The ambiance was nice. The elder gentleman the only other customer moved from the back of the restaurant to the front of the restaurant. We had a nice conversation. I was traveling so I had a to go order. I had the chilly slaw dog and fried green tomatoes. When I tell you I thought I was about to chow down. Well the fried green tomatoes noooooooo flavor. Now the slaw dos were even worse. . How do you mess up a slaw dog. Seems as if they got a container of cabbage and grind it up and threw it on the dog. The chili was dry as heck. Ordered - Hotdog Fries Red beans & Rice Oyster PO Boy For $30+ The biggest issues - There Wasn't any red beans in the red beans and rice.. it was some other bean and the there wasn't sausage it was cut up hotdogs - The hotdog looked raw, texture was raw. It just didn't taste good. The oyster PO, was fine but for $10 there wasn't a lot to it's it was smaller than half a Publix half sub. The fries were wedges and the best thing from the meal. Honestly I've been wanting to come to this place for such a long time. Today we decided to stop by & boy it was not what i expected, at alllll. First of all the man who was working the restaurant/cook/waiter/cashier all in one was NOT friendly AT ALL. He did not greet us when we walked in & he barely made eye contact at alll the entire time. We walked in & sat ourselves as he did not say anything to us. He didn't even come to our table & take our order he took it from behind us in this weird manner. After placing our order he came & pretty much dropped the food on the table, we were saying thank you & that we appreciated him each time but he had no response in return. To be honest we tried the oysters raw & baked - the raw was too big for my liking but the baked ones were really good. We also had fried shrimp, onion rings & wedge fries. The fried food was actually good & fried well. There was no one else in the restaurant for an hour & then one older lady had walked in & he did greet her & also asked her how she was doing. I was paying close attention to him waiting her so that i can see if he had any change in attitude, in which he did. WILL NEVER return to this place. It was empty & that should have allowed us to know something was not right from the beginning. Quiet ambiance, very weird vibe. At check out he would not even look my boyfriend in the eyes, all while dealing the cash at the cash register. Btw he never checked on us nor asked if we wanted the check, we had to get up & walk to the register to show that we were ready to check out. Just terrible, we have never - ever been anywhere & gotten treated like such. The half shelf is a strong NO for me. I've been wanting to give this place a try. Their hours say they close at 9pm, so we showed up by right at 8pm and they threw us off when they said "we're closed!" UM what?! Places like this don't like catering to their guests/customers anymore. They just don't give a shit anymore. How do you close your kitchen an hour before your actual closing time?! I do not recommend at all. We came with 5 kids so there were of us and we were ready to spend $200 on seafood this night and give our support to a local business. Not even an apology, they just turned us away with "we're closed!" Do not waste your money here! They don't care about customers, they just wanna go home! We will never go here again! We decided to give this place a try yesterday. We walk in and there's no sign to seat yourself or wait so we just stood there because we didn't know. After about a minute a guy who was sitting behind a lap top finally said sit where you want. Our sever was very nice woman. However the big was rude. When your customers say thank you multiple times you say "your welcome" you're the main reason why we will not come back. Your facial expressions and rudeness will sink that place it it doesn't change. Your high prices and small portions are another reason. A plate of shrimp $18.95 you'd expect a plate of shrimp not a side salad bowl with 8-10 shrimp. Long story long we won't be back ever. read more

Today my husband and I visited The Half Shell in Newnan. The place was very clean and surprisingly quiet. The food was good and prices a little on the high side. While the food is good we will not be coming back. The service was terrible. Not once did we get a refill or asked if we needed anything. The manager/owner whatever he was walked by our table multiple times. Was quick to help anyone that came in but not get a refill or check on currently sat customers. Thankfully my husband had some sweet tea left that I could take a sip of at the end of our meal. The gratuity IS INCLUDED! No where does it state this and we were a party of two. It's set for a minimum of 18% and custom tip wasn't an option. So basically you can get the worst service ever and still pay $10+ for that tip. The owner/manager was on the phone discussing fraud and chargebacks while our food sat in the window. We are some of the easiest customers to deal with all we want is for our drinks to stay managed. There were several empty tables and four of them were occupied with customers. No excuse to go over 30 minutes without a drink. Check the prices and the amount of your bill with your included tip. They do not provide a detailed bill. You pay up front at the door before leaving. We had the fried shrimp, grouper, okra, and fried green tomatoes. No complaints for the food. The shrimp were decent size and not small. Corn on the cob my husband loved and said the grouper was some of the best around. read more

Don't let the menu overwhelm you! This place is a gem. Came upon this place while out and about and it didn't disappoint. We had a dozen Cajun oysters to start. These things were seasoned just right. I had the dozen peel and eat shrimp plate with fried green tomatoes and side salad with hush puppies. My husband got the crawfish boil. It was so good we had to try the key lime pie to end the meal. Well, I'm not sure how to sum up this review but here goes... On a whim and taunt from an old hot dog truck claiming "best chili ever" I thought, why not. Upon entering the place it seemed a bit dated with microwaves and dish washing sink in the open bar area and upon further review saw some guy shucking clams with a shark proof chain nail glove on. More about him later. My GF and I were surprised that this place also had oysters on the 1/2 shell. So we pushed through and sat down. Looking around to see who was working so we could get served I spied a girl who was working her butt off (showed in her face) helping a large group, and then there was this guy. The guy I mentioned earlier. Now I'm fairly a good sized guy and while a marine was pretty tough (35 years ago) That said, this guy was kinda scary looking. After a few minutes he came out from behind the bar to take out order while wearing his shucking glove! No smile, no "welcome" nothing! We asked how the oysters were and he said, "good." Ordered a dozen raw oysters and a NY hotdog. The oysters were to die for however, they were just on the verge of being too warm. They were served on a waiters tray, not a sanitary serving dish, and no ice... All very questionable sanitary food serving conditions f sure! The hotdog, was on a microwaved bun. Are you getting my slant on the half shell? This was our experience... The drinks were good! The hotdog, weak and the oysters had to have been fresh or we would've gotten sick f sure! My gf said that was her last trip to the half shell! So 2 years later, I forgot about the prior review and walked in. They revamped the place and things seem better but, the guy has the worst disposition! Seems like he hates being there. I feel him bc after a while, I hate being with him! Some girl too! My oysters were not fresh. I really enjoy trying to new places that specialize in oysters and I honestly was disappointed in the quality of the oysters. It would be nice if they were cold when they came out. I would suggest not allowing people to smoke at your front door it really makes the area inside and out smell bad. read more

First time diner 6/8/2019 My wife asked for the half plate of gulf shrimp. She was asked by the waitress, you get two sides. My wife asked for onion rings and fries. I asked for a Combo; fried oysters and fried catfish... again, was asked for two sides. I turned over the menu, she pointed to the sides. I selected potato salad and oyster stew. We both had water. Meal was $44.30 Apparently, two of the sides were premium sides. Adding $2 to each meal the $19.95 and $14.95. The premium stew had two oysters in it. Not impressed for the money spent. read more
