Phil Richard is an expert at his craft. I have a Browning 1886 in .45-70 for which I wanted the original stock and hand guard changed for the rifle to fit me properly. Phil removed the original stock and hand guard and purchased unfinished replacements and went to work to finish and fit both to the rifle. He also mounted a recoil pad which required further finishing work. Not only did he do perfectly beautiful work, he kept me up to date on how the project was going and even sent me pictures and descriptions of the ongoing work by email. I got myself an online education. This is a lot of work! Still, Phil's pricing was very reasonable, probably about half of what I would have paid going through Turnbull. I couldn't be more happy. Phil came to my home to pick up the rifle, showed me his FFL, and provided me a professional work order with full description of the work to be done and the cost. In the end, Phil actually beat his initial estimate so that I ended up paying less. Phil is a diamond in the rough, folks, an honest person, a graduate of West Point, a retired engineering professor, and I couldn't recommend him more highly. Just read his bio. I consider myself fortunate to have such a person to entrust my firearms to for getting first class gunsmith work done. Honor, integrity, and skill all rolled into one, that's Phil Richard. read more
