BEWARE: THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY! I'm reviewing this company on their practices and business team…read more They are completely unorganized, unprofessional, and give you false promises. I've taken multiple classes with them over the years and always had issues getting refunds. As an alternative, I was typically able to make up the service with make-up classes at other times. However, in Spring 2024, it changed. I was registered for a Spring 24 class at Riverside/119th. First the class had a delayed start date and then cancelled (with no notice. I emailed to follow up) because they no longer had the permit to operate. Since there was no longer a location that I could go to, I asked for a refund. After promised a refund, it was never issued. Matteo is the only who replies to emails, but he's not a decision maker. If you call the number, no one picks up. After multiple inquiries over many months about my refund status, they simply stopped responding. Matteo strings you along, and makes it seem like something is going to get resolved. However, you try to talk to someone else - the mystery Juan who is supposedly going to issue refund - then it's no response. Ultimately, I'm out over $400 for a class that never happened and it's their fault.

If you know how to play tennis more than the basics, the 500 8th Ave location of Tennis Innovators…read moreis NOT for you. I would say I am a 3.5 level player and this is a better setup for pickleball. These are not full size courts (length or width) and you play with the green children's ball due to the plastic material that the surface is made out of. I came here for one of their HIIT tennis classes on a Thursday night and was surprised at the condition of the place: it was still partially under construction, the courts are not all the same length, the floor is uneven in spots, and it feels like it was haphazardly put together. As for the class, there were 6 of us split between 2 courts, which were each different sizes. The instructors weren't that great and I feel I did not really practice anything beyond trying to hit a ball made for kids. My friend and I could barely hear each other with the music so loud and the acoustics so poorly set up. One instructor didn't know how to volley and kept hitting the balls so high but then commented we weren't hitting the shot properly. The other was nice but when you use the children's tennis balls, there is a different weight and bounce to them that is not the same as a real ball (which we were told bounces too much on this surface). All in all, don't waste your time or money on this location. You also won't get your heart rate up all that much too if you know how to play tennis...unless you're running to get out of the way of balls that bounce from the other court or off the walls/columns/windows.

This used to be the Vertical Club, which in its pinnacle, was the it club of its day. Therefore,…read morethe facility is huge. A bit dated compared to other Equinoxes but humongous. The weight area has two of certain machines whereas other gyms only have one. There is plenty of room for everyone and everything. There is also a rooftop for sunning and classes. Wow. Amazing. The only thing is, the pool is in the basement, compared to the Sports club with the nicest pool with windows. Also Printing House has an outdoor pool. I cannot speak to Hudson Yards because i have the destination except HY membership. But Equinox, if you want me to review HY, message me. Then there is the Trader Joe's a block away, so you can get your protein and fruits and vegetables after the gym. 10 out of 10. I always imagine how it was when it was a pickup joint. Nowadays no one talks to anyone at the gym.

They also have a lot of yoga classes with very skilled instructors. I do love their cycling classes as well. But my two favorite things are; 1. The rooftop during the summer months where we do best stretch ever. 2. The showerheads in the bathroom. The best pressure I've ever had. Their sauna and steam room is spacious for the men's side and they have a pool and jacuzzi that's co-ed. Also one of my favorite things is that it's very lowkey and 7 floors so often times you're just in the zone on your own.

I visited prior to joining as I have been a member of other prestigious gyms and spas in the past. Equinox has multiple levels of membership, and I recommend the Destination membership. It gives you access to Equinox gyms around the country! This is perfect for individuals who travel for work or leisure. Next, I would like to address the cost of membership. Membership will cost between $300-$400 per month. At first you may think, 'wow, this is expensive.' However, I did an analysis of multiple gyms! Let's examine the cost of other NYC hot spots. Other gyms offer power lifting as a main source of workout and charge over $200 per month. Some pilates studios offer training classes for approximately $180 per month. There are yoga studios across New York that average $169-$200 a month. There are gyms centered around group classes that cost an average of $220-275 per month. Swim club fitness average $180-250 per month. If you joined multiple gyms to meet your fitness needs, you would be spending over $1000 per month. WOW. This is why I joined Equinox! Your membership includes weight lifting options, cycle fit classes, yoga classes, pilates classes, core strengthing classes, HIIT training, persoal training, nutrition coaching, massage therapy from licensed massage therapists, an AMAZING spa, ViPR--an incredible workout that engages your core, improves flexibility, and builds strength and power! (Its wonderful). Furthermore, this location has a beautiful pool with city views! You can lap swim, take swimming classes, and have personal swim coaching. Equinox is a powerful place to be a part of. 160 Columbus even has an outdoor track with beautiful views of the City as you improve your cardio strength and endurance. Furthermore, the gym has a boxing arena/room! I can not think of a better place to be a part of a gym that offers 10 gym services all in one place! There is nothing that beats the quality of this type of membership. $1000 or $300-400 for all of your fitness needs. You decide! I LOVE Equinox at 160 Columbus Ave. The vibe is laid back yet professional and courteous. The concierge offers excellent services. I highly recommend Equinox. PM me, and I would be happy to give you a referral! There is a current incentive that you do not want to miss if you want to join Equinox! I can't wait to hear from you if you have questions about Equinox. Join. Strengthen. Enjoy! Tell Equinox, Lauren Lindsay sent you! I can not wait to hear from you and help you through the membership process!

I had a minor issue with one of the workers, and instead of handling it professionally, GM Joseph Cloonan came up to me inside the men's locker room while I was not dressed. I asked him multiple times to please wait outside the locker room until I was dressed and told him I would speak with him outside. He refused and continued following me around the locker room, including while I was changing. I felt extremely uncomfortable and left the gym right away because I wanted to escalate and report what happened. About an hour later, I received a call saying I was banned from Equinox for life for allegedly violating the Mutual Respect Policy. Since then, I have made multiple attempts to contact Equinox corporate, Equinox HR, and Equinox legal. I have also tried dealing with club directors Allison Neimi and Emma Marr, but they refused to take a phone call from me, refused to let me explain what happened, and refused to provide any meaningful escalation contact. I am now filing a civil claim and complaints with the New York State Attorney General's Consumer Frauds Bureau, the New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, and any other appropriate agency. Worth noting, Equinox has already faced serious consumer-protection scrutiny. In 2025, the New York Attorney General announced a $600,000 settlement with Equinox over membership and cancellation practices, including allegations that Equinox failed to clearly disclose subscription terms and failed to provide easy online cancellation options. In my opinion, this club handled the situation terribly. I was followed around a locker room while undressed, banned shortly after, and then ignored when I tried to report what happened through the proper channels.
