Dear Mr Guy I came by your place today bury I guess you were at another location. I was looking shabby so I remembered hearing about you place. So I walked into a pretty cool little chill spot. You had the tv on ESPN and a little drink station. I spoke with you receptionist ands she told me it was a short wait and to feel free to grad a nice leather lounger and a handful of peanuts and she would be with me soon. It wasn't really that crowded and the wait was just long enough for me to want to watch more sport center as my name was called and I was escorted back like I was a rock star. When I sat in the chair I was shocked to see you installed TVs in the booths so I could continue my sports center as the person chopped on my head. She gave me a great cut then brought in a hot towel for my face as she washed my hair with tea tree shampoo. Way to go with that tea tree, it feels amazing as she messaged my scalp while the towel felt great on my face. I felt like Mcjagger. After what felt like the best shampoo of my life she then broke out the razor and started trimming up my beard. This must be what it feels like to be in commercials having someone make you pretty. You trained this girl right. She had me on point. I wish I had brought a. Stick to fight the women off me when I leave because I was looking like Freddy Mercury in the 70s. Then when I thought I had to go and the pampering was over she brakes out this machine she places on her hand looking Louie a female iron women and starts to message my shoulders. Damn son. You thought of everything. I bet elvis never had a haircut this good. I would say my friend that I will be back. Hair stylist made me feel uncomfortable getting a haircut. All I asked for was to trim the hair off my ears, and was told by the stylist they would cut their fingers if they did that. Then she told me cutting hair was all about angles and geometry. I wanted to walk out. Don't go here!! read more

Usually very very on point. Was rescheduled a few times and changed at no fault to my normal go to person as they were unavailable, indicated they may be ill, hope they feel better. Anyway I respond to the number that had been messaging saying I'd be close to five minutes late after all this more than 30 minutes to appointment. Walked in between 11:05 and 11:06 and was told to reschedule as the new person didn't have time now and it's their policy if I'm late. Really? After multiple changes, that was considered too late? Sad :( would have been best to tell me to reschedule instead of ok, it's almost an hour to get here for me. Next time I need a cut if the person I usually see isn't available I'll reschedule. I dropped in for a simple haircut. I put my equipment in temp storage and everything from the neck up was getting unmanageable. I shave my head, so all I wanted was someone with clippers to get rid of the hair on my head and face. Nothing frilly. Since I'm not the type to sit around in a hot barber shop shooting the breeze about nothing with strangers like an Ice Cube movie, I tried these guys. Mostly because it was right across the street from the coffee shop. $21 plus tip for this simple arrangement. That's crazy. Star lost for that. Yes, I'm aware that I'm paying for atmosphere, no waiting and some extra touches. I know. That said, it's a really nice place. The cutter was okay. Nice enough. But her deft touch was superb. With light hands and fingers, I bet she's good at bigger challenges than what I came in with. They don't offer shaves, which was horribly disappointing. It probably would've cost a mint, but come on...what kind of "Guy's Place" doesn't offer the most demanding guy grooming ritual? That might sound paltry to some, but I take it seriously. She cut me from the neck up, then applied a warm towel to my face. And washed my head afterward, which was nice. That's the extra stuff I paid for right there. But there was no balm application, which I found curious. Upon checkout, she hovered over me while I thought about how to tip her and that was very uncomfortable. A little privacy please. All things considered, if you want a real haircut, I'd say give them a shot. read more

Why am I such an idiot? I decided to go to The Guys Place again after saying I would never go back. Before going in my hair was around 3" long on top. I like it real short on the sides and long on top and in the front. So I told the person to do a #3 on the side but only cut about 1/2" off the top if that much. The hairdresser took her time and did a nice job on the sides and finally stopped cutting my hair with the top being around 2" long. Shorter than I wanted but I could live with it. She then asked me if that was short enough and I responded that it was plenty short. So, she combs it and stops and looks and then proceeds to cut an extra inch off the top!!! What the heck?!?!?! Now my hair is about 1" long on top if that much. 3" - 1/2" = 2.5" It does not equal 1". Again, another case of idiot hairdressers who do not listen to what their customers asks for. Disclaimer: the hairdresser had a bit of a European accent. Maybe I should have told her only to take 1 centimeter off the top. read more

This place is an absolute joke. I just needed the sides shaved and asked for that. She used a trimmer to cut them but only blended up half way. No other services offered. She charged me for a fade($40). This was more expensive than getting a whole cut ($30). Made no sense to me. I asked about getting the hot neck shave service they offer. She informed me that she could not do this. I will avoid this place at all cost in the future. Didn't have time to drive to my normal place. They charge $40 for a complete cut and shave. read more

I wish I had given a review every time I've come to this place, but unfortunately I haven't. This review was inspired by today's experience. I've been to this location probably 15 times in the last 2 years. Of those 15 times I've had just 2 negative experiences, but today's was memorable enough for me to call (be told the manager is busy) and turn to the internet to write a review. This needs to be prefaced by reiterating the fact that 13/15 visits here have been wonderful and I left very pleased. Today, however, was a different story. I'm not one to make appointments because I work in town and live out of town and tend to come by on random days during a lunch break. I understand the business here is to cut hair, but there is also supposed to be some customer service and engagement with the customer. That's where the tips come from and I generally give $5 at least every time. This afternoon I had a cut from a stylist with purple hair, tattoos on her chest, and a piercing in her face. I don't know her name because she didn't offer me a card or give me a receipt when I was done, but she was the second or third chair back on the right hand side. Throughout the entirety of my interaction she was rushing and hardly spoke. She asked how I wanted my cut and then didn't say another word until she told me I was done. The cut, wash, and styling literally lasted 14 minutes from the second I sat in the chair until the second I stood up. She was aggressive with the sheers and combs to the point where it hurt my scalp a bit. The wash consisted of a scalding hot towel draped on my face, cold water run through my hair, shampooing for 5 seconds, more cold water, conditioner for another 5 seconds, and more cold water. The shampoo didn't stay in my hair long enough for me to feel the effects of the American Crew Daily Shampoo which usually feels a bit tingly and nice. When the wash was over, she sat me up, put a towel to my head and rubbed it dry very aggressively and made me feel uncomfortable. The massaging machine that they use is generally wonderful, but today I only experienced it for a whopping 5 seconds. Literally enough time for her to go back and forth across my shoulders one time. I don't have difficult hair and I'm not hard to please and I was on a lunch break so I was slightly crunched for time, but she didn't know that and was not personable by any means whatsoever and would've made me a bit more comfortable if she had at least acted like she cared about her job and the customer she was servicing. She checked her phone while in the middle of my haircut at least twice that I saw. She acted as though she had something else going on. If that's the case, okay, but don't bring it to work. I'll go back, but if she's working, I won't allow her to cut my hair. I don't come here for a wham bam thank-you ma'am hair cut, I come here for the other 13 times I've been here where I've engaged with the stylist in good conversation, felt like I wasn't a burden, but instead an appreciated patron, and left pleased and refreshed. Today was just unfortunate is all. Today's visit was 1/5 stars, but generally it's 5/5 stars which is why this review is 3/5. read more

This place is HORRIBLE. My husband came here on a Sunday afternoon. He was the only customer, so it wasn't like they were busy trying to rush people out.... The woman who cut his hair cut him multiple times. She failed to cut behind his right ear, and didn't even brush him off before he left. He has piles of hair all over him. Amazing! If I could give 6 stars I would. I am new to the area and always like finding my spot for a haircut. This is now my spot. I've had bad haircuts and have had very long haircuts. I was in and out of here with the perfect cut in 15 min. A lot is included with the cut including like shampooing and even a neck massage. Was in town for a wedding and needed a quick cut. Called before I came in to make sure they were taking walk-ins (they were). Showed up and signed in. One guy signed in after me and was called before me, which was weird, but I only waited about five minutes. Brandi cut my hair and did a pretty good job. Only complaint is that I have a weird cowlick in the back of my head. Some times is can be tamed, this was not one of those instances. The shampoo was great so I didn't need to go straight home to shower. The "neck massage" was pretty poor, obviously just getting it over with the get to the next customer. Ebony did a great job on my son's haircut, and Jillian did a fantastic job on my husband's haircut! Ebony knew exactly what she was doing and gave my son a great look that helped him feel good and confident about himself. I didn't have to overexplain like I usually do when I take him to a barber. She already knew. With Jillian: There's not many stylists in barber shops that know how to cut and deal with a male who has long hair. But Jillian was great at giving him tips on hair maintenance and gave him a very clean and professional look. The stylists are great but the front desk could use some work. I called a week in advance to get an appointment with a specific stylist. I showed up early for my appointment only to see someone else going to the back with the stylist at my requested time. The lady at the front desk told me the lady who cancelled her appointment showed up and took her appointment back. The only consolation I got was 'well we have other stylists available'. I was getting impatient and my son was getting antsy so I took whoever was available If you aren't going to honor appointments and give people the requested stylist, then don't give people the option. Better yet, grow a set and tell the person who showed up for her backsies cancelled appointment she was out of luck and that it was given to someone who had the appointment for a week. read more

Same thing at SportsClips will charge you $22, and usually the quality of the cuts there is far inferior to the one here. It was definitely worth the very short wait! I just moved here from Richmond Virginia and have had roughly 4 maybe 5 haircuts at three or four different places. They all sucked mind you! I will never go anywhere else as long as I live in Raleigh! It is very hard to find a good stylist with a $12.50 haircut. Scratch that almost impossible! This place definitely has it. I went in for a haircut, beard trim, and eyebrow wax, and came out looking quite spiffy. They take appointments and walk-ins. I made an appointment for 6:30 and waited less than 5 minutes upon arrival (Which went fast. I munched on peanuts and watched the big screen TV). They called my name and I was led back to one of the fancy cubicle-like areas that had it's own TV. The stylist even asked what I wanted to watch (playoffs, baby!). The sectioned cutting areas offer privacy that cuts out the noise and chaos of most barbershops, making it a nice change-of-pace from the norm. The stylist was attentive, friendly, funny, and took genuinely good care of my noggin. Chairs are comfortable, and even though my bald head really doesn't need a shampoo, I still got one. Cheers for that. I got a back massage too! Fast service, free peanuts, great prices, friendly staff, and most importantly, a quality haircut. I'll be back. read more

As long time user of a similar place, I can honestly say I will never go back to that other men's hair cut place again. Not only was my hair stylist nicer, but took time with my hair, talked to me about things, and overall provided a better service. It's nice to have a tv set with a remote control to watch anything you wanted, as well as having the entire service done in one booth. I will be back again! read more

I went to the Raleigh, NC location yesterday and got a far better haircut for $11.50 from Jenita than I was getting from another "fancy" hair salon in Raleigh where I paid $47 - and the last time I had gone there got a pretty terrible cut (hence my search for a new spot). Friendly, clean, comfortable...and you're in your own "private booth" with TV for the duration of your cut, hot towel, wash, and MASSAGE. A+ read more

After speaking with the Owner, Hans about my previous review. He was nice enough to 1. Apologize and 2. send me a card for a free haircut. I took my young son again a few weeks ago. We were promptly greeted upon entering, and were seated with a stylist within 5 mins. His stylist was Tanisha (I believe that was her name, might have been Tamara) She was WONDERFUL!!! She has a young son around the same age as mine, and really knew how to work with a younger child. His haircut was excatly how I asked for it to be cut. She turned sponge bob on the TV for him! And she was really great at making conversation. I didn't even have to help hold him still because he felt so at ease with her. I highly reccomend her for a childs haircut at this location! (Hans, this girl needs a raise!) My only complaint about this visit was having to wait to check out (So i could leave her a tip), and not being noticed at the register after standing there for 5 mins, and there were employees right there behind the desk.
