Went on the day of the open house. Visited 3 main rooms, all very nice and clean. Tables were setup with different vendor's items. Sampled quite a lot of food that they provided for the venue. Definitely very well organized. There were some sample cocktails that can be chosen from as well, they are very generous with the open house. This is my top choice definitely for event venue. I'm the summer time, very good to take pictures outside as well, nice Greek columns.

Came here to attend a wedding. Great venue for a wedding and food was great! The ceremony was little bit cold as the heaters didn't work as well and was little bit noisy. Definitely worth the venue for the food. High quality food and four course meal!

Our friends had their surprise engagement party here, planned by their parents. The venue was really pretty, everything was very professional and the staff were fantastic. We stayed outside until they arrived and surprised them. We all went inside and sat down for dinner. It was a seven course meal. We started off with hors d'oeuvres, I only tried the satay chicken skewers. But they were fantastically cooked. I could've eaten the whole tray, but didn't. While we waited, the staff brought wine out and offered to get any drinks. My fiancée had the white which was 20 Bees Pinot Grigio, a bit dry for her. I just had an orange juice as I don't drink. We then had caesar salads. Semi decent salads. Could've been dressed more, small pinch of salt maybe or fresh pepper. Next a potato leek soup, which was vegan. It was heavy on the black pepper, but it was ok. We then had a palate cleansing cranberry and green apple ice, it was delicious. The main course had a few options, I chose the Pork Tenderloin and Maple Glazed Beans and my fiancée had the Chicken Breast in Mushroom Ragout. Though two bites in, we switched. The pork was too done for me. But the chicken was perfect. I actually ate every bite except the small piece of bone. For dessert there was a Chocolate Ganache Gateaux with Vanilla Bean Cream or Strawberries and Blackberries. As someone who can't have gluten or large quantities of dairy, I had to go fruit. But my fiancée said it was delicious. They also had macarons, definitely decent. But I've had better for sure. Lastly there was and evening table, however everyone was full or left by that time. So it didn't get eaten and we were told nothing could be taken home. Seems like a HUGE waste to me. Like, there was at least enough for 30 people. As for the wait staff, they were fantastic. Put up with my allergies and questions about the food. Super friendly.

I attended a wedding reception here with a sense of morbid curiosity. From what I've heard and read, it seemed like the Guild Inn exemplified Murphy's Law: anything that can go wrong will go wrong. I've heard of cakes being dropped (and then blamed on guests), construction equipment in the reception hall, suites being unavailable despite being booked, lateness in every aspect, technical difficulties, management nightmares. But I'm here to comment on my experiences, not the rumours. And I can say for certain, that I had a lovely time here as a guest on a quiet Saturday in November. There may be several factors: Guild Inn has gone through their growing pains, we were the only wedding at that time. Either way, I have little to complain about. The venue is very modern and was cleanly kept. As it was already dark and rainy, I never got to check out the more unique outdoor aspects of the Estate. While the interior was nice, it wasn't anything special. First impressions were immediately positive as there was an attendant directing us to the right door, and showing us where the coat check/washrooms/reception were. Food, of course, is the highlight for a guest. Surprisingly, everything was above average...EXCEPT the entree. The hors d'oeuvres included legit sushi that wasn't supermarket quality. The appetizers consisted of a large crispy crab cake salad and a tasty salmon tartar with a LOT of tartar. The dessert was a light and delicious mango raspberry mousse. The entree was a big fail. My salmon was covered in a thick layer of really, really salty miso paste. They torched the top part that was covered in miso so the delicious crispy part you usually get on fried fish wasn't there. I scraped off the miso and even then, I didn't finish. The chicken was dry. The beef was a big piece of mediocre. But hey, one course out of 4 failing ain't that bad, even if it's the main course. I came here expecting to see a train wreck, but left feeling pleasantly surprised. On that night, The Guild Inn Estate was a well-oiled machine. Maybe it's finally gotten through its bumpy phase. Maybe they learned from their mistakes. Or maybe I got lucky. Only time, and more Yelp reviews, will tell. (94/100) - 2017

Recently had our wedding at the Guild Inn Estate, it was absolutely gorgeous. The food was delicious, the portions were great, we also had a seafood & dessert table loved how they catered to both of our cultures (Portuguese and Filipino) in regards to selection. We used very minimal decor because the building itself is already so beautiful with tall glass windows and a white, clean, modern style that compliments the structure. Staff was extremely accommodating and easy to work with. Most of our dealings was with Francesca who was absolutely awesome throughout the whole process. Very professional and responded to all our inquiries in a timely manner. Photographer - AS Photographer Videographer- 2Deer Films Entertainment- Magen Boys Florist - Elford Floral Design

Where does this say "casual event"? Non refundable waste of money! No food topped up after 1:15pm.

0/5 So after reading the typical standard letter of excuses from the marketing team, I felt it necessary to post an update. #1 NOBODY has been in touch with me to discuss or resolve ANYTHING! Here is my response to the rest of the reply i received to my review: When accommodating a large number of guests, the unpredictable nature of special events can be a challenge and our staff is trained to do their very best in resolving the situation on-site to what is absolutely possible and can be exemplified from dozens of positive reviews from happy past clients that yelp unfortunately filters out. Yelp filters out reviews? Hmmmm, i don't think so! This FATHER'S Day lunch was planned well in advance, so no challenges, sorry yet another excuse! DadFest was planned and advertised as a casual Father's Day lunch buffet with no promises for reservations. WHERE was it advertised as casual?!?!? Nothing was written anywhere regarding "no promises for reservations" It was by reservation only and NON-REFUNDABLE! I still have the flyer - maybe i should post that and you can explain where all of these things you claim are written! Efforts before the event were made to ensure a sufficient number of seating was available. Despite all efforts from our on-site staff and the manager on duty that was running around throughout the event to ensure majority of customers enjoyed their experience, a small number of guests were inconvenienced due to unforeseen circumstances and the high demand for indoor seating but were accommodated by our staff as quick as possible. WRONG - there were many many people unhappy. We talked to people that were leaving by 1pm when it started at 12pm. If you have numbers in advance and no walk in's allowed, how do you justify any excuses?!? Considering how poor the turnout was for the event, there really was no way anyone should've messed this up. You keep talking about seating, how about running out of food by 1-1:30 when the event ran until 3pm?!? Even though a large number of guests expressed their gratitude and reaction to their positive experience that day, we are disheartened that we didn't meet your expectation for this event. Which guests? Let's see their reviews?!? So far on this site and many other's, majority of guests were disappointed and unhappy. Just because the whole event doesn't take the time to jump on social media & Yelp to post a review - doesn't mean that you had a perfect event. I was embarrassed for my husband that we took him out for brunch, paid close to $200 and there was no food topped up (except for sliders & sausages) after 1pm when we arrived just shortly after 1. No excuse for that!

After all, worst case scenario was that I'd get a lot of wine for my trouble. The Metropolitan Centre in Scarborough is a fascinating event hall that wears its heritage proudly on its sleeve. It was a bit overwhelming - and a bit humbling to walk in here for the first time and take everything in. This is a sprawling space that offers some of the best food I've had at an event hall in a very long time, and the event was an interesting and fascinating experience. We enjoyed salmon, salad, roasted red peppers, mini potatoes and all the bread and wine we could handle. And the baklava. OH MY GOD THE BAKLAVA. And it was the nice, light baklava that was handmade. I ate like half the plate when they brought it - don't judge me, I'm a growing boy. I will be the first to tell you that I am not literate in Greek culture, so it took some time to acclimate to their customs. When in doubt, kiss the hands of your elders and hug everyone you can. It was very interesting to see the reverence the assembled guests (including several politicians) had for the academy, which is affiliated with Saint-Paul University and teaches young men to be priests. This was definitely an experience I won't soon forget, and the venue was classy and filled with good times and great food. If I ever have the chance to attend the Metropolitian again in the future, I'll be there without delay. Highly recommended.

DO NOT BOOK THIS BANQUET HALL - Horrible Experience from Start to Finish…read more Our experience with this banquet hall was a complete disaster, and I would never recommend it to anyone, especially not for an important event like a wedding. Let's start with the bridal room -- or what they claim is a bridal room. When I asked Jeet to direct me to it, he told a staff member in Hindi to "clean it before taking her." I was then led down to the end of a dirty basement hallway and shown a few tiny, stuffy rooms with no AC and one barely working fan. It was one of the most disgusting spaces I've ever seen -- completely inappropriate for any bride. Next, the decor situation was a mess. We had hired a third-party vendor to decorate, but Jeet failed to remove decorations from a previous event. Our team had to work around their leftover decor, which made setup extremely cramped and chaotic. As guests began arriving, the carpets were still dirty. I had to ask the manager 3-4 times to get someone to vacuum, and by the time they did, it was already too late -- guests were walking in as a worker was vacuuming the floor. Jeet actually told us to keep the guests outside while they finished cleaning. Unbelievable. We were also charged extra -- a few hundred dollars -- for microphone and speaker use because we had organized speeches. However, the sound system didn't work at all. When we notified Jeet, he brushed it off saying they were "working on it" and asked us to wait. Obviously, we couldn't delay the entire event while they took their time trying to fix it. As for the food, we were told we'd receive authentic Afghan food from their partner, Riaz Catering. What we got was anything but Afghan cuisine. The food was bland and disappointing -- most of our guests didn't even eat. Later we realized that another Indian party downstairs had been served the exact same food, falsely labeled as Afghan. On top of that, they just left the food out all night without properly storing or managing it. To make matters worse, the temperature inside the hall kept rising throughout the night. While the AC was working in the beginning, it was clear they were turning it down (or off) to cut costs, making the atmosphere uncomfortable for all our guests. In summary: 0/10. Jeet and the entire management team were completely unprofessional and disorganized. From the venue conditions to the service and food -- everything was below acceptable standards. Do not waste your time, money, or peace of mind booking this hall. You will be disappointed and frustrated, just like we were.
