Guy, is the best vocal teacher I have found in the OC area and he is just one of those special people who is gifted in what he does - teaching people how to train and preserve their voices. He uses special exercises from all different times in our history and has a deep understanding of what a voice needs, in order to get it to certain levels and notes. Personally, I find it completely fascinating, and am so happy to have found him for my daughter who would like to improve her voice for musical theater. Over the past 20 years, Guy has trained hundreds of professional vocalists, musical high schoolers applying to college for music, and lots of vocal teachers in the OC and LA area. He has even trained some of the contestants that appeared on The Voice and on American Idol! I've only had two lessons with Guy Babusek and have heard many noticeable improvements in my voice after each one. My first lesson was in person at his studio in Santa Ana, which he recorded for me so I could listen to while I practice later on. The second was over Skype, (which you will need to record yourself but it's super easy) which was very convenient. He's a wonderful teacher, patient, encouraging and will work on specific songs that you want to practice, so you can actually hear the difference in how the song sounds while you're singing it. I can see why he has so many 5 star reviews on here, which is the main reason I chose him. I highly recommend the Guy Babusek vocal studio if you want to take your singing to the next level. I'm looking forward to having more lessons with him and seeing where we can take my voice! Thank you so much!! read more

Because I take my craft seriously I've decided on Guy as my voice coach. I see him five times a week and with every lesson I learned more and more. I've become a greater singer with broader range and longer stamina and even more importantly I am better able to connect with my material. He's kind, knowledgeable, passionate, and he believes in what he does and, in turn, what I do. Don't go anywhere else I've seen plenty of voice coaches and nobody is equal to the power of Guy! read more

Guy is an absolutely phenomenal voice teacher! Every time I have a lesson with him, I walk away completely mind blown. I have been singing for many years and taking lessons for many as well, yet each lesson with him is different than what I've done before. He is able to help me produce sounds in an easier and better way even after many years of work. I would recommend him to any and everyone no matter your level of singing experience. read more

My son really enjoyed his lessons with Guy. He didn't care for lessons anywhere else. Our only problem was that we needed my son recorded in a studio and Guy doesn't do that. Overall great experience though. read more

Amazing vocal coach! Guy is patient and incredibly skilled. Definitely recommend this man

I initially went to Guy when I was in a bad place vocally and was losing my love for singing. He opened my eyes (and my vocal cords) to do so much more than I had ever done, yet in a safe way so as to not ever cause any damage. Since then, I've been able to get back on the road and to record several more albums in excellent vocal health. Now, in my 50's, I'm singing better than I did even in my 20's -- more range, stamina, and passion. Guy inspired me so much that I decided to become an instructor myself, also getting certified in the Speech Level Singing method, and I now work hard to try to inspire my own students as much as he did me. Guy is a consummate professional, always striving to be better. He brings a lot of knowledge to his teaching. I recommend Guy highly! read more

If you're reading this review, then you're either considering starting a journey in vocal technique for yourself or possibly for your child. Let me tell you straight off: Guy is the BEST and ONLY option for vocal training in Southern California (and probably further). Why? 1) Credentials wise he's simply one of, if not the most accredited vocal teacher out here. He was a level 5 (of 5) star certified master instructor for Speech Level Singing (the highest you can go), traveling to do seminars for the company and determining whether or not aspiring coaches were ready to be let loose on the public. [SLS being one of the only 'real' international institutions for vocal instruction. Google it. Michael Jackson was a student of SLS to give you the idea of star power there] When SLS split off, he and a collection of other master instructors created the now Institute of Vocal Advancement where he's also a master instructor and board member. You'll be incredibly hard pressed to find anyone else with more teaching experience. 2) He's simply just a wizard when it comes to tricking you into getting in a mix. There are times when progress may feel like it's plateauing, only to come in for your next lesson and have a breakthrough. He's seen it all. On top of which he's one of the nicest, easiest guys to get along with. When we aren't phonating, we're talking up a storm. Walking out of his studio is like coming out of therapy. You just feel... happier. 3) He's not a liar. 90% of vocal instructors try to impose this ridiculous image that 'IN JUST ONE LESSON, YOU TOO CAN BE THE NEXT STAR!'. Vocal lessons are like going to the gym. You don't walk in, throw some weights on a bench press, do a few reps and walk out with a 50" chest. It's impossible. The amount of brain activity needing to be coordinated all at the same time to find a proper mix is VERY, VERY, HARD. And unfortunately, most teachers will hide that fact from you. Guy however, will be the first to tell you that this is a journey. You get from it what you put into it. Yes, you will have to practice. A lot. There are no shortcuts. If there were then we wouldn't place any value on talented singers. But Guy makes the process fun. He's incredibly perceptive and is always pushing you to do better. Not only will the quality of your voice be progressing, but you'll be doing it in such a way that if you do have to sing every night you'll be able to survive it. Now it's quite possible that by the time you're reading this there will have been all manner of reviews posted. But just know that when you're selecting an instructor that there are always drop outs. People who couldn't put in the time and effort to see the results they wanted. We live in an era of instant gratification. Vocal instruction is not that. However if you have the patience and drive to work towards a skill that you will carry with you your entire life, then there is nobody else to have guide you through it. read more

Guy is one of the best voice teachers world wide. Voice lessons with Guy taught me to hit notes I never imagined before--Without straining.

I came to Guy Babusek with several bad habits I had developed from prior singing experiences. Guy has helped me overcome my prior limitations and has literally transformed my voice, allowing me to sing in the styles I prefer in a connected voice throughout my range with much more freedom, control, and confidence. Guy's theoretical and practical knowledge is extensive and his education and experience are world-class. If a singer is having a difficulty such as too much compression, recruitment of outer muscles, allergies, or congestion, Guy has an amazing ability to hear and diagnose the problem on the spot and tailor exercises that directly address the issue and allow the singer to move past it. I occasionally bring him phrases that I have been struggling with and he will suggest a modification, a warm up exercise, or an alternative approach that instantly allows me to sing it much more easily. Of course, I have to practice subsequently, but the intellectual understanding that I have gained regarding what the fundamental problem was and how to correct it has been invaluable and has added to my own ability to troubleshoot issues when I am away from his studio. Guy demands dedication and pushes me to not settle for "good enough". At the same time, he is extremely personable and a joy to work with. He is flexible and accommodating. He has a terrific ability to communicate and explain what he wants a student to do, but even more importantly, he is skilled at selecting exercises that "show" the student how to sing properly by allowing the student to experience firsthand what proper technique feels like. Every lesson is archived on CD or mp3 for the student's use during practice. My weekly voice lesson is something I eagerly look forward to. I cannot recommend Guy Babusek highly enough! read more

My experience with guy taught me much about how to better use my voice. He was kind, educated and and professional. Due to changes in my life I was unable to continue with my lessons. My daughter has been taking voice lessons with Guy for about 6 years. He has brought her voice to an unbelievable level. She is 18 years old, and when people listen to her sing, they are truly amazed with the beautiful tone and clarity of her voice. She has been asked to sing the National Anthem many times for schools, games, and local city Veteran's Day celebrations, and most recently for a Laker game at the Staples Center. People from the audience will come up to her, with tears in their eyes, thanking her for singing it so beautifully. I am so thankful to Guy for the help he has given to my daughter. He is a gift and a treasure. read more

So, I want to start by saying Guy Babusek is an amazing vocal instructor. He transformed my daughter from an average choir singer, into a vocal artist who later signed with a major label. Although my daughter was unable to pursue the vocal career she should have, and was worthy of, without Guy, we would not have ever uncovered her beautiful vocal talent. Fast forward 15 years, my youngest daughter desires to be like her sister and sing like an angel. Although she is just beginning her vocal training, I know that Guy will definitely uncover the skills she has, and teach her how to perfect her craft. Guy offers lessons via skype and also offers in studio lessons. My kids got bummed when they spent 20 minutes doing vocal warm ups and only ten minutes singing in a half hour lesson but that is exactly the discipline required to be able to perform at their best. I thank Guy Babusek for his vocal training and discipline and anyone who truly wants to perfect their abilities vocally, should spend the money and see Guy. We love you and will drive from San Diego for a half hour lesson any day of the week!!https://youtu.be/VlWj0MsX4mo read more
