This lovely company added a tour on May 30th and texted me that they were adding a tour via MY CORRECT NUMBER and I immediately signed up for my husband's birthday and paid for it $144 with email confirmation, letting them know I was doing so. Come May 30th we arrive to the meeting location - turns out this ride was cancelled. They said they had texted me and I gave the wrong number. I accept responsibility giving them the wrong number, UNTIL I realized they never refunded me. They had my money, they had my CORRECT number, and STILL texted the wrong one and sent no email confirmation that my ride was cancelled and that I would be getting a refund. What kind of company doesn't send reimbursement until I call and they say they weren't showing up? Totally weird. I get this is partially my fault but just make sure you double check your reservation because they don't care enough to follow up with their refunds or cancellations until you advise them of the matter. read more

Hubby wanted to do this for his birthday and it was fun to cross this off our Indianapolis Bucket List. This is great for groups but the requirement is at least 6 ppl so if you're a couple wanting to go, there's no guarantee that another small group will book on the same day. It's BYOB, beer, wine, and wine cooler type of beverages. No hard liquor. Contents in glass bottles must be poured into a plastic cup when the bar is not moving. My best suggestion is to either bring your items in cans or bring your favorite tumbler with a lid. As the streets can be quite bumpy, we were spilling everywhere. Still, this was a lot of fun for everyone in our group. Wear comfy clothes and gym shoes. I don't recommend trying to pedal in fancy shoes or flip flops. You can also take food with you on the tour if you want or grab it in any of the stops that you make. The bar doesn't move very fast so don't think by pedaling faster you're going to burn rubber. All you're going to do is just get super sweaty. Chill out, enjoy the ride and your company. Regarding parking, park on the street or the alley way. They recommend against parkin in the Arby's lot because ppl have been towed and the LZ lot charge is $10. You could also just get a lyft too. This seems like a great idea for bachelor and bachelorette parties. Our friends had a blast and one wants to do this for his birthday in two weeks from now. Oh dear, my liver! read more

My co-workers and I were from out of town for a work conference. We had a blast and our driver Brandon was so fun! We got to see a lot of Indy and learn about some good places to eat and have fun. The tour was a great way to let loose and enjoy the city. I would highly recommend. read more

We've all cursed the Handle Bar when we get stuck behind it while commuting through downtown Indy, but take my word for it, this bike is worth the slowed-down traffic! Get a group of friends together and get a ride scheduled. The bike holds 16 people and is BYOB. Your reservation fee gets you two hours of pedaling and a driver, who is more than happy to recommend places to stop for shots and other downtown shenanigans. It's fun. It's unique. And totally an experience worth having. read more

Indy's hottest new summer fling! Grab 15 of your most fun friends, pack a cooler of some cold cans and you've got yourself a party on wheels! Steve will take you on some fun routes through downtown as you pedal to your favorite tunes - well actually only 10 of you have to pedal while the others can take it easy. You'll be able to visit a few bars along the way in a typical 2 hour tour. For about $10/person/hour, you can't go wrong! read more

I was able to ride in style to the Yelp White Night on the HandleBar this year and it was the perfect compliment to an already stellar event. We boarded the HandleBar at Tow Yard Brewing which was nice because we could leave our cars and grab a pint for the road! The HandleBar allows you to play the music of your choosing and offers a fun and unique way to travel around downtown while having a blast with your friends! Our driver was friendly and professional and ensured we all had a safe and enjoyable evening. I would love to organize another event on the HandleBar soon! read more

The Handlebar was an absolutely fabulous way to spend two hours downtown on an early fall day. The other reviews pretty much cover the basics of the experience, but here are a few more tips -- the seats on only one side of the contraption are adjustable, and at 5'4", it was difficult for me to pedal easily on the non-adjustable side. Make sure your seat is a comfortable height before you start moving. Also, there is one non-pedaling seat on each side and a bench in the back that seats 3. There is PLENTY of room for coolers of all sizes, so don't worry about packing too much, and the top of the contraption features a rack to hold purses and random bags. All of us ladies were worried about what we should or shouldn't bring with us, but it wasn't a problem -- everything fit nicely with no risk of falling off. They have a cord to hook up to your ipod or iphone, so make a great playlist! read more

So much fun! Rented this with a group of friends on a Saturday night last summer and it was a great time. Being able to play our own music added to the fun. I felt like a celebrity because people were waving and taking our picture along the way. It makes me laugh that you can always hear The HandleBar coming because the people on board are always having such a good time. I was originally a little annoyed when I found out that you have to bring your own alcohol, but now that I've done it, it makes the most sense that way. Just don't bring glass because that's prohibited. The cost is the same regardless of how many people you have so if you can fill all 16 spots, it's more affordable than if you have fewer people on board. I would definitely like to do this again. I just wish you could rent it for more than 2 hours at a time. read more

We did the HandleBar for my daughter's bachelorette party and it was a blast. We had a group of 12 ranging in age from 19-40 something. One of the reasons we chose this was because the younger girls were able to participate in the party (except for the drinking). Our driver (Joel) was awesome, I am sure we were one of his more tame groups but we really enjoyed ourselves seeing the sights of downtown, dancing to our own music, and celebrating the bride-to-be. We will definitely do it again. read more

I was behind one of these tonight when I left work going up Mass Ave and did not appreciate being stuck behind it. It was going less than 5mph and didn't even make it through an entire green light. Also did not appreciate the riders laughing and waving at me because I was stuck behind them. They also came within inches of a parked car when they went to turn left only a side spot (but at least finally out of traffic and I could go the speed limit). Since Mass Ave is two lanes and marked as no passing, I did not feel I could pass legally. NOT a great experience for me trying to leave work downtown. read more

I have done this three times now with very different groups and each time is a blast! Everyone steps off the bike after the two hour excursion saying "Woah, that was fun!" It is a great way to see the city and drink yourself under the peddles. The people who run it are great and friendly. When trying to do something a little different with your evening I would recommend this! read more

Did the HandleBar with 2 groups of 16. The drivers were awesome hosts and made it easy and fun for all of us. Prior to booking, customer service answered all of my questions quickly and efficiently telling me how to coordinate our 2 large groups so that we could peddle through downtown indy together. This couple of hours may have been the most fun thing our crew did in all of 2016. Look forward to doing it again soon read more

I read all the reviews before placing this one. Price: We had a group of ~12 people on a Saturday in October. Price was $400 for a 2 hour ride around Indianapolis. Cheaper on Sundays to Thursdays ($300). Occasion: Birthday event. Appropriate for a group of friends to hang out for any occasion however. Company: The driver was sociable. Event included pit stops at a few bars where we drank some more and headed back to resume the ride. Ambience: Iphones can be hooked up to play tunes on the speaker. The price was hard to beat for what it was, cheaper if you went on Sun-Thurs. I could not find a major negative point. The seats were fairly comfortable despite a poster saying they were small even for skinny people. Only 8 people needed to pedal if that because we were all motivated; it wasn't hard at all so no issues with non peddlers making it a difficult ride. I think the biggest weight was all the beer coolers that everyone had brought thinking we'd run out of drinks. People even brought crackers/cheese and other snacks. read more

Saw someone post a picture on FB and thought it would be a blast and something different to do for my 30th bday! So glad we did! From start to finish it was a great experience. The owners were very helpful and patient with my 100 questions on booking and whats provided and whats not plus parking! :) My husband didn't want to put the whole thing on his CC so he spoke to Steve and they worked it out so that he just held his info if we didn't show! which was extremely accommodating and greatly appreciated! Our driver Eric was awesome, took us on the suggested route and took some great pics for us! the only bummer was the adapter broke so we had to use the regular radio instead of our phones but nothing major we still had a great time! I got a ton of compliments on choosing something different and unique and it was a great time had by all! A lot of fun going down Mass Ave and people taking pictures like we were celebrities! I would recommend this 100x over to anyone considering it! The tennis shoe advice is dually noted for next time, it was hard in flip flops! We have been twice with friends. We were afraid that the second time we went it would not be as much fun, as there wouldn't be the novelty of it. However, both rides were fantastic! We all loved it. Yes, it's pricey, but when you break it down "per seat" it's not an expensive way to spend a couple of fun hours. The owners and drivers are extremely friendly, and were engaged in the conversation (and singing!) along the way. I'm sure that there will be more handlebar rides in our group's future. read more
