So I quickly figured out that I am no golfer. I was glad to have learned that in a simulated environment instead of actually at a golf course. While I am no professional, I think Golf Manhattan offers a pretty cool service. Nice for private events or even a date. The rooms are spacious enough for a golf pro to swing with power. There is a bar that offers wine, beer, and soft drinks. It is in a convenient midtown location accessible by most trains. The initial set up seems awkward since its in a building suite but you quickly forget once you start to swing. The simulation software offers you challenges for friendly competition or just a chance to see how long you can drive. Definitely something you can get hooked on. read more

This is terrible place. I am a member in Hack Shake for more than a month, and experiences are terrible. I bought the monthly membership online a month ago. With a monthly membership ($475 member fee), I allowed to play 2 hours per day with no extra charge. I am a beginner and almost go there everyday to practice. Then the manager Tommy start to told that If I arrive late during my reserved golf hours, there will be a penalty. I accepted at first time since I thought it make sense. And today, Tommy send an email to me mentioned if I leave early during my reserved golf hours, there'll be another penalty and fee on my account. I attached email from Tommy below. All the charges and timeframe are decided by Tommy, today he let me start my game early with no extra charge, but want to charge me if I arrive late and leave early. All the rules about timeframes and charges are decided randomly by Manager Tommy. When I sign the membership online, they never told us about additional rules. Not online or on paper or tell me when I first met them in person. Their rules changed from time to time. I believe these activities are against law. You can easily spend an hr practicing your shots or playing on the courses. It's amazing how the charts graph the direction and angle of all your shots. It even shows your speed and distance! I am a huge fan of practicing without the embarrassment of being on a course and making a fool of myself. The best indoor golf simulator I have ever been too, no doubt about it. I am a single-digit handicap golfer and I have gone to the Turn this year approximately 40-50 times. Every experience is better than the last. The employees make you feel welcome and actually care about your experience. Chris, Jeremy, Kyle, and Sean are able to answer any questions you may have, and go above and beyond to assist your group to the fullest extent. Besides the unbelievable customer service, there is so much more that makes the Turn the premier golf simulator spot in all of Manhattan. The large space located at 39th and 6th is beautiful to the eye, newly renovated to maximize the space to the best of its ability. They have great chairs and couches that you can sit at to watch various sporting events when you are not hitting. There are 6 golf simulators you can hit at, all of which are stocked with the top of the line Trackman golf system and brand new Taylormade clubs. Everyone on the PGA tour uses Trackman, so if it's good enough for them, it is definitely good enough for me. The distances and the ball flights on Trackman are nearly identical to how I hit the ball outside on the range/course. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for other Manhattan golf simulators. LoftLinks and 5 Iron golf use a different operating system called Full Swing, and it shows. When I use their system I had to aim my drive 50 yards to the right just to end-up in the middle of the fairway. I cannot stress this enough, If you had the option to go to the Turn or LoftLinks/5 Iron golf, you should choose the Turn 1000% of the time, no question. I love the Turn so much that I became an Annual Member earlier in the year. Between all the flat screen TVs playing sports, the amazing music going throughout the rooms, and the various leagues and events hosted, the turn is my favorite overall spot to go in NYC. Not to a bar, not to a restaurant, but to play golf on the most accurate system in the world. I would recommend the turn to anyone 10/10 times. Update 8/16: I believe the employee that was there was in no way operating in the way that the owner would have wanted. The owner, Jeff, was very kind to comp our bill and I definitely feel differently now than I did when I left Saturday evening. I have updated my rating to reflect that this was handled and it is very much appreciated. Thanks, Jeff. Made reservation about 1h prior to coming (place was totally empty when we arrived so that was a pointless exercise), called several times after reservation was made to say we would be late. Couldn't get anyone to pick up. Showed up apologized for being late explained traffic was horrible. We scheduled for 1.5 hours but were 20 mins late. Was only allowed to play for an hour and ten minutes and there was nobody else after us, made us pay for the full hour and a half. Would not let us continue without paying more. Guy behind the counter was extremely rude when we inquired about all of this. No common sense, why would we ever come back if treated like this? Very embarrassing for the company. read more

Great lesson! Came here for a one hour lesson with Frederico and within the hour I felt like I improved my golf swing tremendously. Frederico is a great instructor who takes the time to figure out what you need to work on. His passion for teaching was quite apparent. At the end of the session, he sat down with me to recap what I need to work on using videos of my swings. He emailed me the videos with his comments recorded so that I can use his instruction on my own. Very helpful and innovative. Also, he's a really friendly and cool guy. I REALLY love this place. It's located in a random building on the 3rd floor in midtown, and once you come up on the elevator, you're greeted by a very friendly staff (and on my occasion, the wonderful smell of bacon). They have a few private rooms in which you can 'play' golf. Outfitted with a comfy couch that fits several people, they have a full menu of beer/wine as well as food to keep you satiated all day long. Each room has a TV and speaker system so you can bump whatever music gets you going. Loved the staff - especially Joe. He's the BEST! A guaranteed great time. read more

Nestled in the back room (maybe 20x20) of a spa, Golf Manhattan give New Yorkers the opportunity to hit the greens even in the dead of winter. The computer simulation lets you choose from a variety of courses all over the world, and the cameras at 2,000fps analyze everything from ball rotation to slice to speed. Having never golfed before in my life, Jeff and Matt made it a pleasant learning experience, both having a great deal of patience! It is currently BYOB, and the mini-fridge is often stocked with leftovers from previous "outings" as well. Hungry? They will even order in for you, so you can focus on the game. $150 a month will get you a membership that permits club storage, 2 hours of play per month and 50% off the normal $60/hr (peak rate) for additional time. Matt is a PGA Professional instructor, and no matter how good you are between him and the computer you'll walk away a better golfer. Love this place, and I come here all the time. Too much. But hard not to if you like golf. Great for a bunch of reasons, but you can really improve your game here. Federico has been giving me lessons for the last 6 months or so, and my score has dropped by about 10 strokes. He is a hell of a teacher and a cool guy -v ery highly recommended. The rest of the staff are friendly and helpful as well, very solid group. If you are looking to just hit some balls, come here. The simulator gives you accurate feedback on distance, trajectory, clubhead speed, etc, and you can't really get this on a range. Good food and beer on tap for the evenings too. read more

I absolutely love this place. It's a little steep, but I always use groupon or yelp deals to get my playing time in at a decent price. Aside from that, I would live here if I could! The private simulator is amazing and works exactly how you hope it would. You can take full swings, putt, and there are even separate ball placement areas for rough or sand shots. So, if you shoot a 100 here, odds are you're probably shooting hundreds on the course as well. As part of my groupon deal, I took 3 lessons from Marc Weisberger. I highly recommend taking lessons from him. I was a steady 18-20 handicap before I took my lessons and after some quick tips, and a lot of rips, I took 8 shots off of my following rounds (live rounds, not in the simulator). For any level of golfer, Golf Manhattan provides the perfect setting to play golf if you cannot get out to the golf course. Of course, working in Manhattan, one is unable to get out to the golf course after work, and in general, one can't play golf when it's dark. Golf Manhattan provides the perfect alternative. You can easily finish 18 holes in courses such as Pebble Beach, Saint Andrews, and so forth. In addition to having the simulated courses available, Golf Manhattan provides golf clubs and gloves, so all you have to do is bring yourself and a few friends. This is definitely a plus for any one who lives in the city and plays golf, or anyone who wants to learn to play golf. It's definitely better than heading all the way out to Chelsea Piers, which is never a good experience as they are always packed and full of themselves, and better than heading all the way up to Randall's Island. This is a must visit for any one and a must go to regularly for any golfer. read more

I took a golf lesson here, half hour, and it was a fantastic experience. It's really in an odd place for a golf simulator - the back of a lovely asian spa - but the setup is fantastic. Really cozy. I took a lesson from Marc Weisberger and after a few minutes and a few tips I had a MUCH more effective golf swing. Being able to spend time with friends, play golf, watch Basketball and play music simultaneously is a perfect evening well spent. I wasn't a fan at first because of the old owner Jeff, but since the new owner took over, Golf Manhattan has made an amazing turn for the better. They focus on the customer's experiences and making it a fun and chill environment. Jeff, the owner is awful. His own partner can't stand him. I've been a regular at GM for years (since their opening in the back of a Spa). I've spent more than $3k. Jeff and I have clashed for years. The last straw was this: I want to use video and agreed to have him BUMP me for any lessons that come in after I've booked. However, Jeff found it "too cumbersome" to pick up the phone and let me know whether there was any video availability. FYI - 2 / 3 rooms have video. Without the video, the interfaces are old and falling apart. There is no usefulness to the simulators that show 110 mph club speed which I know I don't have. Ball speed numbers are accurate most of the times, but the simulators are very old. Big tech upgrade is needed. Jeff also told me that he'd rather not have me come during peak hours (despite paying for it) because he'd rather have 4 somes that also drink and buy food. OBVIOUSLY - but you don't tell that to your long time customers. Jeff refunded me part of a 10 pack and I will never go back. Go to PREMIER INDOOR GOLF - it's just 10 blocks away and has better technology and people who actually care about their customers. I've never been treated this way as a paying / regular customer. There was no other game in town, but now there are far better options. The sad part is that there are good employees and good teachers. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. I have been playing at Golf Manhattan for a few years (took a hiatus for a year or so since I was out of the city) after being introduced to the service through Brooks Brothers Flagship store's golf simulator. About two weeks ago, I called the store and booked for 2 hours through one of their employees. After finishing the round in 90 minutes, we asked if it was ok to just be charged for 90 minutes instead of 2 hours because I was unaware that you could book online for half hour segments instead of hourly. The employee was very helpful, and said that would not be a problem at all. The next week, I set up an appointment for two hours, and after the 90 minute round, we headed out to the desk to pay for said amount of time. The apparent owner was checking us out, and I asked to be charged for the 90 minutes rather than the two hours since that was the protocol I was under the impression was the way things were handled (since that's what we did less than a week before.) He couldn't have been more rude-- for almost 20 minutes, he argued the point that we asked for two hours so we should be charged for two hours. He went through his history with why the company is not going in the right direction, was extremely belittling to me, and did everything he could to try to charge us for the 2 hours. Had I had been told the week before that I could have booked for 1.5 hours rather than 2 hours, I would have done so. I didn't know they "broke protocol" the week before by charging me for less than what I originally requested. No one told me that I was in the wrong the week before for requesting for 2 hours and only playing for 1.5 hours, so I was under the assumption that everything would have been ok the next week to do the same thing. The owner clearly has no customer service skills nor understands how to run a business after asking me questions on how he should charge future customers-- by the minute or hour... It doesn't surprise me that there are other reviews of this company echoing the same sentiments as I have laid out before you, and I am sad to say that I will never be returning to play here again. I refuse to give my money to a company that is so rude to their customers, especially when he is trying to make an extra buck off of me because it's his slow season and he feels like he needed to fight me for an extra $20-$30. I have been involved with my family's business which has been running for over 90 years, and if we treated our customers this way, I'm sure we wouldn't have survived more than 9 years. I wish the company the best of luck, but I encourage future customers to maybe look for an alternate company in the city that doesn't treat their customers rudely after spending almost $100 when no one else is in there giving them money. read more
