I'm not too sure about this pub anymore; it used to be somewhere I went when I was first of the…read morelegal age to drink, but now, I feel a little unwelcomed by the clicky clientele, who all see to know each other. If you can find a seat in the smaller back room, its much better, more relaxed and out of the way of everybody else. Also, you don't have to queue up for a drink for ages in the main room, because there's a small bar in the other room too. Apart from the punters, the pub itself isn't especially different or unusual inside or out. It's pretty standard to most other pubs, and I only really use the joint if I'm just after one pint, or if I'm shopping locally. There are also two outdoor areas, which are great to utilise in the summer if you're with a lot of friends/family. These areas are probably the best thing about the pub.

I've never been a fan of the Coventry Road. That might sound like a bit of a weird thing to say,…read morebut it does have a grey and depressing feel to it. First off it is large and overcrowded, yet another victim of 50's concrete modernism. Second, the Small Heath end is full of brothels. The biggest problem I have with the Coventry Road is I used to get the bus back from St. Andrews football ground and I always remember being depressed because our team had lost. This pub is right in the middle of the road I so detest and it has a very moody feel to it. If you are a local, you are likely to be accepted into its arms. If you are not, then I'd think twice about drinking here on a Friday or Saturday night.
