I'm relocating from the Charleston area to Conway and happened upon this business. As a former military officer, law enforcement officer and contractor I very familiar with weapons initially stopped in to purchase ammunition and made several subsequent purchases including weapons. Unfortunately, my last visit will be my "last" visit/purchase. I sought to purchase a CZ Shadow Carry handgun. The salesperson indicated that they had one being shipped to their store. I received a call on my way home from the store stating that they had received the gun. I drove two hours and returned to the store to purchase the gun. I paid $1,599. for the gun, $200. over the manufacturer's "recommended retail price" of $1,399. I understand the buyer beware principle but I still bought the gun. I asked if they gave a discount to law enforcement or military; they did not. I recognize that a business is entitled to a profit but not an outrageous profit! I spend approximately $500 per month in Palmetto State Armory and will continue to give my business to them (they also give a discount to law enforcement, military and veteran). read more

OK so driving up to this place is not impressive. You could drive right by if you were not looking for it. Walk in and everything changes. A typical mid week morning visit and the place is full of customers purchasing firearms and ammo. More guns and ammo than I expected. Better selection on hand in after-market and OEM selections as well. Small place but it keeps going back inside to reveal store rooms, class room and indoor range. Many staff people and a gunsmith on hand. Big dog to pat as well. A family vibe here. I have done due-dillagence on a gun that they happened to have in stock so I can say with confidence the pricing was very fair. They happened to have Federal 9mm as well and did not soak me on the price, (0.48 per round as of 3-16-21). People seemed to be nice and obviously know what they are selling. The range had good HVAC and was maintained clean. Range Master was polite and helpful. Same with counter sales. I noticed a diverse cliental mix of people actively engaged in purchasing during my stay, (over two hours). I learned a couple of things from the folks there in seeking help and understanding. I would recommend stopping in to rent a gun and try the range out. You may be surprised by what you experience here. Great to have a family owned and operated business with a large inventory and fair pricing. When you stop in, don't forget to pat the dog. read more

I have been here twice and purchased something both times. The first time I dealt with an older gentleman who was a pleasure to deal with. I was glad to have found a gun shop, with an indoor range, that was a pleasure to go to. Second trip, complete opposite. Young guy helped me the second time. VERY rude and matter of fact. I did buy what I saw that I wanted but I will NEVER deal with him again. If whomever owns this business doesn't get a handle on him and his attitude, they will lose business. I have read quite a few bad reviews and they all had to do with him. If I find out that he is the owner, I will NEVER go back, EVER. It's bad enough he is working and getting a check here but I couldn't handle the fact of him being the owner and treating customers that way while reaping the benefits of their hard earned money! read more

Really nice shop. Almost missed it as most GPS's will bring you about a mile further down the road. Being new to SC from Jersey these guys helped my with all my questions and and concerns entering the "Gun World". They were helpful in modifying a clip to work with my 1955 Ruger and even took down my info to give me a call if they ever come across another gun I was looking for. Smart, friendly customer service. And also a great place to get tackle in the bait shop you cut through to get to the gun store. read more

First let me say that I had been to 3 other gun shops where there attitude was a woman won't be buying a gun so let's not wait on her. WRONG, not only do I have my CWP, but I knew specifically what rifle I wanted to buy my husband and was ready to make it happen. Within 30 seconds of walking into the shop I was greeted by several gentlemen and ended up working with David. After finding out they didn't have what I wanted in stock, David took his time and gave me some other options to consider. I had my heart set on a Magnum Research 22LR so David got on the phone, located what I wanted, and had it to me in time for Christmas. It was a little bit of a drive for me, but I am so glad I ended up at The Gun Store on 701. We've already been back and enjoyed the indoor range too. Terrific place to obtain your carry permit for South Carolina. My wife and I took the required class and range time and had a stress free time doing so. The very capable instructor a gentleman named Chris, was informative, funny and very knowledgable. Everything needed to qualify was covered, and was probably the best firearms course I have ever taken. The entire staff was helpful, especially Chris. Thank you all for a great experience. Don't don't believe I will ever be going back to the store, the employee that asked if he could help me , Was very rude ! All I said was do you trade guns he said Yeah , I explain I had a 380 and he stopped me before I could say anything else and was like No Nope we have too many of those here and we just can't get rid of them. I said ok and walked down to the revolvers an asked the gentleman there if they had any 380 revolvers and he no ma'am we don't I started to laugh and just walked away read more

Went in store it was ok seen alot better. They seem to have an attitude toward people. I guess there cool with there sidearm on. A pack of 22LR 59.99 for 500 rounds please. I ask if they had a sig 238 he says no but I have this sig a full size 45. Just a little bit different no idea what 238 was. Go some where else they will rip you off. read more

Great place to shoot and to purchase firearms. They are knowledgeable and patient when showing you options and more concerned with you being comfortable with the gun you choose than making a sale - imagine that.
