" with a balding appearance -- refused to acknowledge or serve me despite the bar being nearly empty (only 2 other customers drinking from glasses of wine in a conversation with said bartender). I stood by patiently. Two customers arrived after me,stood beside me and were immediately approached by the bartender. They told him they weren't ready, and since they were standing right next to me, I politely stated, "I'm ready -- I've been ready here." He continued to ignore me&avoid eye contact with me despite standing just a few steps away. Even the customers pointed out to him, "Oh, she's ready," he ignored them as well and repeated, while maintaining eye contact only with them, "Are YOU ready to order? -- and YOU?" (Looking at the second person in their party). The customers awkwardly placed their order, then turned to me and joked, "What'd you do -- piss him off?" implying this behavior wasn't surprising to them. I replied, "Sure seems like it," even though I had never interacted with this bartender before and had no idea why I was being treated this way. After being ignored yet again, I left. The deliberate and sustained neglect felt targeted and racially motivated, creating an environment that was deeply unwelcoming. The experience carried a painful, outdated sense of exclusion that I never expected to encounter in my own community. It is disheartening to see this kind of behavior in a neighborhood as diverse as Highland Park. No establishment should make customers feel marginalized or unwelcome. I strongly urge both the public and management to take this issue seriously and address what appears to be discriminatory behavior in their service. Please prove me wrong. read more

Been coming to Hermosillo for years and still love the spot itself -- great drinks, solid vibes, and the staff is always on point. But lately, the crowd has seriously changed. It's become overrun with gentrifiers bringing their little kids like it's a playground. No joke, I got yelled at for opening the door -- apparently because a kid was playing with it? Please listen to the reviews speaking about racial discrimination regarding this place because it just happened to me and my significant other as well. There are white bartenders here that display blatant racism to POC. My husband is a Hispanic man and the bartender did not approach him for a very long time, and when he did, he was extremely rude, gave no eye contact, and immediately brushed him off after taking his order. He then continued to converse with other white customers, then closed out my husband's tab and THREW his card across the bar. Insane behavior in this day and age. The bartender let's call him 'Five-foot-something with a fitted cap, facial hair, and delusions of grandeur' vanished as mysteriously as his customer service skills. When my male friend arrived and sat beside me, he was served immediately--and placed the order I'd been trying to give for half an hour.. Say what you want about me, but when I tell you I was never rude, I mean it. I work in service--I know exactly how to communicate with respect and professionalism. Which is why when I politely asked for the check and was met with a glare, the message was crystal clear. Homies here don't value women like the queens they are. The women they've hired work in the kitchen, the ones running food to the table, the ones putting away glasses. Here's the thing: acknowledging a waiting customer costs nothing. "I'll be right with you." "Let me finish this order and I've got you next." "Thanks for your patience, I see you." Eye contact. A nod. Any of these would have been fine. Instead, I was invisible until a man sat down beside me. So let me get this straight: I'm invisible for 30 minutes until a white guy shows up, then suddenly everyone can see and hear me? And when I ask for the check I get GLARED at? In 2025?? The disrespect is truly an Olympic sport at this point. Being a woman of color shouldn't come with a 'wait until a man validates your existence' policy but here we are. Reading through the one-star reviews, I see I'm far from alone. The bartender rolled his eyes and said, "umm okay.." when I asked for a splash of two hazy IPAs I was considering. He (tall, blonde hair, and older) then gave off more bad body language than an angry robot, purposefully helped every other person, and just ruined our experience. I won't be back since the one time I dressed differently I was treated differently. I've been to the Hermosillo many many times and paid many many dollars. They don't set staff or patrons with kids up for success in the way it is laid out. If they don't want kids to potentially be in the path outside the side exit, then they should create some sort of fenced in area OR just not take our money and not allow kids. It causes staff (some are really patient and kind, others aren't) to become really frustrated and make parents feel like they shouldn't be there or like they are constantly doing something wrong for their children being children. Our house burned down last year and there's not a lot of places to feel in community and this could be one of them, but instead staff criticizes families over and over and tonight, literally picked fights. Even when our children were sitting quietly at a table. Either create a space where kids and your staff can safely exist or don't take our money. I'm really sad that I am not going back. So I came here with my friends Friday night, got a beer and we went to sit outrside where there were other people chillin drinking smoking and all that. We were there for about 30 minutes then some dude who I assume works here tells us that we had to leave the patio cause it was "closed". Yet he only went up to us and not the other huge group. They themself was on the patio drinking with a group of women at the patio yet we had to leave apparently. We stayed put as no one else left and then a woman went up to us like an hour later to tell us to leave and again, they only told us. I've lived in Highland Park longer than any of these people here and I am so disgusted how they treated us considering we were minding our own business having a good time. Been coming here for years. Love the beer, food (although please bring back the crinkle fries), ambiance, and staff. But it's no longer the first place I want to go. Especially after last night. After grabbing a drink at the bar and heading outside to find a table I was shocked by the amount of kids. It was insane. It felt like I was in a school lunch room. It's more insane to be in a dive-y bathroom (I have no problem with that) where adult themes are written on all 6 walls and have to hurry up bc toddlers are screaming "I need to pee" A recent review really struck a cord and I'd like share to warn people the impact of having so many untamed kids. We used to love sitting on the patio with our dog. Unfortunately we no longer bring him. We don't bring our dog to a bar bc of children. It's so hard for me to wrap my head around that. Bar=kids. Why? A few months ago we were sitting at a table. Our dog was calmly sitting under the table. Minding his own business. Suddenly a toddler ran under the table and grabbed our dogs tail. Understandably he didn't like that. All we saw was him jump up agitated. A few mins later the kids father came up to us screaming and obviously drunk. Saying our dog bit his kid and had a mark on her arm (skin breakage or blood). We didn't see it happen but sure, ok, I can believe my sleeping dog nipped a kid who grabbed his tail. I would have done the same. The father thought it was our fault. SR, instead of being drunk at a bar not watching your kid, take them to a park and teach them about dogs. The Hermosillo is a good time. I can never remember what I order but I like to get Blonde Ales or Lagers. The beers here are good, can't really go wrong with whatever you pick. I think some of the beers are made from Highland Park Brewery but I haven't been there. They let you sample. They are located on a Main Street that gets quite busy during certain hours, it's not a shopping plaza. If you go down the side streets, you should be able to find street parking, sometimes it's free, sometimes it's paid. If it's really busy, you may have to drive around a bit to find parking. Service is friendly. The inside is very cozy, casual yet modern. It gives me good vibes, I like the interior how there are cacti and string lights. The outside is nice as well. Hmm this bar was cute inside, it's nice and clean so that was cool. The bartender however, seemed quite rude and stand off ish. After a hike my boyfriend and I wanted to grab a beer so we checked this place out as it's down the street from our house, and I don't know....It seemed as though because we weren't dressed nicely, we were tired, the server treated us weirdly. The thing I didn't like was that they charge so much for extra condiments. I ordered a salad it came with 1 little container of ranch. I needed more for the portion of salad that I had. We spend quite a bit of time and as a result, money at the Hermosillo because we are currently living in Highland Park after losing our home in the fires. We didn't go there much but now that we're here, they have a patio that is "kid friendly." I stipulate with quotation marks due to the inconsistency with their approach to kids. On weekends this place is packed with families and generally has a good vibe. Some of the waiters will remind the kids (who, a reminder, are kids) not to run, but it's generally not a big deal. But then every once in a while, one of the servers acts as if the kids there, being kids, are committing some great offense by playing in the outdoor area. Last night, one of the servers who we didn't recognize, had had enough of the kids and let it be known. We had hosted birthday parties, get togethers, gone for drinks with friends but we will no longer go to the Hermosillo. I really like the setup at this place. It's got a nice outdoor area with big tables, and it stays open late. You'll have to find street parking, but it's worth it. They serve typical bar food and have a good selection of beer, wine, and other drinks. It's the perfect spot to hang out for happy hour. read more

The Hermosillo is such a vibe! Sam and the other bartenders are attentive and very personable. I can definitely appreciate a good conversation, great music and strong drinks. We ordered the Simon Busser Malbec and Strataspheric symphony ( Hazy IPA). Both drinks were great! I'm curious to try their orange wine menu during my next visit. They have a unique way of displaying their beer menu, on a old school projector. A wave of nostalgia kicked in when I seen this. The patio area is roomy and great for a large group of people. It would pretty cool if they add a pool table. But aside from that, this bar is great with a laidback vibe. I highly recommend if you want to have a drink or two in the Highland Park area. read more

This is my girlfriend and i's go to bar spot in Highland Park. We've been here multiple times and surprised I haven't written a review yet. Staff here is always very nice and it's always crowded here. It can get very loud in here when it's packed and it will be hard to find seating. I always get my default beer the Heavenly Hefe and my girlfriend gets the Sonrisa. This is my first time ordering food and was surprised to see a vegan hot dog on the menu. I also ordered a side of fries. Food was good and came out at a reasonable time. Will definitely order again when I get the munchies while drinking. There's a men and women restroom. This is a fun bar in a great stretch of the Highland Park neighborhood. Street parking can be hard to come by, but there is a paid lot not too far away and it's free after 9. The spot is incredibly spacious, even on a Saturday night we had no issue entertaining an entire birthday party's worth of people. The staff were all incredibly kind and attentive. A happy place for parents who have toddlers and like to drink while their kids run amok

We were meeting some friends here for drinks. I read on the reviews that someone who had asked for a non alcoholic drink was previously berated by the owner for being at a bar and asking. I am pregnant, so this was a little scary for me. But that was a while ago and there are actually non-alcoholic items on the menu, which was nice. They had flavored soda, which I had, then got a non alcoholic beer. We also ordered the french fries and the fried pickles, which were good. Overall a cool bar but they kept the front door open and it was cold! Other than that - found parking easily and the service was friendly. read more
