Review Highlights - Paramount Event Space

There was a spot for the cocktail reception with a full bar, a smaller bar and a small hot-table area where the bride and groom had hot appetizers.

Overall good vibe,…read more We signed up for guest list the morning of, so our cover was only $5 since we went before 11:30 PM (P.S you don't get a confirmation for the guest list, just sign up before the 9:30 PM deadline and you're pretty much on) The security at the front do a super thorough body check so at least your know the place is kept safe. Music was good, bathrooms were clean, but god damn, the reason for my 2/5 rating is because of the DJ. Let's just call him...10 second switch! Because that's right, 10 seconds after they start planning a song and you realize what the song is...BAM! Change of song! And while you might think that fast switches make for a solid variety of music, it ends up just giving you a headache. You can never really dance or sing to any of the songs because they kept switching so fast. Although the music was decent, this factor was kinda annoying and caused us head out early and just call it a night. I might return one day since everything else about the club was great, here's just hoping they have a new DJ by then...

I came here twice. The first time was okay since it was NYE so the music was better but the second…read moretime was terrible. My sister, her friend and I all agreed that it was the right choice to leave the club after 30 minutes. The club was upscale with the 2 weird gold statues and palm trees. The lightings and sound system were okay. NYE: The crowd was young and wild (it's nice to put it that way). Honestly, it was filled with people who just finally reached their legal age of drinking and alcoholics. It also had few butt-grabbing lovers and pervs. A guy held me up despite the fact that I tried hard to push him away and my sister's friends had to ruthlessly asking him to put me down. I was pissed because the bouncers didn't do anything about it. TWICE! THAT GUY CAME BACK TWICE AND THE BOUNCERS IGNORE IT!!!! The club was filled with drunk people as well. They were drunk, they didn't know what they were doing and again the bouncers just ignored them. They fell on the floor multiple times, stepped on my shoes, stole my NY hat and my glow sticks. The floor was wet and sticky. Broken glasses everywhere because someone decided to just throw their shot glasses there. The DJ was good tho! Second time I came back here: No, the music was just....slow and boring. I think it was for grinding lovers. Grinders were everywhere: at the booths, close to the pole, next to the statues.. everywhere! I ordered Jägerbomb and the bartender gave me Jack bomb which was really nasty (not a fan of Jack Daniel's) A convenient place if you decide to have some fun after a movie or Dave & Buster's but for sure you will have better experience with club scene downtown. Free parking tho:) But I'd rather go downtown, pay for a parking spot, and pay same price (or even cheaper) for cover, music, and drinks.

Teri Leese What can…read moreI say about my recent experience at The Factory Lounge? [TLDR] - Candidly, I would not spend your hard earned money here unless you want to partake in a venue run by egregious management and staff who are seemingly hardwired to distrust their customers and patrons. For the sake of garnering some perspective, I logged into Google Reviews to see what everyone else have got to say about the establishment. I was very surprised to read the comments and many of which were very consistent to my previous experience at The Factory Lounge - uncommunicative staff, subpar customer service, and patrons faced with hostility at the liquor bar. Prior to arriving at the venue, I visited the company website. In the 'What are we all about' section it states "At The Factory Lounge it's all about the party and we know how to throw the best party in town! We pride ourselves in paying attention to every last detail and we will create a memorable and distinctive event you will never forget." Bona fide clients who choose to use this venue based on the mission statement will surely be let down because: A)The Factory Lounge really doesn't know how to throw a party - the bar staff was underperforming their duties and crutching on excuses to deter paying customers B)There was no attention to detail because the head manager/owner was too busy arguing with people C)They claim to be the best party in town yet there is no substance. Customer satisfaction is far and few between. Albeit, I do agree with one part of their mission statement about creating an unforgettable event. Only I would put it a bit differently, the most unforgettable thing about the event was the constant tarnishing and arguing done by the lousy team working that night. When I asked to speak directly with the operating manager to rectify some issues surrounding the liquor agreement, I was dumbfounded because I was looking right at her: Teri Leese (Owner, Operator, Coordinator). She has been running this business for over 7 years. I am astonished by her uncooperative demeanor for someone with such tenure. Teri had reigned over the bar staff to disadvantage their customers, she was mostly unapproachable, she was disrespectful towards our party members - just to give you some perspective. Having read this review, I urge you to reconsider choosing The Factory Lounge as your primary venue for any event. You could be faced with regret, disgruntled guests, and an unforgettably bad experience.

My husband asked about it as we were passing by one evening and I explained the concept, i.e., an art class where you hang out, paint, and if you want, drink along the way. I decided that this would be a great activity for the 3 of us on Family Day. I was delighted to find that it was indeed open that day and so I booked. The class started at 7 but we were encouraged to come 20 to 30 minutes prior to settle in, get our aprons on, get comfortable with any snacks and beverages we wanted, and be ready to begin promptly at 7. When we came in, we were greeted by one of the staff who walked us through what to expect. There are cubbies to put your things away. The seating is somewhat snug so that's the way to go. Kids 13 and up are allowed to join in the painting. You can bring your own food, but not beverages. They sell a fair array of wines, beers, and mixed drinks, including their own signature drink, Dirty Paint Water. We had to try that! It's made with coconut rum, blue curacao, and pineapple juice. I'm not a huge fan of pineapple juice, but it was tasty. At $16 a pop though, we kept it at one drink apiece. They do offer a number of non alcoholic hot and cold beverages. The snacks are limited to a very few prepackaged items such as chips and beef jerky. I read on their website that they have a partnership with Domino's Pizza which gets delivered if you want to place an order. In any case, you don't have enough room or time to eat during the class, so it isn't a big part of the experience. The class itself lasts 90 minutes. The instructor stands on a platform with a sample painting to follow, and paints along with you as they go through the steps to create your own version of the finished product. They have a microphone but your classmates need to refrain from chatting or using the hairdryers provided (to help dry your canvas between steps) to ensure they can be heard by everyone. Our instructor was quite good at pacing the class between steps. They gave a short summary of their qualifications, and explained that the bar staff are also actually fully qualified instructors, so if you need any help or have questions, you can flag them down as well for assistance. Her instructions were clear and easy to follow. At a couple of points during the class, we were given formal 10 minute breaks to allow our canvases to dry in between stages. It allows the perfect opportunity to use the washrooms (which were clean and roomy), stretch, and take a mental break, not to mention, grab another beverage! Our theme that night was Van Gogh's Starry Night. We learned how to divide our canvas, mix some colours, and use the 2 brushes provided to create the desired effects. She gave some hints on cleaning the brushes and thinning the paints to get the desired results. She also gave hints on holding the brushes and applying pressure to create additional effects. The cool thing about our theme and paints was that they are neon acrylics that show under black light. I wish they had that light somewhere in the studio so that we could see it! The few cons I experienced were that I noticed on their website after booking my spots, that I was entitled to a $10 discount for having a group of 3, but had to add the code given in the website description when I had booked. Idk why they wouldn't just automatically apply it when I'm literally booking 3 people in my group. When I'm paying $16 for one beverage once I'm there, I would have appreciated it that much more. Also, the quality of the paints made it difficult to get even coverage on the canvas, to which almost everyone had a hard time having the paint adhere/get absorbed. It is a great experience and I might go back if the fam is inclined to return. It's really cool to have your artwork be your souvenir of a good time. They sell frames you can put your painting in if you wish. They offer a newsletter and perks if you want to sign up and/or come more often. Prices vary according to the day of the week, as well as the size of your group. Be sure to look up the codes you have to add manually yourself at checkout if you want to get the group discount you're entitled to. The choices of subject matter are wide and have something to appeal to just about anyone. It would also make for a great team building experience for work groups. Something I'm definitely glad we did at least once!
