Teri Leese What can…read moreI say about my recent experience at The Factory Lounge? [TLDR] - Candidly, I would not spend your hard earned money here unless you want to partake in a venue run by egregious management and staff who are seemingly hardwired to distrust their customers and patrons. For the sake of garnering some perspective, I logged into Google Reviews to see what everyone else have got to say about the establishment. I was very surprised to read the comments and many of which were very consistent to my previous experience at The Factory Lounge - uncommunicative staff, subpar customer service, and patrons faced with hostility at the liquor bar. Prior to arriving at the venue, I visited the company website. In the 'What are we all about' section it states "At The Factory Lounge it's all about the party and we know how to throw the best party in town! We pride ourselves in paying attention to every last detail and we will create a memorable and distinctive event you will never forget." Bona fide clients who choose to use this venue based on the mission statement will surely be let down because: A)The Factory Lounge really doesn't know how to throw a party - the bar staff was underperforming their duties and crutching on excuses to deter paying customers B)There was no attention to detail because the head manager/owner was too busy arguing with people C)They claim to be the best party in town yet there is no substance. Customer satisfaction is far and few between. Albeit, I do agree with one part of their mission statement about creating an unforgettable event. Only I would put it a bit differently, the most unforgettable thing about the event was the constant tarnishing and arguing done by the lousy team working that night. When I asked to speak directly with the operating manager to rectify some issues surrounding the liquor agreement, I was dumbfounded because I was looking right at her: Teri Leese (Owner, Operator, Coordinator). She has been running this business for over 7 years. I am astonished by her uncooperative demeanor for someone with such tenure. Teri had reigned over the bar staff to disadvantage their customers, she was mostly unapproachable, she was disrespectful towards our party members - just to give you some perspective. Having read this review, I urge you to reconsider choosing The Factory Lounge as your primary venue for any event. You could be faced with regret, disgruntled guests, and an unforgettably bad experience.

A few months ago, Yelp GTA (that's me) hosted a fun-filled event that took guests back in time to the 80s. But the event is not the focus of the review, the focus is the venue. Now as I mentioned you might not know it's here as it's located in a sort of hidden portion of the Schwartz-Reisman Centre. But now as you read this review, know that the juice (this venue) is totally and completely worth the squeeze (the search). The doors from the main center open up to wide hall, large enough to host an event if so required, lined with doors leading to multiple event spaces, washrooms and access to the outside garden/terrace area. The first room on the left is called the brides suite which is more of a small meeting space, following this you have 2 similar sized rooms for about 100 people, and then the piece de la resistance the grand ballroom space which can hold approximately 300. If you have a larger than normal function, a tracked door can be removed between every room (save for the brides suite) and 3 rooms become one massive L-shaped hall. We utilized the entire space for out event and it really made for an impressive venue. Other perks with this venue, coat check, a totally secure building, and free underground parking (when your event is in the middle of the winter). The one drawback for people not practicing the Jewish faith is that the venue is 100% Kosher compliant, and because of that what you bring in is limited and restricted. With that said they have a full (actually 2) kitchen(s) that produce amazing, delicious food that you wouldn't know was kosher or otherwise. For a wedding, business summit or conference, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, or other special occasion, this is THE newest and most elegant hall in York Region. Don't believe me? Come check it out for yourself - it WILL blow your mind!

I was fortunate to attend a Yelp Event here. The underground parking lot is really spacious which I prefer than parking at the ground level outdoor lot. The main event room is large enough for a stage setup or as a wedding venue. The staff working here is professional and pleasant. Leo & Sala Goldhar also has it's own catering facilities as they provided most of the food and non alcoholic beverage for the event. Chocolate fountain was impressive! Thanks so much for a memorable evening!

For me though, when you're in the business of making dreams come true, being just nice is the expectation, hence the average rating, though I am leaning more towards 3.5. Came here for a wedding recently and I've got to say, the decor was very impressive from the outside. With many banquet halls, they may be all bling'd up on the inside, but the outside looks like a warehouse entrance. Not with Hazelton, it looks like a luxurious chateau from the outside, surrounded by ample parking. Great first impression. The lobby and ballroom were also beautiful in their own right. Sparkling chandeliers and a spacious reception area allowed for a comfortable mingling experience. Staff were great throughout the experience. The hors d'oeuvres were passed around generously and when a glass was shattered, it was promptly cleaned up. The bartenders were efficient, though the bar was outside the ballroom and created an awkward crowd of people leaving to get drinks once in awhile. Onto what some argue is the most important part of a wedding, the food. Sadly, this is where I drew the line between average and good. The food here just wasn't...that good. The risotto was served prison-style, splat onto your plate from a guy with a ladle, varying in splat sizes. The steak, while pretty tasty, was a very well done, brown piece of meat with none of that desirable juiciness. The dessert was a pretty citrus sorbet nestled within a whole orange or a lemon. Great for Instagram, but way too sour to finish. All things considered, Hazelton Manor is still a solid place to host events, given its beauty. The food wasn't great for me but according to the other reviews, this might be just a matter of the choices that were made. In a city with a thousand banquet halls, this would be a good place to start looking. (48/100) - 2017

We used a bridal suite upstairs to keep our things and get ready. As well, the staff was extremely approachable and available to us prior to the reception. The service was excellent and the food was even better. We had an exceptional antipasto bar which included fresh sushi, shucked oysters, crab and various hors d'oeuvres. For our main course, we had gnocchi with rosé for the pasta dish and osso buco for our main entree - all of which were spectacular. I never eat dessert at weddings but the toffee cookie dish they served had me eating every last bite. They definitely set a new bar to wedding menus. Not to mention the modern, sleek decor and the outdoor terrace make this an ideal spot to host guests for an amazing evening out. I would highly recommend this venue for newly engaged couples - it's a show stopper and a guaranteed unforgettable evening.

Bellvue requires clients to choose their caterer strictly from Bellvue's approved vendor list. We were told this was to maintain Bellvue's standard of quality. Based on that promise, we trusted that both the venue and their selected vendors would deliver a professional, properly planned service. That is not what happened. Despite a confirmed guest count, more than one hundred guests did not receive food. This is a significant failure at any event, especially a wedding, and it caused stress and embarrassment for our family on an important day. When we raised the issue, Bellvue shifted all responsibility to the caterer, even though they were the ones who required us to choose from their own list of approved vendors. For a venue that speaks about quality control and trusted partners, this response was extremely disappointing. The venue looks beautiful and the sales pitch is impressive, but when something goes wrong, the support is not there. There is a clear gap between the image Bellvue presents and the accountability they actually provide. If you are considering Bellvue, please be cautious. Do not make your decision based on the appearance or the initial presentation. Ask very direct questions about accountability, catering oversight, and what happens if service fails. Our experience showed that being on an "approved vendor list" does not guarantee quality or responsibility.

My employer recently held a meeting and dinner event here. It's easy to find and access from Jane Street; however, the parking entrance setup is narrow and easily bottlenecks the minute one car in the lot has to manoeuvre in the area adjacent to the entrance. Lots of cement blocks etc. all over. Some colleagues had to find parking elsewhere as it filled up to capacity, even though this was a Wednesday evening and I didn't see any evidence of any other function going on. Bellvue is indeed tres belle. The decor is gorgeous; however, I could see signs of aging and fading with cracks beginning to appear in some of the mouldings and ceilings. The bathrooms are lovely, the kind where it's pretty much a fully enclosed room for every stall, 2 banks of sinks, plenty of paper products on hand and soap dispensers all operational and full. The furniture throughout is also beautiful. The coat check service was fairly orderly. The sound and visual setup for the business meeting and following presentations were all good. The food was rather disappointing. The buffet was set up so poorly that there were competing lines forming to pick up plates/cutlery in the centre, then the appetizers, entree dishes and desserts tables sort of haphazardly parallel to this starting point in the middle. The food itself was of varying quality. Most of the cold starters were pretty good with the standard selection of Italian deli items. The mains were not so good. The tomato sauce for the pasta and veal cutlets was dull and acidic, not the bright and fresh tasting flavour I would expect from one of the better Italian venues. The cutlets were piled all over each other with no cheese so that the empty trays were just full of empty breading. The desserts were hit and miss. The cake and cream concoctions were pretty tasty, if on the really sweet side, but the cheesecakes were really sad - very thinned out, not at all the dense and creamy texture a cheesecake should be. This was the same whether it was plain or flavoured. Last but not least, the orange juice at the bar was so thinned out, it was yellow. The service at least was very good, so kudos to the staff. I can't speak to what value you get for what you pay, but I do know that just based on the culinary quality there, I'd probably look to other places to shortlist for an event.
