I found myself in Baltimore and had a hard time locating a wine store nearby. Normally, I buy wine from Trader Joe's, but all of them were too far away. So I searched "wine" on Google and discovered this little shop--it was the closest one, and I loved that it was dedicated entirely to wine. When I arrived, the person working there (possibly the owner) was super helpful. I told him I was planning to have crab cakes for dinner and wanted a wine that would pair well. He wasn't pushy at all--just kind, informative, and easy to talk to. What I appreciated most was the relaxed atmosphere. I felt comfortable taking my time and browsing, and they had a great selection of wines. I ended up choosing a Sauvignon Blanc from France--and honestly, I had never tasted a wine that good before! It was such a pleasant surprise to find a place like this: welcoming and focused on quality. I'll definitely be coming back next time if I'm in the area. read more

The owner (?) is amazing. My friend lives in a nearby apartment and comes to The Happy Grape pretty often. A couple of weeks there while apartment hunting for my new job in DC, and I've made about three trips to the store, where the owner was BEYOND helpful, knowledgeable and hospitable. The prices are a little steeper than a supermarket or chain store, but you're in a dedicated wine shop in the downtown of a major city; that's to be expected. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend The Happy Grape. You'll find anything from cheaper wines to high-end fare, plus organics wines, right in a little store on the corner. read more

Whilst we were in Baltimore for the Raider vs Raven game we needed to find some wine etc This dainty place nestled on the street was just perfect! Upon entering the young gentlemen asked if he could assist is finding anything. He was rather knowledgeable of wine, local beverages and more. The prices are reasonable considering where it's located. Inside you'll find that there is a variety beverages from low to moderate in price. The store was very well organized and clean. Came here to buy some wine to bring onto a cruise ship departing from Baltimore to Bermuda. The guy working there was really knowledgeable on the local craft beers and gave me a suggestion to try the strawberry sour, which I ended up loving. I wish I had more time to also try the local hazy IPA. The wine that I ended up buying to take onto the cruise was good too, but there was nothing particular about the selection that stood out to me. A lot of their wine does come from California (where I'm from) or outside of the country. read more

Found this place while walking around the area from our hotel. They had a decent selection of beer and wine for a small shop. The guy working the register was very helpful and recommended some great local craft brews and a great bottle of wine. The Happy Grape claims that it stands for a singular "happy grape" yet as we can see in their logo, the grape is neither happy nor singular. The grape appears to be ecstatic and is displayed in a bunch. It also includes a leaf and most likely, a stem WHICH IS CLEARLY NOT A GRAPE. I am thoroughly disappointed in this lack of grape representation. You have lied to the public and I am questioning my reality. Please stand by for further inquiries about compensation for my medical bills for newly diagnosed psychosis from your misleading logo. I will not let you hide behind these lies any longer. read more

This place is way over priced. I purchased a 750 mil bottle of Hornitos tequila for a co-workers birthday gift at the last minute. The cost was $44.40 ! I was on my way to work and didn't have time to shop around, but really ? It was my fault, but I will not shop there again, and will steer all of my friends away from there. read more

We were looking for a local liquor store to buy a quick bottle of wine and ended up at this adorable shop on the corner. They had a unique selection (some interesting finds as well as classic finds) of reds and whites (namely my favorite- chardonnay). The clerk was extremely friendly and helpful. The Happy Grape is a couple blocks from my apartment. When a friend was in town we walked to get some adult beverages to celebrate a job offer she had received. The store is pretty small but has beer, wine, and liquor. The selection is on the smaller side but you can find what you're looking for (maybe not your specific brand, but in the same family). However, I will say that I think everything is totally overpriced. But I guess that's what you get for the convenience of it being downtown.
