My Husband and I decided to take a short trip to Downtown Stuart. We contacted Old Colorado Inn,…read moreinquiring about the accommodations. There are rooms, suites and rentals (houses and cottages). This is a well maintained property compound. The staff was very helpful and answered all of my questions (and there we plenty of questions)! We selected the Oasis cottage (ground floor /1000 square feet) which met our needs and mobility challenges. There is ramp access if needed and just a few steps to navigate. We could easily drive or walk to the downtown area. The cottage was clean and cozy, a stress free setting. The kitchen was well stocked with glassware, dinnerware, kitchen appliances and cooking essentials. The cottage was easy to move around in and felt comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and the shower had awesome water pressure. I liked that alot!! There was a separate outdoor seating area overlooking the pool which was quite lovely and relaxing. The customer service was the best at check-in, Marcia, and at check-out, Paula. Thanks to them, my stay was perfectly unforgettable, and I look forward to returning. The room they gave us was super spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is included and it is really worth it since the people who serve you are excellent hosts. It's not that this is a super swanky property (it's not), but it's a perfectly acceptable hotel that's clean and comfortable, if drab and dated. This is a very basic Hampton Inn that's starting to feel a little tired around the edges. The rooms and overall property are definitely due for a renovation soon, especially when weekend rates are pushing close to $285 a night for a standard King room. That price feels ambitious for what you're getting here, and it's mind-boggling that this hotel regularly commands rates in the $200 to $300 range. The hotel does check a lot of practical boxes. It's located right on a busy main road with tons of restaurants, stores, and chain conveniences nearby. I wouldn't exactly describe the area as quaint or charming, but it felt safe, relatively quiet at night, and easy to navigate. Parking was plentiful, free, and well-lit, which I always appreciate. The staff was friendly enough, but I barely interacted with anyone because the Hilton app made everything super easy. I used digital check-in, skipped the front desk completely, and unlocked my room by holding my phone up to the door without the need for a plastic key. Very convenient. The room itself was dated but clean. The AC worked beautifully, which is a necessity in Florida! I had it ice cold in there, so much so that I had to get a blanket. The layout of our room was a little odd, but very spacious. I like Hampton Inns because there's always a handy mini fridge and microwave in the room, which always make a hotel stay easier. Amenities are standard. There's a mediocre free hot breakfast, free WiFi, and an outdoor pool. Nothing fancy, but functional. This Hampton Inn is not stylish, not exciting, and maybe overdue for some upgrades, but it's friendly and comfortable.

The location is good to the interstate (it's a couple miles to get to the downtown Stuart area). About a mile down the road is a CVS type store, a Publix and couple other stores. Farther down on US1 is a Walmart and the downtown area. The young woman who checked me in was very nice and pleasant. When I stayed this time, I got a AAA rate that included breakfast for 2 at the Bistro in the lobby (it's also a Starbucks). I have to say, the breakfast was really delicious. I had some eggs over medium (perfectly cooked) with toast and really good potatoes (I'm a vegetarian, so I left off the meat that comes with it). The food came out hot and was so good. My friend had the egg sandwich which came with a little side of fruit. The menu says it's 2 scrambled eggs, but it looked more like 5!!! Both breakfasts were plentiful and good. If you have a chance to get the rate that will include the breakfast for only a couple dollars more, I recommend it. My room was the usual, 2 queens. The beds were comfy and the room spacious. The bathroom was spotless, as usual, and there were lots of big, fluffy white towels. There's a very nice area in the back of the hotel with a little covered area that has a fire-pit and a nice pool, and I think a grill. There's nothing behind the hotel, so it's a nice, quiet space. On a nice night, it's very pleasant to sit out there. Also, the lobby area has a business area, as well as several tables you can sit at. This is a very nice hotel and I will keep coming back. If I could complain about one thing, it would be that the hallway and my room had a rather strong smell of cleaning products. It wasn't a bad smell, and some people like flowery cleaning product smells, but I hate it. I don't like smells at all. By the morning, the perfumey smell in the hallway was gone, or I just got used to it. I wish they'd lay off the strong-smelling cleaning stuff. Other than that, great hotel. OH! One more thing - I loved this. There's a big parking lot (parking's free) in front of the hotel, and on the sides. In the front, there are 3 spaces for "Platinum" Marriott members (of which I am one!). I proudly pulled into one of the spots that was reserved for me! We laughed about it - such show-offs parking in the reserved area. But, it was nice that they accommodate those of us loyal Marriott members! It was cute!

The space was perfect for a beach getaway with ocean views and the spacious room to gather when you want and disappear when you want solitude. Perfect on the surface. Unfortunately, I have to say the renovation was "lipstick on a pig." The ceiling in the bathroom was super low. I raised my arm to shave the pit and hit my hand on the ceiling. When I looked up, there was mold growing on the air vent. That got me looking closer to the details of the room. The carpet was frayed, the sofa was sunken in, and there was dust and splattered paint on the windows. Thankfully there was enough to do outside the room, but I can say the resort has good bones even if it's not the best maintained. I would return, but definitely to a room in the main building where more eyes are on the rooms. Kudos for the staff training though.

Formal Complaint Regarding Our Stay - August 28-30, 2026 We…read moregave the hotel location and Barbara Hurley an opportunity to address our concerns and make this situation right. Unfortunately, the response we received was extremely disappointing and was not taken well by us. Based on our recent stay, we experienced repeated disturbances involving individuals who appeared to be severely intoxicated or potentially under the influence of drugs. The circumstances were so concerning that we no longer feel comfortable returning to this property. August 28, 2026 On the first day of our stay, we observed a woman at the pool area who appeared to be drinking heavily. We left the property for dinner and returned later that evening to enjoy the pool. When we returned, the same woman appeared to be severely intoxicated. She was harassing other guests and eventually entered the pool, where she began harassing my wife and me. After approximately 30 minutes, she swam away and attempted to leave the pool. She appeared so impaired that she rolled out of the pool and had difficulty standing and walking. We were genuinely concerned that she was going to fall and seriously injure herself. My wife approached several women nearby whom we believed might have known her, but they explained that they did not know her and said that she had previously been bothering them and attempting to kiss them. My wife then went to the front desk and informed the staff member on duty that there was a severely intoxicated woman in the pool area who appeared to be a danger to herself and was disturbing other guests. We were particularly concerned because she appeared unable to safely care for herself. According to my wife, the front-desk employee stated that she did not want to call the police because the woman was a regular visitor. Ultimately, my wife and another woman helped get the individual back to a room. We found this response extremely concerning. Regardless of whether someone is a regular visitor, guest safety and the safety of other guests should come first. August 29, 2026 The following day was even more disturbing. While we were enjoying the pool, a couple came into the pool area and began arguing. Because we were trying to relax, we moved underneath the covered area to get away from the disturbance. The couple followed and continued arguing, disrupting the other guests who were attempting to enjoy the pool. We eventually left for dinner. When we returned later that evening, the same couple was again in the pool area and appeared to be severely intoxicated or otherwise impaired. The woman approached my wife and me and repeatedly stated that she was in trouble and feared for her life. She then removed much of her clothing and walked around the pool area partially nude. Despite the situation, we did not see the security guard take effective action to address the disturbance or protect the other guests from what was occurring. At that point, we felt extremely uncomfortable and unsafe. In our opinion, the individuals should have been removed from the property and, if appropriate, law enforcement or emergency assistance should have been contacted. August 30, 2026 When checking out, we observed a group of men leaving the property with a woman whom, based solely on our observations, appeared to us to be a prostitute. I want to be clear that I cannot personally verify the identity, occupation, or activities of these individuals. However, combined with everything we experienced during our stay, the situation reinforced our serious concerns about what appeared to be taking place at this property. The repeated incidents involving apparent intoxication, disruptive behavior, possible drug use, inappropriate conduct, and inadequate intervention by hotel personnel have left us with the impression that this property does not provide the safe and comfortable environment that paying guests should reasonably expect. We work hard for our money and should not have to spend our vacation dealing with these types of situations. We will not be returning to this hotel. We are requesting that corporate management conduct a serious investigation into what occurred during our stay, including the response of the front-desk staff and security personnel. We also expect management to review whether appropriate policies and procedures were followed when dealing with severely intoxicated, disruptive, or potentially endangered individuals. We intend to forward this complaint to the corporate office and the Better Business Bureau because we believe these concerns deserve to be formally documented and investigated. We would appreciate a written response addressing each of these incidents and explaining what steps will be taken to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future.
