I was a guest of a member during the 18-inch snow storm, so I wore my $500 dollar suede Danner lights (Made in the USA) to manage the snow. Upon entry, I was informed by the staff that, due to the suede being too light, it looked too much like Timberland boots, which are banned. I was professionally whisked to a backroom, where I was offered to wear black loafers 3 sizes too large if I wanted to make my appointment. I spent the rest of my time skipping through the venue in order to not trip over myself, wearing massively oversized shoes. I would have been okay with this footwear restriction if it was universally enforced, but there were plenty of people in the club wearing duck boots, metal hook leather hiking boots, and even the same type of boots of a slightly darker shade. Apparently, the shoe shade restriction was not something members are aware about (the no sneakers restriction is well known). I have previously been a guest here with positive experiences. However, today I was put in an illogically unsafe experience, forced to wear loaner shoes 3 sizes too large, because $500 lighter suede boots are deemed less classy than duck boots for being too"Timberland like" during a snow storm.

Does the manager hire these kids out of a special needs high school? Each and every one of them is always on their phone texting and not paying attention when people enter the gym (which - let's be honest - is really their only function). I wish I could record it - these children NEVER check anyone's IDs and I know for a fact that dozens of people sneak into the gym every day. What am I even paying a membership for? I always have to wave my phone in front of their face when I come in so they scan it and my visit will be registered in the app. Why are they always too busy to scan it on their own? Why do I need to remind them to be doing their jobs? And worst of all, every single one of the children working here is RUDE and ENTITLED. They never say good night to the guests and they are always just gossiping amongst themselves. This is a JOB. THEY ARE BEING PAID TO WORK NOT TO STAND AROUND IGNORING GUESTS. IF I OWNED THIS PLACE I WOULD HIRE ALL NEW STAFF AND MAKE SURE THAT THEY SCAN EVERY GUESTS' ID AND THEY SAY HELLO AND GOOD BYE EVERY DAY. IT IS NOT THAT HARD. For $400 a month, you would think they would do that. But then again, this is a company that just lost $40M in a class action settlement. What else do you expect. Nitwits.

I had a minor issue with one of the workers, and instead of handling it professionally, GM Joseph Cloonan came up to me inside the men's locker room while I was not dressed. I asked him multiple times to please wait outside the locker room until I was dressed and told him I would speak with him outside. He refused and continued following me around the locker room, including while I was changing. I felt extremely uncomfortable and left the gym right away because I wanted to escalate and report what happened. About an hour later, I received a call saying I was banned from Equinox for life for allegedly violating the Mutual Respect Policy. Since then, I have made multiple attempts to contact Equinox corporate, Equinox HR, and Equinox legal. I have also tried dealing with club directors Allison Neimi and Emma Marr, but they refused to take a phone call from me, refused to let me explain what happened, and refused to provide any meaningful escalation contact. I am now filing a civil claim and complaints with the New York State Attorney General's Consumer Frauds Bureau, the New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, and any other appropriate agency. Worth noting, Equinox has already faced serious consumer-protection scrutiny. In 2025, the New York Attorney General announced a $600,000 settlement with Equinox over membership and cancellation practices, including allegations that Equinox failed to clearly disclose subscription terms and failed to provide easy online cancellation options. In my opinion, this club handled the situation terribly. I was followed around a locker room while undressed, banned shortly after, and then ignored when I tried to report what happened through the proper channels.

You can access this from an elevator from the hotel, or there is another street entrance where the juice bar is downstairs, and you access this through separate elevator banks where you pass by their shop to make your way towards the lobby. This main floor includes the locker rooms, shop, check-in, and a beautiful lobby area with a long workstation table and some comfortable couches. The fitness floor is in an extended L-shape that spans the perimeter, and allows in a lot of natural light. Up the flight of stairs near the locker rooms is where the studios were (yoga, pilates, group fitness) along with Broken Coconut and of course, the pools, indoors and out. The spa is also accessible from this second level, however there was one entry that didn't permit members which was a little frustrating. I'm not a hardcore workout enthusiast, so I cannot go on about equipment, etc. However, the treadmills and stretching areas were fine, so I won't complain about any of that. Since there was a great shower upstairs, I didn't use the ones in the locker rooms. This location is a Destination one, and that breaks down into whether you are grandfathered in, or if your membership states 'Destination HY' if you've joined after a certain time since Equinox changes the names of the membership tiers ever so slightly (especially the cost difference). If you're already this status, give them a try just to say you worked out at the flagship, but if you're not, the day fee will be worthy for all they have to offer.

During that session, I was guided through an exercise I had never performed before using weight that was clearly too heavy while my form was incorrect throughout the movement. As a result, I experienced ongoing shoulder and neck pain for weeks, required medical evaluation and a physiotherapy referral, and missed multiple days of work. What was even more frustrating was the communication afterward. In text messages, rather than taking accountability, the trainer suggested that I should have spoken up if the weight was too heavy, despite the fact that he was the professional leading the exercise and letting me continue without correcting my form during the session. I reported the incident immediately and provided documentation to management, but Equinox ultimately denied responsibility and refused to assist with any medical-related costs. For a gym that markets itself as a premium fitness experience, I expected a much higher standard of safety, professionalism, and accountability

I am a member of the Racquet club as well. I had not used the gym in years but paid for it none the less. (Hate to say it $1,000's). I mostly had used this gym because of the proximity from home. Overall a good experience with the staff and like the wide array of options. However today 7/3/2026 was not the case. My membership had been temporarily paused in the morning because I go to Europe for the summer. The issue was as easy as running a card or checking with another person to find out that I am a member or a mistake was made and we can fix it. Being creative to add value to a customer experience, while also making sure the club is being managed properly. It's a balance. Instead of "requesting" The very rude "manager" on duty, I think it was Shakina, came to the pool, as I was swimming and asked if I was ("name") and she said. "You are going to have to get out now, you are not a member" As if I was someone off the street. Right in front of my kids and the rest of the people at the pool. I felt as if I had stolen something or gotten into a fight at an Irish pub and the bouncer was kicking me out. I said I was swimming with my 8 year old daughter. She said. "Well she can get out too" and smiled, because she knows exactly how she is acting. It is simply part of her being. I was actually shocked that I would be subjected to such disrespect, after paying her salary for 2 years with my unused membership fees. Ultimately it was resolved and she had to stand down but her attitude and lack of service standards, when speaking to a customer is certainly going to be a detriment to the establishment, if it spreads. Especially from customers who know they have other options, in the neighborhood, where respect for customers is trained. Unfortunately her poor level of service, due to a lack of training, had already spread to her front desk staff member who also gave me similar attitude and I had not even spoken to her. So this type of blatant attitude will be toxic for a team eventually unless it is removed. I hope this manager finds a job that is more fitting of her skill level. Until then, be ware. I have been told that other members have also complained about the same person. Wonder how many it will take.

We both live in Flushing near Main St., so NYISC was a perfect place for us to travel to. The club inside was spacious and clean. Some of the staff greeted us as soon as we walked in and gave us a thorough and in-depth description of all the membership services and fees for ping pong games/coaching. The actual tables are professional-grade, and there are actually plenty of them spread throughout an enormous indoor facility. I liked the feel of the high ceilings while I played (or at least ATTEMPTED to play haha). Even though this place was popular on a weeknight around 7-8pm, the size of the facility didn't make me feel cramped. Checking out the rest of NYISC, I saw an indoor soccer field - which is a rare sight in a place such as Flushing. I don't play soccer, but I would recommend this space for soccer teams and friends looking to play a match or serious game. My boyfriend and I also wandered to the 'Pro Shop' in the sports club. They sold all different professional ping pong products from brands such as Butterfly (famous ping pong product manufacturer). We didn't purchase anything, but I did sign up for private lessons with one of the renowned & accomplished coaches. The pricing was for a set of 10 lessons and were more than affordable. The coaches were all world ranked, and have competed in Olympics, etc. Maybe one day I'll be able to at least keep up in a game with my boyfriend, lol. LAST THING: People here are very open and friendly. If you come on a weeknight like us or a weekend, there will always be staff to help you and fellow players/students to meet/interact with :) One person saw my extreme lack of ping-pong skills and kindly helped me out a bit the first time I came to NYISC -___- lols I will definitely be returning
