Very beautiful venue! The bride and groom were very happy with the decor and service. As well as the guest, that includes me. Even though I was a late addition, they were still able to accommodate me! That was pretty awesome. The reception area looked perfect, the pianist was captivating, and the food was pretty good. I really enjoyed the appetizers a lot. I didn't really care for the main course too much. That's not the establishment or anyone's fault. I'm just picky when it comes to meatless things. But how could I deny that cheese cake. A blessing under a thin layer of sweet strawberry goodness. The area was comfortably able to fit over a hundred plus people. While giving much room to do some dancing! This is an amazing venue for a couple to wed! read more

I got married at Scarborough Convention Centre about a month ago. The hall is very beautiful and the staircase inside the hall, what drew us in, did not disappoint. However, if we knew how horrible the service would end up - we would have definitely gone with a different hall. The Appetizer Service: A) Half the appetizers that we ordered were not there and had been changed for other items, clearly after the original appetizers we had ordered ran out B) Of the appetizers that were there, the quantities were very low and only a few trays came out C) My guests had to chase down servers to get food as the servers would serve two-three people on a table and then run away D) There weren't enough servers in total, many guests (the ones not aggressive enough to chase the servers) did not get enough food E) We had ordered boneless chicken kebabs. I did see those being served initially but later on they were serving chicken kabab with bone. Dinner: A) We had ordered both vegetable and chicken biryani to accommodate all guests. Unfortunately the vegetable biryani never showered up. B) The chicken biryani could have probably passed for vegetarian though as the chicken pieces were so small and sparse that it was basically plain rice C) the goat dish we had contained humongous and not edible pieces of meat, even though we had specifically asked the Chef about the goat meat D) the Chef was totally MIA so it was not possible to even attempt to reconcile anything E) Overall the food was not enough for the number of people. Things like chicken 65 was gone and not refilled. Lots of people didn't get that The Mysteriously Missing Cake: we had a fairly large cake, however ZERO guests I spoke with had even one bite. Apparently two small plates of cake were taken out and were never refilled. I didn't even get my top tier to take home and freeze, so much for that wedding tradition. It would have been okay if I knew that tier was eaten, but knowing it was thrown out really sucks. General Annoyances: Our final bill charged us an extra dollar per plate that we never originally contracted to. tl:dr All in all, yes it is a beautiful place. But the service is horrendous. read more

I've been to several events at this hall. It really is a beautiful venue. The only criticism I have is that sometimes the in-house sound system doesn't sound too great. I would recommend this Hall for any party, but I would recommend bringing your own sound gear. Or use a rental service like gtaspeakerrentals.ca read more

The Future of the Scarborough's Latest Banquet Hall is looking quite grim... After having talked with a few people in the Scarborough community regarding the service of this year old banquet hall, the service and the food has left much to be desired. "I was completely humiliated on my wedding day," says one bride. "There is no credibility or accountability here!" This couple booked their wedding months in advance so that's inexcusable. "The banquet hall ran out of champagne and served our guests ginger ale instead," she said. "The bar ran out of premium liquors by 11:30 at night." A former employee said that he was told by his manager on many occasions to tell guests that they've "run out" of premium liquor when the stock starts to get low. Another couple went to their food tasting and left with worry on their faces. They weren't served the dishes the picked for their menu and was told that the purpose of of their visit was to test the quality of SCC's food. Well, the salad served included the ends of lettuce, a few leaves of spinach, grapes, red peppers and cherry tomatoes soaked in olive oil and crumbled goat cheese. She was told it was the "SCARBOROUGH CONVENTION SALAD" by the waiter, and a "Greek" salad by the manager. YIKES! For the main, the chicken was served with an onion ring hanging off the leg bone, a runny vegetable melody, and undercooked bland pasta. The dessert crepe was soggy, the ice cream was melted and the fruits were soggy. The interviewees described the manager as someone who didn't take criticism well and likes to boast about how many clients he's booked. The first couple regrets booking their wedding at SCC and is considering taking legal action. The "food-tasting" couple is currently looking at alternative options. read more

BRIDES BEWARE! Scarborough Convention Centre is the WORST venue for your wedding! My fiancee & I met with the staff to get a price quote for our upcoming wedding. Not only was nothing formal written down, they didn't have a formal package/pricing list of any of the food or services offered. Then they sent us an email breakdown of the price they quoted us on & what we asked for. The cocktail hour we asked for was missing, and the price was higher than we were told & excluding taxes (we were told it was inclusive of taxes). We took our family over to see the place(at a time that they told us to come by in our first meeting) & no one was there. We tried to reach them to clarify etc, but no one ever responded to our calls or emails. Do yourselves a favour, avoid disappointment & STAY AWAY! read more

BEAUTIFUL VENUE!! I first came across this elegant venue when I was invited to a friend's wedding reception that was held here. I was blown away by the decor, service and the venue itself. The food was amazing, awesome dance floor and they also provided audio/video services for my friend's slideshow. Great place, I would definitely recommend it! read more

My husband and I booked Scarborough Convention Centre for our wedding reception. The building is beautiful! However, something must be said for one of their representatives, Shahid. He might as well have promised us the world. We thought that he was the best when we first booked with him. As the months went on, we were contacted for our tasting. It was the wrong kind of food. Over the next 3 months, once a month, they kept telling us they will call us by the end of the week with a tasting date. Never happened. I wanted to know what our food will taste like which is not unreasonable! Finally I got so fed up I told my husband that he can deal with Shahid from then on because he doesn't listen, nor care about what I say. A tasting date was set 2 days later -- and it was take out. We knew it because we happen to order food from the same place, thus know what the food tastes like. When we brought this up to him at the tasting, he denied it. We figured, "whatever" if they get take out. At least we know it will be good. Day of, dinner time, NOT THE SAME FOOD. On top of that, he allowed our wedding guests into the room during cocktail hour when he knew that they were not to go in there. My husband and I were supposed to be in there for photos. Again, he knew that, too. Especially when the other 2 weddings' cocktail hours were in the lobby! His cell phone was off when we arrived to do our grand entrance! Our table chart and large picture of us were placed on easels that were 1) mis-matched and 2) so short that you literally had to bend! They day before the wedding, I had gone to the hall to set up my centerpieces and I saw napkins in the room in royal blue. I asked him if they were the napkins for us (requested navy blue) and he said no. Well, guess which napkins were on our tables -- the royal blue ones. Not that I really cared about that but what I do care about is that he blatantly lied to me, right to my face. There was no toilet paper in my bridal suite, no hand towels/paper towels, either. It's very disappointing when someone totally convinces you that there is nothing to worry about and then completely disappoints you. It makes, "If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself." so true! Just wanted to give people a heads-up on this and to not be fooled by this man. Other than that, the hall is very convenient and beautiful. read more

I am very disappointed with their service, to say the least. I had my wedding at this venue. My first word of advice to anyone considering this location would be to be very very careful. For myself, until the moment of payment, Varanath (who was helping us) was being very kind, however as soon as the payment was processed his attitude completely changed. (1) Not to mention that we payed for the special effects, DJ and lighting package and he did not deliver the performance that he had promised. The DJ ended up being the technician, who did not know how to mix music whatsoever, so my entrance song turned out to play before I can walk in, and he tried to randomly mix songs, rather then overlapping organically one over the other, it sounded like a disasterous mix, composed by childen(2) There were times when there was food , however not many utensils for the guests, so many of the guests had to wait absentmindedly, and when there were utensils, there were not many plates (3) His customer service from after the payment to the end was horrible, the way he behaved with my father in law and my mother was embarsssing. He treated us like he was giving us the hall for free. For me customer experience is everything, I would rather pay a little more and collaborate with a company that appreciates my business, money along with my time. Varanath, began to argue for little things, a few days before the wedding, when it was too late to back out ( invites had been sent out) and raised the prices up even more than what he initially asked for- in regards to extra room, more guests, lighting, DJ and etc, towards the end. (4) The did not deliver the food that we had chosen from the menu, in fact they had replaced it with their own choice of food . Thankfully, all the other vendors I worked with were great, so it made up for the mess the "DJ" (technician) and Scarborough Convention Center. had made. Overall, it was a horrendous experience, the venue itself is spectacular, with the great big chandeliers, and the ballrooms, however, there are many places similar to this venue, like The Markham Convention Center, Mississauga Convention Center, Bombay Palace or the Panemonte Convention Centre, that are just as beautiful, with the same amount of money you can hold your event with a company that treats you with respect and acknowledges your big day! If someone had told me this earlier, I would never have stepped foot into Scarborough Convention Centre. So, an advice to all the brides out there, please don't take your choice of venue too lightly, you're paying 15-20,000$ On your venue, your time is precious, use it wisely, and more importantly use it with a company that appreciates your business and time! read more

We held our wedding reception last august in 2014 for about 300 guests, and it couldn't have gone better! From the initial booking, to the food tasting, and reviewing of minor details, the entire experience with SCC was fantastic. We had a delicious 3 course meal, followed by a finger-licking late night poutine station. The hall looked fantastic, and complemented all of our other decor vendors. The bar had an extensive selection, and the dance floor was packed until the very end. Thanks again to the entire SCC team and I'll definitely be recommending this venue in the future! read more

I recently had my wedding at Scarborough convention centre. I have to say it was an amazing experience. Shahid helped me and my husband so much. Shahid sat with us from day one and the way he explains things are so simple but detailed. The service was amazing. Shahid and his staff did an outstanding job. Not only we were happy but our guest loved it. Everything from the in house apittizers to the bar to the late night sweet station was beyond expectations. The prices are reasonable, for amount of things they give you.I recommend anyone who wants to get married, get married here. You'll have the best night of your life. read more

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the SCC in September 2014 our experience was absolutely without a doubt the worst ...a nightmare and something no bride/groom should go through on such a special and important day. It began the week of the wedding soon after we made our final payment to the hall, the co-ordinator there told us that he booked our room the same day as our reception for a morning function and that we couldn't have the room til 4pm for our decorator, cake, dj..centerpieces..receiving table etc to set up and that they can't provide any help, when in the beginning we were told we would have the hall from 9am that morning. This was just absolutely ridiculous because our reception was starting at 5pm and that surely WAS NOT enough time for all these people to get in there, set up and have our event running on time. The day of our reception, Shahid told us that we can have someone bring over the desserts for our sweet table, when my brother inlaw went over that day Shahid turned him away an said he can't refrigerate for us, this was a huge panic because most of these desserts were cakes...ice cream etc things that could not be left out for long. Once our reception the servers began bringing out the food at the wrong time, and then guests were complaining that they were picking up their plate when the barely even got a chance to touch their food. During speeches the lights completely cut out and Shahid refused to fix the problem. Our dessert table wasn't set up on time and at the end of the night they dropped our wedding cake on a random table and my mother inlaw had to scramble to get a box to put it in. They also kept my cake topper and said it belonged to them. These are just a few problems i had with this hall, the list is too long, I advise no one to book this hall for their event they will be disappointed and these people aren't up to mark at all. I would not recommend this place not even to my worst enemy! Shahid agreed to many things only to get us to sign a contract and make a down payment, this place is my money hungry and a huge rip off. read more
