This place is so unique / we love it. Nothing is fried everything smoked or grilled. Service has always been great. I guess the only negative thing is the secrets out- get there early. We saw Tobey and Novak and it was (and usually is) packed. Outside is so eclectic we love it. Makes you feel like you're in your backyard. Service has always been outstanding and the beer choices are pretty good for AZ (though still looking for that killer juicy hazy ne ipa that I haven't found in az). read more

This place is absolutely beautiful. The ambiance during the day is amazing. I bet at night it's spectacular with all of its different lighting!! The food is delicious and very well prepared and surprisingly reasonably priced! They have a lot of smoked meets on the menu too! The same staff has been here for years and I can see why. They all love the place and are all like family! This is definitely somewhere to bring your out-of-towners or visitors! Or even come for for lunch or dinner, you won't feel alone! They even serve alcohol (but not liquor ) Their variety of different beers and wines is huge. You gotta come on Wine Wednesday where they give away bottles of wine from $10-$17!!! The only bad thing I can say about this place is that they are closed on Sunday and Monday. I could go on and on but you pretty much get the gist of how great this place is!!! (Sorry I didn't take any pics of the food, I wish I did but I was too busy admiring the whole place. I'll get pics of the food next time. I'll definitely be going back soon!) read more

Food portions are big and frankly pretty darn delicious. Outside venue with plenty of shade and a really cool, laidback vibe. Fun place after a ride or for fun with friends. Large beer selection with plenty of craft beers for all tastes. Just a big wine selection too. No liquor here but with all the beer and wine choices who needs that. read more

The Handlebar Pub & Grill - Pulled pork nachos. HUGE! - Pubs Near Me - Apache Junction, Arizona

Arrived yesterday to a partially filled restaurant after the Kentucky Derby party. My 10th wedding anniversary- We just wanted a nice table to listen to the band and have a couple of drinks and dinner. We were "dressed to impress". Snow bird couple ahead of us in shorts and t-shirts given a prime outdoor table- we were given a fire pit "table" right next to the bar- not exactly romantic or conducive to eating a meal. So we left, went to the Hub in Mesa and dropped $100. As locals, we try to give AJ some business but each restaurant will learn a lesson- if you don't treat us kindly we take our business elsewhere. Guess you'll wait until the temps drop again to keep customers. Sad that we had a good experience there years ago but you couldn't accommodate locals looking for a date night location. We don't do chains and enjoy going out. Your loss. See ya! read more

We decided to try the Handlebar Pub and Grill tonight! There was 6 of us and on Valentines Day, we didn't have a reservation. The kind hostess, Doreen, pleasantly worked us in at a cozy table on the patio. It was our first time here, and DEFINITELY won't be our last!! Our server, Alenna, was so sweet and VERY EFFICIENT. She was knowledgeable with their extensive beer and wine menu, as well as the food menu. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that NONE of their food is deep fried!! It's all either smoked or grilled! We started with grilled Brussel sprouts, beets, and smashed potatoes! All very tasty!! I had a good old fashioned pizza burger with grilled asparagus. All of the entrees were delicious and enjoyed by our group! Also, all us girls got a complimentary carnation for Valentines day, along with candy kisses and a free dessert for our birthday girl!! The atmosphere is relaxing and everyone took good care of us!! OUTSTANDING JOB Handlebar crew!! We will see you again soon!! read more

First of all, we didn't realize that they don't have a deep fryer. We were both in the mood for a pub style hamburger and decided to give them a try. Had we known that fries are not available here, we probably would've ordered something else. While the menu looks like it has some awesome food, we found the actual hamburger lacking flavor and the sides an afterthought and had hard pieces of potatoes. The pub itself is fun and the service was okay. I'd just try something more geared to the way they cook next time or just come for drinks. read more

Stopped in after a hike and was soooo surprised and delighted. Outstanding service, super clean, amazing burgers and a beautiful patio. To be truthful when I seen the price of the burger which was over 15 ( w/ side) I was like it better be good. The verdict- one of the best burgers I have ever eaten hands down. Potato salad was excellent too. Did I mention the service was stellar. One of my new favorites for sure! read more

It's kind of a fun place , lots of outdoor kitch , neon , lights in the trees ect , our server a young lady though not overly efficient was quite pleasant and had a good sense of humor , I ordered the green chili burger , medium, I will say it came out perfect , although must have sat for a while before being served because it was pretty much room temp , after waiting an hour for our dinner I was not going to send it back , we also ordered a side Salad which was 99% lettuce , a very unexciting salad , a good beer selection, read more

Great food, patio and music. Servers and hosts are very friendly. Will definitely go again!

Nice place to settle in and have a burger and some wings. Pretty decent beer selection and very easy to find. The service was very nice and the inside was clean. Give these guys a try when you're in town. read more

Upon lunching at The Handlebar recently, I didn't realize that I hadn't reviewed it despite having stopped by many times from 2020-2022. As I told my friend recently, it's just a good locals place in AJ. Back then, a friend and I made it a point to hike as much as possible while the gyms were closed + had occupancy restrictions a few years ago. Most of our hikes were out in/near Lost Dutchman/AJ so our food options were... light. Luckily though the first time we recovered post hike, we had a great server and time at The Handlebar. So we kept coming back and getting her. Cut to present day - didn't see her with my recent post-hike lunch but the good vibes were still there. Apparently since my last visit they've installed a smoker so most/all of their food is smoked. It definitely elevates the meat - both of us loved our burgers. And the smash potatoes... SO GOOD. Don't sleep on this place if you're in the area! read more

Food was excellent. Everyone was super nice. The patio was super comfy and nice and cool with the swamp coolers even during the summer. Will definitely come back. read more

I really wanted to enjoy The Handlebar Pub and Grill and I did, but only for a few reasons. I walked right in and sat down at the bar because that is my comfy place. The service was phenomenal!! Positive vibes all around, especially from the lovely Elena. She had such a beautiful, fun energy; if you were still grumpy after an interaction with this sweet little sprite, then you are the negative Nancy. Sue, our bartender, was spot on with the beer recommendations from their extensive selection. However, the food was disappointing. We ordered the nachos with brisket instead of pork. While the idea sounds like a gastronome's dream come true, it was edible only because I was stoned and hungry. The brisket was dry, and the cheese was unmelted--both key components to successful nachos, and neither was there. Let's move on to the atmosphere. They had a live band, which I was super excited about because I LOVE live music. While I support anyone who can do things that I can't do, like stand in front of a group of people and play an instrument and sing, it was bad. I really wanted to support them, but they were just above Wednesday night karaoke at best--off key, off tempo, just off. So, in a nutshell, go for the AMAZING beer selection and super fun staff. The food, at least the nachos, were mediocre at best, even with the brisket. read more

Great food, friendly staff and fun atmosphere. Thanks for being a solid local business. Definitely a keeper!

Great patio. Poor service, except for drinks. Smoked Acorn squash was half cooked. Inedible. Never asked once how we liked our food. Was it ok? Brussel sprouts were mediocre, not very warm. Order onion and mushrooms on the side of our $17.99 steak. Steak was medium and ok. We ordered medium rare. We had the cheesecake dessert w chocolate syrup. Hersheys. Cheesecake was warm not cold. I think they bought it at Safeway. Our waitress was overwhelmed. Not her fault. I'm not coming back. If you want to drink. Probably a good place. We are not big drinkers. read more

I've recently went vegetarian again due to health and personal reasons, and I was overjoyed when I saw that one of my favorite places has a tofu entree! Great food, drinks and atmosphere. The staff is amazing, they make you feel like family, the live music is great, not too loud but just right. We sat in the patio area and our table had a nice fire in the middle for everyone to enjoy. Prices are reasonable and the food was amazing. I had the pork chops with Brussels sprouts and asparagus. Left me wanting more. Will definitely come back. Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of the food, it was too delicious to stop and take a picture. read more

Who would've known that one of the best burgers I've ever eaten would be somewhere in Apache Junction? While my friends were huge fans of the bruschetta burger, I was drawn to the Peppercorn Aioli burger. We all asked for our burgers to be cooked medium rare and the meat could not be more tender and juicy and flavorful, let alone filling! Nonetheless, my hubs ate his steak and tried to steal some of my burger! Our waitress had the task of handling 10 of us all hangry after hiking in the Superstition Mountains yesterday morning. The patio is very unique. There is putting green grass everywhere. There are a lot of gazebos. There are fire pits and umbrellas galore. It feels like you're at a friend's house grabbing a beer on their patio just catching up together. The beer selection is extensive and carefully chosen. They have local meaderies also on the menu! They only have French fries on certain days which my friends did balk at, but there were plenty of other sides that were a hit. I really enjoyed my blue cheese potato salad. If you order the nachos, be prepared to share because they are huge! read more

I am solely leaving my review based on the hostess that was taking reservations on St. Patrick's Day. Her attitude is why I decided my family would try out a different place. This was my first time visiting Handlebar. We were going to celebrate my FILs birthday which lands on St. Patrick's Day. When we walked up to ask what the wait time would be fully understanding we would be waiting a good 90 minutes there was another customer asking the same and we were next in line to put our names down. Their conversation went as follows: Customer: "What is the wait time?" Hostess: "2 hours" Customer: "Wow, 2 hours? We just wanted to watch them play" (referring to the bagpipes) Hostess: (in the absolute rudest way) "Then stand" That set the tone for the restaurant for me. The hostess is supposed to welcome guests. They're the first person you interact with and so they should be welcoming and have a good attitude. Even when it is St Patrick's Day and it's busy. It's to be expected. If this hostess had a bad attitude I can't imagine how the the waiters and waitresses were going to be. We would have waited to be seated as again we were expecting the wait but after that interaction with the customer in front of us I said never-mind and we went to R.T. OSullivan and waited there instead. Mind you the hostess there was just as busy and had a great attitude the entire time we waited. read more

We tried to like this place multiple times. The food is good; however, it's not worth it if the bartender is nasty. I guess if you aren't a regular nobody wants to serve you. The bartender would literally laugh with regular customers and then drop her smile into a completely blank face and ask us if we want anything, like we were inconveniencing her. So cold. So unwelcoming. We will not be returning. read more
